After all the other Adventure Archives guys went home, Darrell and I managed to get one day trip in. He was supposed to go with us on the Kumano Kodo and a mountain hike, but we had some terrible luck and he got sick. So this was the meager consolation prize haha.

This video was the last of the videos I filmed while in Japan in 2023. There is still one big episode from a trip we did around Japan before this video, we haven't edited that yet and it probably won't be out for another two months. In the beginning of this video, I mention that we got to the Sea of Japan at one point. We did that in that one big episode. Anyway! This is the last of the Japan 2023 videos on this channel. We'll be back sooner than last time, so even though it'll be a while before you get more videos, it won't be a four-year wait this time.

If anyone's curious, the song the piano lady was playing is "Senbonzakura." I love that song and it was cool to see someone playing it.

Awesome, they have Mount Desert Ice Cream there!! Whenever I visit Acadia, I always go there. Best ice cream, hands down.

So, that Lady who was slaying on the piano: absolutely just randomly walked up. I was at Kyoto station one day for lunch and then do a trip somewhere. Opposite of the end with the massive stairs I heard music, so I went there to investigate. Turns out there was a public piano just like that one. I sat down on a nearby bench and, for the rest of the day, watched a neverending stream of random people take turns playing anything from old Japanese stuff with singing, western classical pieces all the way to the latest anison - it was amazing. There was some older lady with luggage, a young girl who seemed to have come prepared with her mascot and an older gentleman in tow to record her, a group of school uniformed boys one of which dropped his gym bag, played one yoasobi banger like it was a regular Thursday (it was) and then left laughing together, your stereotypical salary man with a suit, his briefcase and the jujutsu kaisen opening 😂 Most of the people who played had no sheets with them, they knew the one or two songs they played by heart and knew them very well. Some people who stuck around longer came prepared with sheets and repeatedly swapped in to practice the same couple songs a few times, but never hogging the space. Completely forgot about my trip, but got a free concert. Would do again xD

It was good to see Darrell for at least part of your trip. A shame he couldn't make the trek. I know the view of Mt Baker too, can see it in my area also. That train was looking very Cylon. 🚅👍

I spent a few days in Matsumoto last November while I was headed towards the Kiso Valley segment of the Nakasendo. I was amazed at how busy it was while you were there. There were no lines while I was there, but that might be the difference between fall and summer, but the craft beer fest probably helped, too. But I think the one thing people should do when they visit the town overnight is to watch the sun set on the castle. As the sun sets the castle begins to glow, and when the sun sets the lights turn on and not just illuminates the castle but turns the moat into a giant mirror that almost perfectly reflects the castle and illumination. Does anyone know what that song is the lady was playing on the piano? It sounds familiar.

I think the piano song was Senbon Zakura. She was amazing, as it's such a fast-paced piece.

I spent a few weeks outside Matsumoto in 2005 and I just thought it was lovely. Had a chance to visit the castle, but not a lot of time to explore the town. I always wonder why almost no Jtubers spend much time out there.

Love your vlogs, they're so chill. Also, Canada and US have lots of history. It's just that so much of it was lost because of colonialism.

Why not? Did you see how crowded it was inside that castle? It was probably a preventive measure.
