Matsuri and Luna talk about their feelings for each other before Luna's 3D debut [Part 1]

Note: They are speaking softly because it was supposed to be a stream people would listen to while falling asleep (Matsuri does many of these).
Matsuri and Luna were supposed to do separate streams the night before Luna's 3D debut but ended up streaming together anyway. While digging for diamonds and iron they started talking seriously about their feelings for each other, it was quite a cute and interesting stream since we saw a part of Matsuri we don't usually get to see. We will be uploading the best clips separated into 3 parts, look forward to the rest!

The week from Luna's 3D announcement to Matsuri's birthday was probably the strongest Festivaluna period this year. Every day almost something incredibly wholesome happened between them. They are amazing friends and knowing they might never risk a relationship to preserve this is... bittersweet.

@@goolamgeek I'm not too sure about that. Mostly because Matsuri's tweet(personal twitter) really didnt have any connection to any particular person we know. All she said is that a friend was selfish and that some people only care about you for personal gain. This happened right after something bad happened(according to the official Matsuri twitter a friend passed away) and she was in a really bad mental state. She afterwards clarified that some people might have gotten the wrong idea. Also a few days after that Luna made her first tweet related to Matsuri in a while where she said that Matsuri loves her too much in a smug way. I kinda doubt that she would act that way if she had a huge fight with Matsuri only days before. The timing of that bad event being right around Luna's birthday is unfortunate and maybe those two are connected after all, I can't say. But I just want to be clear that this is very unsupported speculation at best. If you wanna talk about there being some strain between them, the fact that they barely interacted with each other for 2 months should be a way more obvious give away. I believe that is only for the sake of making some distance so they wont fall back into their lovey-dovey routine. Matsuri is very bad at letting go, as she is very emotional.

That's exactly the reason why we wanted to sub this stream, everything they said during the whole thing felt too real. The next part we'll upload includes the real reason as to why Matsuri doesn't want to take it further with her, it's kinda sad they seem to be holding themselves back but I do wish the best for them, even if they stay only as friends/best friends.

@@Disappointed_Philosoraptor it being clearly understandable doesn't cancel the fact that those are mixzd signals If we were to resume where Matsuri stands right now, she is clearly in love but doesn't want to commit to an office romance She wants to date but force herself to not go through with it It is clearly something we can understand word for word but that doesn't make it so that her feelings and the way she acts on them make it so that they go in opposite direction from one another, making them into mixed signals

As someone new to Hololive, it feels too real. It's like seeing something that shouldn't be public, I feel. If there's truth, which I believe exist, in this conversation, then it's bittersweet and dangerous at the same time… Imagine friendship, work relationship, and romance mingled into one big mess. Now that's extremely tough to handle. Things shouldn't progress into that point but sometimes it couldn't be helped. I relate to this a lot and I almost cried from the wholesome but somewhat sad vibe.

Well, they can say her feelings, but if these 2 end dating each other, im pretty sure that they never gonna say it on stream, because that is her private life after all. Although is not the first time that matsuri talk like that, she do the same thing for hoshikawa sara, you should search for that stream, is heartbreaking. But that was a final point and a new begin to matsuri, because she know more new people and now luna is part of her life, honestly im very happy for her and luna, and i hope that these two end together IRL, they make a wonderful couple as vtubers and is pretty obvious that luna has some special feelings for matsuri, so i wish the best for these two. And dont be so negative, hope the best. i hope the best for matsuri and luna, regardless of what they feel for each other, friends or something more, i love they relation and i wish their happiness.

@@MegaApostel but as people says in every comment there's one big roadblock that some new people aren't aware. They're idols, and the one of the biggest rules of idols in general is that they can't fall in love with other person irl (female/male), and for Matsuri this is a big challenge for her...

Matsuri made me realize that a lot of us ourselves are glass cannons too. No problems following someone but remain self conscious about it but don't know how to act or nervous when they follow you. This hits too close to my elementary days and even now.

When Matsuri started to cry and Luna started panicking... And I was in the middle of something that felt so private.. Oh boy. Pretty awkward moment for me. Gosh Im happy Matsuri got to meet someone that could make her feel that way. Even if it ends bitter sweet.

You can see in other comments but basically Matsuri probably had feelings for another vtuber named Hoshikawa. Matsuri's feelings for Hoshikawa were often used as a joke but at some point Matsuri and Hoshikawa went on a cruise date and she bought her expensive earrings. Later, on stream, Matsuri talked about how much she likes Hoshikawa and started crying (both the stream and the clip has since been privated). She also implied that she had been rejected, saying that she wished for Hoshikawa to be happy even if it hurt her and stuff. They stopped collabing as much around then as well. Again, keep in mind that this was all over a year ago!

Man that is some real emotion from Matsuri. If I didn't know better I would honestly say she really does love Luna more than a friend. I mean...I felt that emotion. This is why I need to learn Japanese. I'm subbed to all of hololive, but rarely watch due to the language barrier. Mostly depend on translated clips. This was beautiful though.

The translation is pretty accurate with some liberties taken in places that I noticed in order to preserve the spirit of the conversation. As someone who can only really understand Luna's side of the conversation 60% of the time (a benefit to her playing a "baby" type character is that her word choice and speaking structure are very easy to understand as a beginner or someone way out of practice) I can say you aren't missing much.

Ah, they did touch on something I kinda worry about, what if girls that collab a lot get into some serious irl arguments and can't keep working together? Even worse when it comes to romance, imagine Sukoya and Tomoe from Nijisanji breaking up irl, it would become a real mess...

A good point. I also worry about stuff like members living together. The HoloHouse thats happening with Coco, Suisei, and Kanata for example. As a group they seem leak the least likely to, well, form a group, but according to them IRL they get along super well. I think that's one of the most important things you can learn, is you shouldn't live with your friends unless you all have the same vibe. When I was in the military, I shared a dorm room with one of my close friends, but that ended up giving me a lot of stress cause they didn't like to clean very much and I did. Among other things, like the kind of company they would bring over.

@@artuno1207 I think it should be fine since they set hard rules and their work relationship is also at stake, so they very likely will adhere to it. Also, japanese people seem to be more inclined to follow established rules in comparison - well, taking my country as an example, in comparison to the clusterfuck that is living with friends here in Brazil. Plus, since due to Hololive reasons they can't even have strangers in the house outside of a select few family members, a main source of grievance is already out of the window (strangers in the house causing issues).

Never think that Hololive is some magical company where everyone gets along all the time. Strong personalities clash frequently in the real world as in this company, but some of the more mature members know it better than anyone else that it's in their best interests to all get along; Sora, who basically started with the company, tries to be the example for everyone to look up to. Mio has been acknowledged as a calming presence and is level headed enough that she is the go-to for resolving disputes. This is where we get her referred to as Mio-mama and Miso. She is very caring/motherly and despite not having the strongest personality at the dinner table, she is such a staple that it is hard to imagine your meal without a nice bowl of miso as a palette cleanser. Then there's Marine...yes, the boomer pirate loli cosplayer pervert. She might be the most outwardly crass member of hololive but she has the world experience (and age) to understand how bad things can get. She basically uses her humor as an icebreaker to get the others to act more carefree and remember that they're having fun, but she also knows when to pull it back and act mature for some of the members needing a bit of help. This was evident when discussing her first real memories with Pekora, a girl so anti-social that she basically needed Marine to escort her and keep her calm during her first real 3rd gen meetup.

Really reminds me of a conversation she had with Tamaki, where she talked about getting blocked by her friends cuz they didn't like how heavy the relationship felt, with Matsuri telling them "I love you" constantly. Alright, I am 90000000000% convinced that this isn't just playing around anymore. They're both romantically in love with each other, but as Matsuri said.... She can't take it further, because she is afraid if ruining their relationship. If this doesn't convince people, then I don't know anymore. All I want them is to be both happy, so I really really *HOPE* that they at least be together in the future or be happy and find their true love. Whatever their choices is, whatever ethnicity and gender they choose to find their love with.... I'll support them. So yeah.

I dont think there is any particular point when people fall in love. And maybe they aren't in love yet either. Right now it seems to be strong infatuation bordering on love. From what I can tell Matsuri and Luna have a lot of contact off-stream, so their relationship naturally developed over the months.

Too bittersweet, it hurts that they continue as friends despite acknowledging something so intimate and personal, this is the whole reason why I doubt the authenticity, because most people would choose to distance themselves once they find out it's hopeless, if they continue being friends then they're either satisfied with the current label, or whatever feelings they assume you have had, were actually different. I don't know about other people but after experiencing too much bitter love, some people would rather give up or immediately push through, those that becomes martyrs are either too idiotic or naive.

While I'm inclined to agree that it's very difficult to continue a relationship have romantic feelings have been laid out it's not impossible. It all depends on how strong the relationship was prior to a confession. If both parties can come to terms with it then it can go on but if one side can't let go then that will likely be the end of the relationship.
