Ok, I've seen Matt live performing 4 times and he is an amazing performer. He owns the moment and has a commanding stage presence. The guy tours an awful lot more than most people ever do and delivers every time. Let me tell you, the performance and rendition of this song that these people received this day was truely outstanding! He gets so lost in the music, for most other performers this would lose the audience but not Matt. So much heart and sole in every song.
A friend linked me a song of his from facebook on my PC and I was looking down on my phone as i clicked it. As soon as he started singing I was drawn to look up and pay attention. That's quite the power.
Homie on the bike passing by heard that strum of chords & thought, "I oughtta listen to this now, hold up, wait a minute." & paused to listen. I'm sure he was satisfied pedaling his way on home afterwards.
You throw me water when I'm drowning You take my kindling when I'm cold You give me matches when I'm burning And give me pennies for my gold You've got a heart as hard as diamonds Shines like a piece of coal Buried deep in the ground Like your coal black soul You got one hand in my pocket The other hand's on the spade Sending me to the bottle And into my early grave Now I've tried like hell to leave you But you keep pulling me back Your love is like a freight train And I'm tied to the track No soul on earth could love you No man can satisfy Only hell's own fire will ever warm you You should be the devil's bride
This is his best rendition of the song that I've heard guitar-wise. His vocal delivery in the other video with the blueish lighting is also amazing and the sound quality is better. But his playing here is top-notch.
Gets everything out of that guitar!~~ That thing gotta be a mile out of tune by the end of each song if he plays every number like this. No babying the axe.....that ain't what it's for with this music.
