Im a mediator, its not rare for men to get sole custody. Thats a misnomer. Its more realistic to say most men dont request sole custody because they assume they are going to lose. About the same percentage of men and women who request sole custody get it. But women are more likely to request it.

Our friend got married senior year. Fast fwd 12 yrs and all three of us ended up with six-figure paying jobs. My friend was a great husband and father but his wife decided she no longer wanted to be married so she divorced him. Me and my brother are single and built our homes from the ground up, drive foreign cars and travel. Our friend (who has higher salary than us) lives in a two bedroom apartment and drives used cars because he pays $3,500 a month in alimony and child support. With her new found riches his ex wife built a 5 bedroom house and parades several different men in and out of the house. This is %100 a true story so I hope you guys take heed. Peace
