This sounds very interesting. I love the Golden Girls and if this show is written well and the chemistry is good between all the leads, then I hope it takes off!!!

Omgggg, I wonder if this is like a spiritual successor to the proposed Silver Foxes sitcom idea from a while ago, which, to my knowledge, only got so far as getting a radio adaptation and that was it. Super cool to see a Golden Girls inspired show, this time with mostly older men, and I can't wait to see how it goes - really hope it stays for as long as the Girls did!!! 🤞😊

Matt Bomer seems somewhat young.. Neil Patrick Harris would probably be a better choice in my opinion.. he definitely known for comedy

If they can make the characters as charming and funny and relatable as they did with Will and Grace (and as their Golden Girls inspiration) it may be a hit. But if it's simply a bunch of gay-themed one-liners (like Will and Grace could have been), then it will quickly fizzle out.

If they give Nathan Lane intelligent comedy and not just shrieking campiness, it could be dynamite.

When I was thinking of a Golden Girls inspired TV show, I thought it would be The Golden Boys/Guys. 4 old men, and not gay, but since it is required by law, with at least one gay man in the house.

As long as Murphy stays as a producer and doesn't interfere too much with the actual writing and direction, this shouldn't be so bad. Murphy will literally turn every show he directs into a boring melodrama full of "sassy comments" and internalized homophobia

Comparing this to Golden Girls sets the bar pretty high and almost ensures failure. To me, they would have done better to present it as a new concept with genius writing and direction and a capable cast. But good luck...

No doubt it'll be funny, & I'm sure I'll watch it. But it's kind of a shame that the coming together of such great talent (both on & off screen) couldn't come up with something original. [P.S. Linda Lavin would have had to be 18 to be Nathan Lane's mom lol]

Sounds like an interesting idea. If those four have good chemistry together, and if the writing and directing is on par with Will and Grace, it could be good! But it has to have all three, otherwise it’s probably not going to work. The chemistry question is the biggest one for me, and the one I feel the most uncertain about. I will be checking it out, though.

Great cast, and I love that the team from Will & Grace is behind it, but...what made W&G and The Golden Girls so entertaining is that the characters held nothing back. They were SAVAGE with each other in a way that was hilarious, but I'm not sure would fly today. Linda Lavin and Nathan Lane are always great, so fingers crossed...🤞🏾

I do love the golden girls…but even the golden palace couldn’t recapture the magic. I like the actors and adore Linda Lavin, but putting it as similar to golden girls is bad idea. Much like comparing King Charles to his mother, Queen Elizabeth, a ho hum guy compared the gold standard. Hope it works but on a pay channel too. Good luck!

Anyone can tell from the premise this has nothing to do with the golden girls. Framing it this way smells of desperation and despite the big name cast this show is likely a dud. If you need to rely on the golden girls street cred with fans to sell your show your show isn’t good.

Matt Bomer is the odd man out here. The producers simply could not NOT include a "hottie," could they? Kinda brings home the sad reality of how much gay men fear old age, that a sitcom supposedly inspired by the GGs just HAD to cast a man who's not even fifty (but looks 35) in the show. as one of the Golden Guys/ It just reeks so badly of eyecandy bait. The GGs were unapologetically old ladies. Imagine how ridiculous the show would have been if one of the "Golden Girls" had been, say, Suzanne Sommers. Meh.

Nathan Lane doesn't do TV very well so even if this is great it won't last very long. Nathan Lane had his own TV series once and it was really fun but it could never find an audience.

This sounds terrible. The Golden Girls we’re about 3 woman supposed to be somewhat close in age. That form a believable friendship. This show has a 46yr old, 55yr old, 78yr old and an 86yr old. So they are no way similar in ages and would not be believable as people who hang out together. Don’t see how it’s comparable to the Golden Girls..
