HOLY SHIT!!!! This guy brought tears to my eyes,he looks exactly like my uncle who passed away in an accident yrs ago...Everything about him is like seeing my uncle.
I love this guy he introduced me to Amy winehouse and I love him since. I will always watch this video, and seeing how things have change for him now, I'm so happy for him.
Alona Maureal That was one and a half YEARS ago - for less than a month!! He had a full tour in early 2014 with his 3rd album, is on his 4th album now, rocked the joint in The Lowry just last Wednesday AND will be doing the lead role of "Huey" in the West End musical "Mempis" from July up until October. He's on twitter and facebook. Follow him and you'll be up to date in no time.
+Shamas A This was Matt's backup song and they ran out of time because he sang another song first (which was edited out). He finished the song about 3 years later on his Unplugged tour, tho ;-) Try "matt cardle no good Lowry Manchester" [ YyHlyvzupuk ]
Still is, but managed to get way more relaxed in front of crowds. Now, you amost can't shut him up, he got so chatty LOL Look up "Matt Cardle Ten Ten Glee Club" (the 5m20s long one) [ zfKC_qfWhyE ]
It's 2 years ago today since we first saw this audition- What an amazing 2 years. I've seen him live 3 times this year and he was stunning each time. Can't wait for album 2 and the new single.
Currently, Matt's actually starring as the lead of "Huey Calhoun" in the West End musical "Memphis" next to Beverley Knight. His acting debut went down a storm with audiences. Reviewers are raving not only about his powerful vocals but also about his compelling and quirky stage presence and his bang-on comical timing. Watching this back ... who da thunk it, eh? :) Matt will also be releasing his 4th solo album towards the end of October.
***** Just perfect then. Haven't listened to mainstream (i.e. what's being pushed in the charts) for over 20 years now. Too samey, too repetitive, too distorted, too autotuned, just too desperately tweaked and bent to appeal to as many people as possible. First I put it down to old age showing in my late teens. Since I discovered Matt, though, I found that it's the music business that has changed. Me, not so much. I like to be able to tell who is actually lending their voice to a song without having to look it up cause it sounds too damn similar to everything/everyone else. I don't even care which musical style it is, as long as it's a distinctive voice that is used as an instrument in its own right. That's probably why I think that everything "mainstream" massively went downhill when Freddie Mercury bit the dust :( If not losing one's individuality is now considered old-fashioned.... yeah, well, then I am old-fashioned. And I'm very happy that there are still people in this world who also actually care about their individuality.
+Julia68yt Thanks so much for posting this update on him. Here in the US news of him is scare. I'm so happy that he is doing well and utilizing other talents!!
You can just tell by Simon's face that he passed his audition. When you have an ear for music you can tell right away if the person has an unique voice and stays in tune. When I first heard Matt sing this song, I felt in my gut that he was going to be in the finals. He is amazing!
Can't get enough of Matt. I've told everybody I meet in person or online about him. He is captivating to say the least. I play his music every night. If he is not one of the top stars now he will be. Love his human laid back demeanor - a simple painter who simply wanted a chance to show what he could do. He got it and he indeed did it. God bless him for the joy he brings me and numerous others too I am sure. I am 72.
Almost. But not quite the background Matt came from ;-) A "simple" musician who had to do odd jobs on the side to pay for studio time and production costs because his music wasn't yet paying for itself. The show just refused to introduce him as such. He was flat out told "We can't say that on air" and changed his bio to a more talent-show-compliant narrative. But if you watch the intros to his "Judges houses" performance you'll notice they already start calling him "gigging musician". And later when he does "First time" in week 5, they very quickly flash some pics from his former bands during the intro, too. If you haven't heard his pre-xfactor music, search for "Seven Summers" and "Darwyn". You'll find a couple of music videos and also playlists of their full albums. Great acoustic and electro rock stuff. Even more to share with friends :)
I had to watch this audition again and again. He was at his very best from the start. What aura. I sure hope he doesn't lose it among glitz and glitter.
It's so amazing to see someone like him succeed. Wow theres this enormous smile on my face just to see how incredibly happy this made him cause he's just so humble and awkward in the cutest way
The guy's got talent!! I enjoy listening to him....almost everything he does is outstanding and I hope that he makes it. It seems that he can really do justice to the old songs (which I love best) and to new songs. I really wish him well !!!.
auditioning for few years now.. and its his turn............thats a lot of hard work and he deserved to win... that means hes not new.......only time has come for him...
