I am never surprised by Matt Damon. His grandparents, dad & younger brother grew up 3 houses down from my house growing up. His dad was older and out of the house when we were young, my sister and I knew his uncle in high school a bit, but afterwards a few years until I moved away. I came home cross country when my mother passed. Matt's uncle was the first person to arrive at my mom's wake and the last person to leave. A testament of rare, neighborly community instilled in this humble, gracious family.
@@eric7591 My grandfather died and our neighbour (who is related to Matt Damon by six degrees of separation) came to his funeral. Matt Damon is awesome.
They said they weren’t surprised because Matt comes from a “humble gracious family”. They didn’t say Matt Damon is a great guy, they said his family is great.
@cartoonraccoon2078 I enjoyed reading her comment. She was at her own mother's funeral, and Matt's uncle was first there and last to leave. This was very meaningful to her, and was representative of what she had seen or felt of his family.
The answer to everything is a little girl I saw on a newscast today who wants to be a music therapist for sick animals and children when she grows up. I burst into tears.
Thank you, Matt, for spreading the story of our horrors. Thank you to somebody who survived Sarajevo during a war! Many people don’t understand, but our dark humor, survival skills, and desire to read or listen to music kept our sanity. Otherwise, we would go crazy! understand that we lived like this for almost four years without Basic needs such as electricity and water, and we were shot every day, literally from snipers to bombs, so that was the only way to keep our sanity and hope that one day it’s going to be better!
Matt, I always admire you for your charisma. As a young guy, you remind us how important it is for us all to remember the simple things that really matter in our lives. Thank you for that!
I can't help but think of Matt Damon's portrayal in team America : world police watching this segment but this guy is truly en empath with wisdom to impart
I'm definitely going to watch this. I love stories about the human spirit shining during the darkest days. Unfortunately we can't seem to live in peace so defiance in the face of horror shines brightest for me.
In my career as a film commissioner, I met up with Matt Damon for a meeting with our governor during some of the Bourne years. Wonderful guy and humble about his success! As nice in person as he is in interviews.
Music is the only thing that humans do where on some level the performers and audience are experiencing the same thing at the same exact instance. Which reminds Us of our humanity.
I don't care what anyone says, Matt can still make another bourne trilogy, and still be absolutely perfect in it. After beating cia, an older Jason tearing through the underworld would be peak.
Matt Damon is still the sexiest man on earth! His hands wrists are so masculine and strong looking. Love his intelligence and compassion. He’s the whole package! Thank you for being you, Matt!
All very well stated, Mr Damon. Music and Video formats may be the last media that reaches both sides of our divided country. We can hope to learn lessons.
Great story. Even before the war, Sarajevo in the former Yugoslavia was the city known for its most vibrant music scene, so no surprise that music was what kept them going. (additional info - often "lost in translation" of Western media or documentaries: Yugoslavia consisted of 6 republics with their 6 constitutions and real wars broke out only in 2, in Bosnia and in Croatia, where Serbs were also a co-partnering nation so to speak, and had resided there in substantial numbers for centuries, such as in East Sarajevo and other parts of Bosnia or in southern parts of Croatia. That's what the war was about: Serbs trying to remain in their homes in those 2 republics. They did not succeed in Croatia (one quarter of a million expelled in Aug '95 in Operation Storm), but in Bosnia, Serbs managed to remain through the established Republic of Srpska as part of today's Bosnia (the Dayton Agreement), while Muslims got what's today called the Federation part of Bosnia. That's what the siege of Sarajevo was essentially all about.)
Thank you for that short summary. I remember being very confused about what was going on there and why. I had always thought of Yugoslavia as one of the freer nations in the Soviet sphere of influence. I hadn't yet taken World History in college, so I only had highschool history classes to go on, which wasn't that in-depth on that region or WWI. During the time of the war, I remember being stunned by the level deprivation people suffered, feeling surrounding trees for heating and cooking, and being sniped when doing ordinary things. I hadn't ever expected to see fighting on European soil again. One day, I hope to visit your beautiful country and region. May peace continue 💚✊
@@erinmac4750 Sweet. Thanks...What happened: there's the version as "understood" by the Western media, then there's the version as "known to be true" by the locals.. and THEN there's what REALLY happened which not even regular locals knew about: Google: "CROATS, BOSNIANS, SERBS, YOU HAVE BEEN MANIPULATED, WAR WAS STAGED - FORMER CIA OFFICER"...otherwise, do visit, any of the 6 republics were beautiful in their own way...Cheers!
The biggest yugoslav republic Serbia had a power hungry dictator in charge who started short war in Slovenia and long wars and ethnic cleansing in Croatia, Bosnia and southern serbian province of Kosovo. Also contributed to the war in Northern Macedonia with huge number of refugees from Kosovo. Ultimately his regime crumbled after economically destroying his own country. Serbia lost all wars and was the only republic to lose territory in the end, with many people killed and lives destroyed across all of former Yugoslavia, but a class of people from dictator's regime got very wealthy. At the same time in the 90s, Czechs and Slovaks gave up on their joint country of Czechoslovakia in a peaceful way. So there was another way. (Check history books for more information)
@@Lawrence.Laurentius Textbook Western media version, what you described😊some of my other comments here have been deleted by YT and censored. Oh, well..Simply speaking it's like this: if a nation accepts to be occupied by NATO, like Czechs/Slovaks etc, no need for war. If there is a black sheep, such as Serbia, which was the only republic that was against NATO, still is and had to be bombed into submission (but only of its Kosovo part, that's how far NATO got with Serbia)..then they're smeared by Western media and by other republics that accept NATO occupation (Croatia, Slovenia, N. Macedonia) and people who watch Western media are fed with info such as "power hungry dictator".."started a war" blabla..Have it your way...
Osho: "creativity is the greatest rebellion there is." Music 🎶 the arts 🎨 are so incredibly powerful. They represent the expression of the human spirit and heart in us all. It can't be denied; it's life itself, life energy, love, awareness. It is the truth of reality in the face of blind ignorance and darkness. No one can take music and art and human creativity from us ✨️ !
Well, he's aging well. Unlike some other actors. I was in former Yugoslavia during the turmoil, and it was not fun at all. Unfortunately I never got to see the art portion of it.
This was done also Desert Storm soundsystem that went over with the UN convey in a beat up truck and a soundsystem in the back to give free parties to all people in the conflict
I don't think he was trying to con people. A lot of people really believed in crypto. I never did but i could have been wrong. If the heads of these companies weren't criminals like every CEO it seems maybe things would have been different. But i don't think Matt had anyway of knowing what the CEO was up to. I do think it's a cautionary tale though and celebs should be careful on what they endorse as it can end up really hurting their image
I feel like even though i know who Matt Damon is and obviously what he looks like, if I ran into him in some random store I wouldnt even clue in to who he is until like 5 days later and even then Id be like... "naw... that wasnt real"
Neil Peart at one time, had both his sticks duct taped to his closed fists. He did it long enough for one album, Caress of Steel. You tell me how well it worked.
I haven't seen this movie, but from what I understand, tensions are getting hot in that part of the world. I hope not, but if anyone can share more information, I'd appreciate it. ❤️✌️
by making this film only available to paying subscribers of a specific streaming service it gives the impression that making money from the effort is more important than getting the humanist message out as wide as possible.
You're not understanding how film distribution works today. Someone buys the completed film and agrees to foot the bill for the marketing worldwide, which is a huge financial commitment. Of course it's something you need to pay to see. Think of films as commodities. Hollywood is Wall Street, it's all about return on investment. I hope that helps.
@@Kinesiology411 i have worked for many entertainment companies including the biggest Hollywood studios for over the last 45 years. But thanks for assuming that because I said something that challenges current institutions that I must not understand how they operate. I hope that helps.

"Legitimate dark forces trying to divide us".... true story, Mr. Damon. Music? Vibration and frequency put into motion by intention. Can be of light or of dark but music is a spectrum of force and a magic all of its own. Music is the language of the world. Not everyone speaks it but most understand it. Those who have no use for music? I don't trust them at all. Lol
