Matt Damon is one of my favourite actors he was in Ireland through covid and presented himself one of the guys his uptake on our mr Murphy is no more than I thought of this likable American man
Cillian is one of Ireland's greatest actors of recent times, we Irish are very proud of him and the tribute by another great actor, Matt Damon, means a lot.

you need to look deeper he has some deep arrogant issues treating people like 💩 from some things ive seen ..use to like him but after seeing some stuff i thought who is this ..anyway moving on
@@thecelt4807j You might like to be the one who looks 'deeper': he's got a fantastic reputation as a human, fwiw. If you're reading tabloids - tragic. Think on that couch ninja gossip biddy mode, bruh.
Cillians eyes are his best tool the man can scare the hell out of you or rip your heart out just with his eyes I watch EVERY episode of Peaky Blinders and when he is on scene you read the moment in his eyes
I like this interviewer. I liked the questions he asked. It was interesting and not the same boring generic questions, and you could tell he was really listening, not just waiting to get to the next question.
This is one of those movies that will be studied by newer generations because it really shows what elements a good movie is truly made of. I really hope they win some top shelf awards. They deserve it.
Watching recent seasons of Peaky Blinders, perhaps that program has given Cillian more as the series and seasons have gone on, it became apparent the extent to which this man can absolutely command the screen and a scene. He's a gifted actor. Looking forward to this.
He was superb in Peaky Blinders, and got better with every season. Especially the interactions of him and Tom Hardy are breathtaking. Two of the best actors currently on the planet interacting onscreen is just delightful to watch.
@thechrysanthemums I'm watching it for the 5th time, never gets old to me , it's just an incredible cast and performance, and Cillian is superb, to say the least .
"This Ryan better be worth it. He better go home and invent a longer lasting light bulb or something" - Captain Miller from Saving Private Ryan _Proceeds to help invent the Atom Bomb that can destroy mankind_
Definitely up there, this film from what I’m hearing is one of the best performances of all time from Murphy and if that’s the case that’s amazing and inspiring that he can get to that level from growing up in the same city as me
There is no number one. Cillian is a wonderful actor. But Denzel, al pachino, Robert downey jr., Daniel day Lewis, Anthony Hopkins, Christian Bale, Morgan freeman,Tom Hanks, Robert de niro, Leonardo etc. all are worthy.
Leaving aside many, way too many comments (staying away from the "comment" section is basic common sense, yet here I am contributing), Cillian Murphy is great as the title character, so is Robert Downey Jr in a supporting role. Both went the "method acting" way to some extent. Both delivered. Matt Damon was quite good also.
In reference to Matt's comment, "I started out as a private and now I'm a general.", Cillian has gone from being a potential victim of a major virus that could affect all mankind ("28 Days Later") to being complicit in a project (Manhattan Project) that could potentially make victims of all mankind (“Oppenheimer”)….
What amazes me about a role like that, one that is in every scene, is how an actor can maintain his consistency throughout. Felt the same about Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln. BTW - whose shirt is Matt Damon wearing?
Never actually watched Cillians peeky blinders so didn't watch much of his works but over time grew to admire him and his talents Only thing i knew of the guy was the part he played in Quiet place 2 Still, looking forward to see Oppenhiemer
Cillian was the lead role in a great sci-fi film that takes places in space called Sunshine. It also incidentally has a bomb as the central part of the story. The soundtrack has my favorite piece of film music, Adagio in D Minor by John Murphy. Wonder Woman many years later took that song and used it too. 28 Days Later is one of Cillian's films that is very well liked by fans. And he was in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy as the Scarecrow villain.
Great take Jane, I was going to reply talking about Sunshine and you took most of the words right out of my mouth. The movie is terrific and the song completely next level and so stirring I must have listened to it hundreds of times over the years and it never really gets old. The one other highly memorable performance of Cillian's that comes to mind is Inception. He may not have been the main character, but his performance is central to a terrific picture. I saw Oppenheimer opening night and as amazing as Cillian's performance is, even at 3 hours it's the totality of the movie that blows you away. 11 miles is the length of the IMAX 70mm film, and virtually every inch of it is riveting.
Cillian has a small supporting role in Inception but, like his costar Tom Hardy, he punches well above his weight with a performance that is at the emotional core of the movie and makes you tear up. And yeah another great supporting performance in Nolan's 2017 movie Dunkirk as a traumatized soldier in WWII. Recommend that too! For smaller films where he's the lead, check out Where the Wind Shakes the Barley, beautiful Ken Loach movie about Irish independence and civil war history.
@@roadrollerdio565 Watched him in Dunkirk. Have to agree he played that role perfectly as well as Tom Hardy's performance as the spitfire pilot. Both actors i hold in very high regard. Another actor i really respect is Gary Oldman. While he's best known for being an A lister Hollywood star, I think his best performance by far, for me personally that is, is Darkest Hour.
WHERE ARE ALL THE SETS FROM CHRISTOPHER NOLAN'S FILMS? This would be the coolest attraction in the world! Imagine: riding on the Endurance spacecraft or the Interstellar planes, visiting Cooper's house, hanging in the Tesseract like the main character, driving the Batmobile and having a drink in its cave, walking through the spinning room in Inception, strolling through the town of Oppenheimer. Just imagine. Where is all of this?
He definitely should. I can see Joaquin for Napoleone and Leo for Killers of the Flower Moon also getting nominated but Cillian definitely deserves to take home the trophy.
@@larskarlsson1959 RDJ definitely needs to be nominated but I have to see everything else coming out this year to give him the win. But as of now he's the front runner.
His thin to begin with, but in this movie he's looking extra thin, like something is eating him up from the inside. Oppenheimer had that same look, it happens a lot to people who are internally conflicted..
In the wake of the UFO crash that followed the Trinity test, I believe, that General Leslie "Dick" Groves was tasked with the back engineering of Alien technology. With, Roswell 1947, this became urgent and he left the US Army, and went to work for the Sperry Rand corporation, in 1948.
Great job, Matt. One of the 'least comfortable' great movies I've ever viewed. Probably bears noting this movie's intent was clearly the antithesis of 'comfortable' - as it should be. Any meditation on the immolation of tens of thousands of men, women and children is, at best, difficult. And the fact that the use of these monstrosities likely saved thousands of US soldier's lives (by obviating the need for a full-scale invasion of the Japanese homeland) feels a bit like the most extreme form of damning with faint praise. For sure, I'm grateful many American lives were saved - no question. Simultaneously the image (not part of this movie, thankfully) of Japanese children, who survived the immediate detonations, trying to slake their intense thirst caused by the intense heat and radiation of the blasts by opening their mouths to the highly radioactive particulate-caused rain drops that fell, virtually guaranteeing their deaths by radioactivity poisoning, is painful to the mind and soul of any even marginally thoughtful person. And the tired refrain of "Yeah, but the Japanese started it" misses the point entirely. I keep wondering when the grownups will come back... Oh, and yes, Cillian Murphy's (along with the rest of the cast's) performance was just short of staggering. "Bravice", Mr. Nolan.
Great movie, wish they chilled it with the score /music , like i just wanted to let the dialog really sink in, the music was a bit distracting but I assume it had to be some studio decision because maybe they thought people would find those scenes boring? Wasnt needed.
Personally, don’t think too highly of Matt Damon. I don’t think politics belong in Hollywood. Now, I do agree with him about Cillian Murphy. There just seems to be an authentic and freeing vibe that he gives off.
Did anyone hear Cillian’s clear Cork accent throughout the whole movie though? I mean the acting was great but then it got me confused in the middle of the movie bc at one point I genuinely thought Oppenheimer might be an Irish person and Cillian was portraying that 😅
I wonder if he knows he can ask questions that aren’t related to Ireland. I’m Irish and live in Dublin, but it’s embarrassing to see that when an Irish media company get time with a world class actor, the best they can come up with is a load of questions about Ireland. It makes us look like a small hick inward looking village
You know how you sound like? Like you agree with annihilation of entire city full of civilians to gain advantage. Beside Japan was already loosing and close to surrender. I wonder if you agree also with annihilation of Moscow or Kiev to end their conflict.
@@MrSudzio well they were close to surrender but we solidified it. then had to double check and make sure they surrendered. maybe just dont team with nazi's
Im irish and we all love Cillian and all his work but in fairness he always plays the same type of character...always like a deep, sombre, intelligent, good or bad you love his characters or hate them when he's villain, but they are all basically the same personality.....what is a great actor these days??? I look at the likes of Tom Hardy and his range is phenomenal,I dont think that cillian could pull off the roles he has,i think cillian would have done a great kray twins in legend,he woukd have made that his own, just like Tom did..but I dont think cillian has that sort of skill like Tom has
Inception, red eye, in time, red lights, sunshine, the wind that shakes the barley. All different diverse roles. They're not non-existent, you just haven't seen them.
@@CreepyPepper iv seen them all pal,n he's always the same ,deep kinda sullen character, scarecrow was his only role where he flipped the switch,id like to see him do more unhinged characters, also most of his roles were written with him in mind as writer n directors first choice for them, theres even an interview where murph himself said he always gets the same type of characters,I actually think its a batman begins interview where he said that cos ue was excited to play the role of a lunatic,,he would make a brilliant joker or riddler.
What about Perrier's Bounty, Delinquent season, Free Fire, The Party, Peacock, Breakfast on Pluto - very diverse characters there and some comedies too.
