This man singlehandedly influenced me to pick up playing the bass when I was 15 years old back in 2004, I will never be on his level. He's definitely on my Mount Rushmore of bass guitarists. Him, Geddy Lee, Les Claypool and Flea. They are the cream of the crop in my eyes

Ditto. I saw them live in '98, and it's what inspired me to start a punk rock band with my friend. Rancid was and is responsible for me learning how to play music, and I will always be in their debt.

This song is probably my first introduction to Rancid in the early 90s. I was already into punk and a big fan of Op Ivy. I was probably 16 or so and bought a compilation VHS with a bunch of different punk singles on it, including this one. I used to watch that shit over and over again. Such a great heavy bass line, and wanting to learn it is what got me into playing the bass. Thanks for sharing Matt, you're a true stoker.

Hi Matt, I’ve been playing bass on and off for the last 23 years. A long time I didn’t think that it would even be possible to play along untill my friend and I started playing covers in our studio. I started with 11th hour and later on we followed with ruby, timebomb, roots. Now I almost play along with aoctw except for maxwell. Every now and then I try to figure out the solo but I don’t hear it and don’t know why. But that’s fine, it’s a great song to listen to and maybe I will figure it out someday. Anyway, thanks you for these video’s. They make you as a person approachable. Also these vids are so valuable for figuring out the lines you created many years ago.

Any chance you could follow up the music-accompanied play through with one that's just bass? I'm realizing that all of these songs I play sound a bit two dimensional and it's hard to isolate the bass and pick out those little flourishes that give the baseline depth. (And while I'm here, my vote for next song is The Crowd.)

Thanks for doing this, these were great during covid, great to put together on one channel and even better to keep going with! My own musical inspiration comes from Matt's bass playing!
