Matt Garstka is giving a full master class at PASIC 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Matt is hanging out in the metric modulation mode, dabbling i n the 5 and 7 subdivisions!!! Please SUBSCRIBE TOO MY CHANNEL!! MORE CONTENT COMING!!!!
Matt is brain teaser for sure. That being said. What’s some other drum content you would like to see from this channel? Who are you interested in, would you like to see some reaction vids, and/ or more educational drum vids? Let me know you thoughts!
Man... Im not a great drummer but I did drum for many years. This guy is just screamin' on that set bro. Singing his heart out. For anyone that isn't a drummer... it can be super magical. You don't even have to be anywhere near this insanely solid to get a beautiful feeling. As a drummer I just know, when his head is swirling or some of that 7 5 switchup in the second song... dude is feeling like he is spiraling into heaven. Shit. I think I gotta start drumming again.
MG has accomplished so much in a short amount of time. There's no doubt he will be heralded as one the greatest drummers in history. There's so much more to come from him in the coming years. Amazing talent.
this is what happen when humility meets drive , humility is required when stepping into the bounds of "godly" talent its was never God's power that made him God it was always his humility its why the best of the best are also some of the most humble it is a common trait amongst the extremely talented from athletes and artist to engineer and architects.
The young Vinnie Colaiuta, the best young drummer today..really a killin drummer, whats interesting is, he didnt sound anything close to this amazing in college and after Berklee he stepped into a completely different level..most drummers always sound the same, even Antonio Sanchez didn't sound that different from college until now. MG just keeps getting better...
Though I agree with you re Matt but you’re totally wrong about Antonio. He was a way different drummer when he was at Berklee in both style and level. Saw him play a ton back then. He was amazing back then but afterwards he was on another level.
Thanks for sharing! Seeing Matt make mistakes must be one of the most inspiring things to see. You see he's always giving his 100% and setting new boundaries for drumming. Must have been amazing to see it all live!
The part that really hit home is when he said if you layer this stuff over each other it ends up being flams because of how similar it is. No one knows if you play 5,7 or 9 tuplets. It only makes sense in the drummers head as it's all perception of which one you believe you are playing
This guy have a brain for each arm and leg, his skills are out of this world. Matt at this moment I not only one of the best drummers in the world, maybe one of the most skilled drummers in the history. Thanks for upload!
Juan it sure seems that way frfr Matt having a brain in each limb! LOL!! and I must agree with your statement . He has put some time in his craft for sure, and I believe he is of the leading top drummers in the world!!!
When I saw AAL years ago tosins rig kepted going down. So they took a break to trouble shoot his setup. After a few minutes Matt came back out and just performed what must have been a ten minute solo. Javier joined in towards the end and it was just amazing. He is just fun to watch play, just having a great time up there.
Thanks so much for this. I’ve always been looking for drummers to clear up the whole numbers and the colors of music. This is the first time it’s been explored so thoroughly. I needed this!
Rythem is a great tool to explore and grow from . When we start to think outside the box that is when we really can start to understand rythem to its fullest. Another Musican that opened up a lot of freedom to music is Virgil Donati .
Wow! absolutely phenomenal playing! Mesmerizing timing/chops! Love it! My favorite solo was at 20:22 Man I wish I could do some of that in my solos! LOL!!! :) Love you Matt! From a fellow channel drummer. Happy Holiday's! :)
I remember the first time I saw him. It was random youtube recommendation of AAL at the brutal assault event. I listened The woven web and thought - what a hell is this...and I spotted insane drummer in the middle. Soon after I watched his playthrough AAL videos I knew he is the best drummer I've ever seen in my life.
Thats so awesome!! This was my first time seeing. him live!! I seen him on VF Jams on youtube. After seeing him at PASIC live chopping it up, I have a whole new level of respect for Matt. He has become one of my favorites for sure!!!
What I love about Garstka is that he's pushing metric modulation to such an incredible and musical degree, that most people have no idea what they're hearing, but they like it. For those of us that do, it's pure inspiration for next level performance.
