MusicIsLife826 Yeah but then again, it couldve also happened for not icing or properly throwing his off speed. I just look at all the great pitchers from the 1900's and question why now we have more tommy john surgery than we did 20 years ago.

Lucien F. Coppola IV Its the stress on the human body. We aren't physically designed to throw a 90 mph fastball, much less a 100 mph+ fastball. That is why very few people can.

Twiggy Twigg I totally agree. It's an awkward motion in our arms when people throw over the top rather than side arm or underhand. There's some guys who can do it, and then some who can't. I just look at Nolan Ryan who was a power arm who pitched for over 30 years without any arm injuries. He either has great health, or he took care of himself and really cared for his arm when playing.

Don't blame him. Blame Terry Collins for not knowing when to take out a pitcher. He did the same with with deGrom and Wheeler a few times. We have a great young pitching rotation and these dumb idiotic managers are ruining it with their stupid decision making.

Went back to this clip today after hearing the news of his drug use. So sad. I always felt bad for him. He blew up too fast at a young age in NYC. Not easy to handle what comes your way when successful in the big city. I always hoped that he would end up back with the Mets pitching in some sort of capacity as a short/middle reliever. It's amazing out of all the great promising young arms we had, dEgrom is the only one who made it through.

His downfall is a really sad story. And that’s coming from a Yankees fan. I first saw him pitch on May 7, 2013. My dad took me and my brother to see him pitch. My dad was super excited. He took a perfect game into the seventh inning and Alex Rios (White Sox) broke it up with an infield single. Harvey still pitched nine shutout innings and the Mets won 1-0 in ten innings on a Mike Baxter walk off single.

Damn I remember when I first watched this and was so hopefully for the Mets. Harvey was the best young pitcher in baseball. He only ended up pitching 1 full season in his entire Mets career. It was a World Series trip but man there was more to accomplish for him.
