Like many, I've also been there. back at 19yo. I'm 32 now, married, two kids, 3 cars, and a large dog. Being a father is typically a thankless job. but it's those little moments that make it worth it. Come home and pass out from exhaustion, wake up at 7pm and find one of your babies in your arms watching TV. That love makes life worth fighting for.

id suggest telling them then as ive had a few things keep me from it and a few people push me to it. ive never had many friends when i was in school or ones that cared at all over all even now at 19 going to 20 i still dont but i got my job and a few people now that keep me going even when it hurts to do anything. truly its worth thanking them for the help when ever you can as even something as small as a hug can save a life.

Even though it’s been 6 years since you wrote this comment, please share this with your friend. And before you disqualify it as “too much time has passed” or “it wouldn’t make a difference if I did”, hear me out. As humans, we ALL want to know that we made a difference in another’s life - a positive difference. Many times we don’t find that out directly, sometimes we do. But when you’ve got the chance to tell your BEST FRIEND…..man, DO IT! You never know when thoughts could be going through his head at some point during his life when HE’S struggling - wondering “what the hell difference do I make”, etc. Don’t ever think you truly KNOW, EVERYTHING a person is going through. After all…..he doesn’t even know what hard time YOU were going through, so badly that YOU were struggling with ending it. He never knew. 😉 “Make that call.” 😉 It’ll do your heart REAL good. Trust me.

My friend took her Life. The day before she did I had a feeling I should have called her. I never did. It is the single greatest regret of my life. I could have stopped her. Ever since then I have always followed through. A couple of months ago, I was able to talk my girlfriend out of a suicide attempt. I know God lives. I hope y'all make the call, don't ever ignore what God tells you.

At 15 years old, I was done with everything. The guy I loved left me, it felt like my mom didnt care, my step dad was abusive, the list goes on. I tried overdosing on pills. I got lucky. I didnt take enough. It was a failed attempt. But had it not been, I wouldnt have know that my oldest was going to make his appearance into the world in 7 months. Things got better. I realized my mom cared but was going through her own stuff and was having her own difficulties. She left her now ex husband, I married the man I was in love with back then and we're now waiting on our 3rd child. Things still get rough sometimes, but I'm so glad things turned out the way they did.

This is the truth. My dad committed suicide when i was 17. It was a Saturday morning. He called me at 5 am, I was at my best friends house. Being a teenager, i didnt think much of it. He woke up at 4-5 usually. I answered and said "dad are you Crazyyy its 5 am." And laughed. He said "oh sorry were you sleeping?" I with a teenage attitude said "obviously dad. Can i call you when the suns up". I talked to him at about 9. At 11:30 i felt sick, i told mt best friend i had to leave and go check on my dad something felt off. I got there and he had committed suicide. Thankfully when i arrived he wasnt deceased so he didnt die alone. He died holding my hand knowing that i loved him more than anything and appreciated everything he did being both the parents i needed on his own. The ambulance arrived and he passed. I wish I wouldnt have made him feel like a bother that morning. I had NO IDEA what he was feeling. Maybe he called to talk it through. We were best friends. I wish he would have just told me to quit being a brat. Or that i would have known. I just thought he was calling to see if i had fun for my birthday the night before.

Make sure you let your brother know that you love him and once he is old enough to understand, make sure he knows that if it wasn't for him, you wouldn't be here to be his older sibling. I know what you mean by you couldn't for that in front of him, I'm 15 and have 5 younger siblings. I could never take my life in front of any of them. I have very seriously contemplated suicide. I still do occasionally. I've been struggling for over a year with depression and anxiety, believe me, it's not easy.

Hey Matt i doubt youll ever read this but 3 years ago you saved my life. I was sitting in my dodge pickup with a loaded 9mm lookin at the barrel. My mother was going through stage 4 luekmia and I was about to give it all up. I received a call i was having a little girl. She's now 3 and because of you i have took up country singin and playin guitar. Mama was so happy and i havent seen a smile that big in many years. For the first time she got out of that bed and walked. She did not walk for many months, because of that little girl she gained strength. Sadly mamma lost her battle but your song reminds me every day to keep fighting. Remmeber the name cause one day we will meet and i hope i can be on stage together. JW Harris sir. God bless and much obliged.

This song hits me so deep in my soul. In 2010 I was assaulted by my ex. By the fall of 2011 I had a complete mental breakdown over the trauma, the stress of a trial against him, and just trying to process what happened to me. One day things got so bad that I found myself in my car, driving, fast, towards a tree I knew was big enough that I wouldn't survive the impact. I had never in my life been suicidal, but that day, it was all just too much and I was absolutely done and truly felt my family and friends would be better off not having to watch the train wreck I had become. 2 miles before I got to that tree, my phone rang. I wasn't going to answer it but I looked at it and my 13 year old niece's name was on the caller ID. I knew I couldn't let her think I had tried to answer and wrecked, so I answered. All she said was Hi Aunt Jamie, what are you doing? Just the sound of her sweet, precious voice was enough to snap me out of the devastation I was feeling and before I knew it, I had passed the tree, pulled over immediately and tried to hide the tears that were falling so she wouldn't know and I just talked to her about the things 13 year old girls talk to their Aunt about. That girl saved my life that day and she doesn't even know it. 10 years later I'm so very thankful for that call. If you're at the place I found myself in 10 years ago, I hope and pray that either you make a call to get help or the call that can save you comes. Life is worth living. It does get better. Please don't give up. If you know someone who may be in a bad place, make the call. It might just save their life.

I was considering ending it all, i was sitting on base (because i couldnt have a weapon), i was about to drive home and get one. I called everyone in my phone, 1 guy answrred the call and invited me over, he is the reason im here today. He heard the hurt in my voice and invited me to his place, no one else including my girl friend of the time cared enough. I now live my life in a way to give back to him and his actions. My phone is always available to those near me.

You are so right. I am elderly and I know what its like to not have visitors. To be fair, I do live a ways from most who I care about. They are raising families and have jobs, trying to make ends meet. So itis understandable that I do not see them often. And I love them just the same. So, I spend a lot of time with phone visits with some who are shut-ins, disabled, etc. It may sound like I think I'm so special. But NO! But I do feel blessed. And loved. And it makes me feel useful and it does make me feel uplifted. God is good!

The beginning of this song is so emotional for me as the first time I heard this was right after my second cousin who we were decently close with his family decided to kill himself. Nobody knew why because he had a beautiful girlfriend and two perfect kids and just starting his life. the only reason i can think of is because he also served in the military and the video is right on. He had everything ready his laundry was folded his room was cleaned and they found him on the side of his bed. I have so many good memories with him and my favorite was all the times we would be wrestling in the basement when we weren't supposed to

ABSOLUTELY love this song, i personally think its the best country song thats out right now, i can relate to this so from beginning to end, i am a person who suffers from depression , up until i met my now husband i struggled with depression to the point i questioned my life daily, thinking and trying to find away out, i remind him every day that he saved my life, I also had a ex who tried to convince me that i should of gotten a abortion with our son, i choose not too even if it meant that i would be raising him by myself, unfortunately I loss my son due to kidney failure and pre-mature labor... this song hit home for me in every aspect, it is a very personal song and those who have experienced these situations could agree. some times all it takes is for someone to pick up the phone the call, people who suffer from depression or ptsd are not people seeking attention, sometimes we need to be reminded that there are people who do care and we do matter, the mind is a power tool and if you suffer from depression, the depression over powers the "normal thinking" process.

I wanted to end my life about two months ago. I felt something different when I tried. My brother walked into my house and told me to grab my fishing pole. I hid the gun in the couch as my 2 nieces ran to me and jumped in my arms. That was my wake up call. Don't leave the the babies grow up without their uncle/father/cousin etc. Your family needs you point blank.

I've been in this same spot. In 2006 I got out of the Corps after serving my time, 3 tours in Iraq. Completely lost my mind and couldn't get a handle on where to find it. Everyday was a new day worse than the previous day, just couldn't get a grasp on life. I was at such a low that I was physically sick from it. I lost my wife, my friends, everything I worked for just went away. On the night I was about to give myself eternal rest, my phone rang. After that I was hospitalized 5 times throughout 3 years. 7 years later at 0346 I was at work and missed a call from Brian, the guy that saved me.. later that morning at 0611 his brother called me and told me Brian had ended his life at roughly 0400. My world stopped. It's been a few years but the guilt hasn't let up, I'll never forget or forgive myself for not answering that call. My life has moved on but I think about him daily. I'm still here, I'm living my life to its fullest for the both of us but it still hurts...

Hey man, I'm sorry for your loss, youre doing right by continuing to live life for yourself and him. You're never alone, there IS a plan, there IS a path, sometimes the hardest parts of life lie right before the best parts of life. What you have been through has not gone unseen, if you'd like, you can message me and I'll give you my info, you wouldn't bother me with a Phone call if you ever felt like you needed it.

Dont let the quilt in.. one night . Day after I had a fight with the gal who changed my life.. I went for a run. Indtead of going north. I went south on another route. Before that I turned my emergency traffic info off. The next day I found out my buddy and friend snapped. . A week later I cried once and only in front of her . Even on her shoulder. And tried to explain it to her. I broke down . A week before that I was putting stuff in order and her daughter came in and asked me to help with something. Went in the house and helped the kids with homework. . 3 years before that I was on my way out to buy a shotgun and blow my brains out in cabales parking lot. If it wasnt for the CID guy relaxing after he found out where I was going. Shit would have got real, real fast. Fast forward a year later after that run. I donated blood down range. Dont know if it helped but I know it did something positive . I side tracked. Keep pushing forward life was made for you to live. Your gunna die eventually ,we all do. Make the most of your time. Regardless of what you think or know. There is someone some where wanting to or needing to hear your speak . Someone is awaiting you. After that run. I didnt knom it till years later but I helped save three of my buddys lifes. Two of them by just calling and a third by hanging out with him. Didnt even know till years later they said thank you . . You still have someone waiting to touch your life positively and you still have someone waiting for you to touch thier life. . When it's your number the higher powerwill punch you out . Not you. I lost a good friend recently to a heart attack. Theres things I wish I'd of just said yes to . But he taught me to trust the good in people again . He took the time for me to vent and talk things out and never once belittled me .but bounced ideas with me. Again someone somewhere is waiting for you. Keep that in mind your work isnt done homie.

I've lost several brothers I served in combat with to suicide 20 or more combat veterans commit suicide each day historic record numbers sadly and I can't explain the bond we have that is the term band of brothers you have to experience it and every o e my brothers I lost to suicide was no different then those i lost in combat. To me they died in combat to. I suffer from PTSD and TBI as well as other issues I'm 100% disabled and a retired green beret so I know what it feels like we feel like PTSD isn't fear of the war most Us wish we were still in combat Becaue it's the last time we felt normal and it's sad when we don't feel that way in the country we love so much and were willing to die for and sacrificed so much for so we end up lockng ourselves inside our homes only to leave for VA appointments or when we really have to and some family or friends don't understand and think we can just get over it. Once you are in combat your never the same wasn't until my first tour that I understood my father finally. Even smells can set us off its like we left our souls or part of our minds on the battle field thousands miles away and if I didn't have the love and support of my family and friends I would of been part of the statistics plauging combat veterans today who commit suicide. We don't sleep for days until we crash partly because we fear the nightmares and partly because our minds won't shut down. And our emotions are almost impossible to control I never was a person who cried easy now I do out the blue at times when thoughts or even a war movie or song like this hits so close to home. Some of us haven't slept in the same bed as our spouses for years because we're afraid a nightmare might make us hurt them and it will and just once is enough and without a strong marriage or supporting wife it will destroy your marriage divorce and other issues regular people deal with on top of PTSD from combat it can all just build to the point we rather end it and not wake up. Anyone who's related of good friends even acquaintances with a combat veteran even if they say their ok or don't have ptsd Because it's hard for us to admit it especially special forces soldiers when they called it shell shock in Vietnam and wars before the military didn't acknowledge it they considered it cowardice or weakness general patton lost his chance of being the supreme allied commander to Eisenhower after he slapped a soldier in the hospital for she'll shock calling him a coward saying ordering him put of bed that he didn't deserve to be amongst all the wounded who were real men he was already on thin ice for not knowing his place and getting along with others so Eisenhower who never been in combat served WWI state side and was refuses everytime he put in for a command overseas In the war while patron was a decorate combat veteran. So until recently we didn't accept or admit we had PTSD took wife and daughter to get me to finally seek help. But not all combat vets have that kind of support so please give them all the support you can even a call or text can save a life
