im a liverpool fan and that goal he scores against us sending our center backs falling, Im not even mad at him, how can you be, sometimes a player is just special, Matt was that and 100% under used for England, the fact a player like that got only 8 caps is fricking madness

One day I'll hope to live to see the day when people don't start a video by saying "It's your boy ______" like they're an early 2000s rapper when in reality they're living in their parents house in suburbia.

only played for 2 clubs his entire career. Southampton then when he was getting too old for big matches he went to play for eastliegh a little club not in any of the big leagues just a small local team just outside southampton. He was told if he wants to play for England he would have to leave southampton and go and play for 1 of the big clubs. he refused and said nope southampton is my team and im staying here till i retire. He didnt care about all the extra money he would of got at another club he just wanted to stay at southampton. he scored the last goal at the dell and the 1st goal at st mary's when they moved to a new stadium. 1st player in history to score direct from a corner and the only player ever to do it more than once. Think he did it 5 times. He was a bit of a lazy player and didnt always want to chase the ball around so he waited in a spot for the ball to come to him. Other times when he was in the mood he scored just for fun and ran all over the pitch setting up goals for other players. But he had more lazy days than good days. But he still loved to score great goals. Pitch conditions meant nothing to him. Could be a mud bath and he still played like a genius. Modern players can only play on perfect pitches with no mud. Doubt many of the current crop of players could play on the old pitches before all the pitch drainage was put in when u couldnt tell what player had the ball or what team it was cause all the players were covered in mud. Even the players didnt know who to pass too cause all they saw was everyone covered in mud lol. But mat was always able to find his team mates no matter the conditions.

Could always find Burgerking too....... It was the constant hammering of his legs which finished him, with those skills he could and perhaps should have played on for a couple more years. If he'd been at a bigger club he wouldn't have had half the tackles he had to tolerate. Clubs came to Saints and just knew if they could crock him they'd probably take the points and not have to feature in a humiliating goal of the month with Le Tiss being the instrument of their torture. Always amazed me how people always said he was slow or lazy and yet his acceleration to get past the opposition always saw him getting to the ball first. Long may he enjoy the adulation.

"OP Shot". yup. Very much yup. grew up with this guy doing this as routine nearly every week. Always used to have Southampton as a "2nd team" because this guy used to score such fantastic goals. Him and Bergkamp where a pure joy to watch.

Xavi idolised Le Tissier when he was a kid and raves about his skills - now that's high praise indeed. Been a footie fan since 1958 in both England and Germany and watched some of the world's finest players and teams in that time. I can say without fear of any contradiction whatsoever that Le Tissier was the best match winning player I have ever had the privilege to watch. For sure there were offers made from both Spurs and Chelsea (there were rumours of others but these two have been confirmed) at the time which would have made him the most Expensive player in the English leagues, he declined and stayed loyal to humble little Southampton and that's the measure of the man.

Better than cr7 in my opinion. Cr7 doesn’t have ability like this. You’ll never see him scoring a goal like that first one.

Who does now? Football is barely a game I recognise any more, most current players would've fallen over in a lot of those scenarios and ended up rolling round on the ground like a twat begging for a player to be sent off. I miss Football as it was. it's shite these days.

@@Grandmastergav86 I’d say that Messi and Neymar both have ability. Just dont think Cr7 has that much ability.. but became a great finisher in the modern game.. where the rest of the team makes the penetration for him.

In todays market he would be worth £150m easy. Not that players are actually worth that, but it is all relative.

You can tell a lot about someone's Football knowledge from their reaction to great goals.....that initial reaction says it all.

Enjoyed the reaction. Recommend 'Maradona Skills Skills Skills' by Wudson Vale to react to (some of the music's questionable but the football's sensational). Maradona Magia in Exclisiva's 'Maradona Skills # 1,2 and 3' have more solid music choices for a wide audience but you'd need to watch all three to get close to the content on Wudson Vale's vid. I saw on your Baggio reaction that you'd like to watch a whole match from the past. You can -there are plenty on RU-vid. (That wasn't a great video by the way -there are much better ones of Il Divin Codino out there. HeilRJ who made this Le Tissier compilation also made a great Baggio vid for instance) A good one might be '1984-5 Serie A Udinese v. Napoli' which is on RU-vid from Old Football Matches (commentary in Russian I think!). It was a famous game that pitted two of the greatest players ever, Maradona and Zico, against each other in the 'Battle of the Playmakers'. I couldn't find them on a casual look but the Manchester United/Juventus semi-final 2nd leg in Turin from '99 was an amazing match that'd be a great watch and the match those two played at Old Trafford in '98 was pretty good too. The showdown between Juve and Inter at the end of the '98 season was another cracking game if you can find it anywhere.
