Xavi said Le Tissier was his childhood hero and that him & all the kids in La Masia were obsessed with Le Tissier after they all used to sit together to watch PL programs in Spain that use to show the weekly goals from PL games and they all were in awe seeing Le Tissier scoring bangers nearly every week. It pleases me so deeply to see this Rants Reacts. I didn't know Rants was old enough to remember Le Tissier. Good Lord, he is the most gifted English player I have ever seen. The insane thing is that he never performed like this for England and never left Southampton who were NOT a force in the English top tier. I don't know if the big two in Spain ever went for him but he was clearly born for these clubs.
Bc we learned the game not wearing shin pads man had to move slower on the pitch to avoid taking heavy knocks. U also learned thru necessity how to maneuver in/out of tight spaces rapidly.. keep defender off balance.

A legend, the most technically gifted English played I've seen in my lifetime and cause the face didn't fit, he didn't get the same amount of chances in an England shirt as the other underperformers - shame.
Best England player of the generation but u need to recognise back then if u were not paying for certain teams u were never in the mix for caps...me and my friends used to laugh how England went yo tournaments and he was not in the squad

The laces/tape at the top of the socks to hold up the socks over the shin pads 🤣🤣🤣 bc they were so jarring n new. If U didn't kick ⚽️ in dem times U would never know what U didn't know. Socks didn't have lycra back then.
_In my day_ if U didn't have close control + proper elite 1st touch, even if U made it onto the pitch as a coach's son, man dem wasn't passing U no ⚽️ even if U were unmarked infront an empty net!
