I was the same way, my first exposure to DnD/Pathfinder was not even reading just looking through the Monster Manuals and Beastiaries when I was younger, they're still my favorite books too.

Am I the only one really hoping that we finally get that giant frog demon from the first few episodes of critical role season 2?

I still remember my first glimpse of d&d. an older cousin left an adventure modules behind. in the desolate, isolated woodlands of the 1980s, this was my first glimpse into "fantasy". i saw a picture of a spider-head and it stuck with me. wasn't until 20 years later i understood what I saw then

I agree completely on looking to the monster manual really has me interested in DND. But my story first started of with Lord of the Rings. I was seven and really interested in history, swords shields etc etc. And watching this.. New reality, these crazy creatures and monsters. It had my imagination blown.. At that point in time, all I knew was Jurassic Park and Star Wars. As well as my brother taking me to a DND game, that we both snuck out of the house to play multiple times. I did not know how to play DND really, how combat worked so my brother's DM asked me some simple questions and I chose "Chef Philipe. The not so famous chef!" And his goal in life was to travel the world and see how food was made, and make a business out of it.The DM thought it would be hilarious and gave me a half orc, half human fighter that would be a mix of barbarian and fighter with a two handed meat clever that would take improvised weapon mastery. The first fight of the game came along with a group of tribal goblins, goblins slain and battle was over. The guys went through the goblins and started talking, meanwhile my character was inspecting the goblin corpses and decided to start gutting and slicing the bodies apart, getting ribs and slices of meat ready for cooking. Everyone at the table was horrified and broke out into laughter. (About seven teenagers, one young adult and a 7 year old in a basement.) The game would continue on once a week for the next.. Few months I believe. And during this my brother was kind enough to show me.. The monster manual. And my draw hit the floor. I was obsessed, looking up every monster and staring at the pictures.. Having my brother help me understand these monsters. Some were so terrifying I would have nightmares! But I was hooked, I was addicted! Eventually me and my brother got caught and soon the DM had to stop DM'ing due to being an adult with responsiblities.. But those moments had really resonated within me. To this day whenever I am making my DND world, I always go to view all the monster manuals of every edition and see how this could influence my world, the stories I wish to craft. The world shaped around these monsters..

What would be nice is a single sourcebook for *all* of the official playable races, and subraces - from Aarakoca to Yuan-ti Pureblood. After all, some DMs, who don't like homebrew stuff, due to OP characters and such, might not know that some of the more exotic races, like the turtle-like Tortles are Official, especially if such races aren't listed in a book, and especially if the player that wants to play Master Oogway, or one of the TMNT guys, can't download the PDF. However, if they are willing to spend money on a hardcover book that has all 100+ Races and Subraces, that might make them, and their DMs, plus the rest of the party, very happy, especially the Tabaxi rogue, the Golith barbarian, the Tortle monk, the Aarakoca paladin, the Centaur bard, the Lizardman ranger, the Dragonborn wizard, the Kenku Sorcerer, Tiefling Cleric, Loxedon Warlock, Human fighter, Minotaur druid, Gnome artificer, and the Hobgoblin mystic - actually, put the different classes and subclasses into a book too, so that Mystic can be used as well. (Of course, if some playable undead could be made, like skeletons and zombies, that would be good too.)

Is the book coming out as a hard copy or only as digital?

What exactly is in the bonus content? Can't pre-order digital when your digital library is only good till the day 6e ever emerges in the future. I prefer to have the physical copy over the digital.
