I have that concern. What if he is giving me what I want, a great interview. Now he can broadcast his message and take over the world. It is probably worth it if he is Sauron only because it was so fun talking to him.
Charlie understands the character and his perfeormance shows the layers of his morals. Even the most evil person can struggle, or be tempted to the light, just like Galadriel was tempted by the darkness. And if there was one person who could give him hope for redemption, it's Galadriel. The way he said in the last raft scene "Not dark, not with you by my side" feels like he believed it. @@anotherdrummingenigma2882 This is why Tolkien's wiring is amazing. It makes it so much more dramatic to have Sauron to be pulled toward the light only to fall.
Charlie Vickers really seems to recognize the potential of building himself as the evil Sauron. I hope he succeeds even as he sinks into the depths of depravity of Sauron. One cannot help admiring his actions as he first appears as Halbrand, then Annatar and finally Sauron at the finale of the season2.
This is outright wrong... Sauron feigned rependence out of fear of the wrath of the valar (arch angels in governance of the world). He was instructed by Eönwë (a being of his order) to return to be judged by the Valar but refused and hid and became the successor to Morgoth (his master.. basically satan). Subtle deception by Vickers here (like his character) to justify the fabricated rubbish in season 1. They were always going to exploit and misinterpret the first couple paragraphs from silmarillion chapter 5 (of the rings of power and the 3rd age) So predictable...
@@neilf6782 Sauron's pride and fear ultimately won, and instead of truly repenting and returning to Valinor, he fled and hid somewhere in Middle-earth. Nowhere is it said he feigned rependence and he also wasn't evil right from the start. Also the lore says Maiar can get weakend if they partake too much in human activity (eating, sleeping, etc.) and he spend a lot of time pretending to be human, so..
