Yep he is a real piece of work. Matt worked his ASS off to build and maintain that farm!!! His family did help, but the main developer was and is MATT! Matt has a right to be proud of what he has built, you can see the deep connection he has for the farm, even if he has to sell it. Sad that his family cant respect what he has done, they just bitch about what he hasn't given them!!!

That's what I don't understand, years and years of telling the children that "this will all be yours someday" only to sell it once they got older. Carrying on the legacy was one of the main premises of the show. Instead, he should have been telling them to save their pennies so that they could buy it from him one day.
After all the talk through the years about how the kids enjoyed the outbuildings like the western town, the castle etc. and how he wanted to see the grandkids enjoy them too it surprises me that he would sell all of that off. If you don't want to sell it to the kids then let them inherit it once you're gone or when you retire. To sell it like this just seems spiteful and petty. For now the grandkids could enjoy it when they visit. I hope Matt replies to this comment.
Are you going to pay for the upkeep? I understand your point but you are not in his position. That place is HUGE. To keep all of this so the grandkids can come and enjoy it once in a while? A 5000 square foot home that is sitting empty? Easy for you to say. I have watched the show from day one and I get what you are saying. But it doesn't make sense. By the way, to sell the property to Zach for WAY less than what it is worth, is very, very unreasonable. I know it caused a riff, but that was also pretty nervy of Zach to expect that. Matt you probably will never read this but what a blessing for your kids that they got to grow up here. I'm just so sorry you wouldn't work with all your kids to keep this or a very small area in the Family. No one did any work on the farm but Matt & those he hired. The kids & Amy never seemed to care or be too excited to help. The kids wanted to get paid. Amy criticized Matt everytime he made an improvement or bought something. Business is business, not family. The kids were lucky to be offered a discount. They passed. I don't blame Matt. None of the kids could run a shoebox, much less a huge farm. Zach needed help & pointers from Chris with a sandbox. Now Zach & Tori are butthurt enough to take it out on Matt by keeping their kids from seeing grandpa. Entitled kids & scorned ex-wife.
IMO Amy wasn't included in the decisions. Matt would say wouldn't this be great and if Amy didn't get on board he went behind her back and manipulated everything to get what he wanted. Maybe she was being frugal or thought that what the kids needed was parents that loved and cared about each other. Not grandiose ideas and play places. The kids probably would have been happy with "1" of those playthings, but it was really more about making an attraction and the money. IMO he cheated Amy out of thT side of the farm then turned around and is selling it for a big profit. Matt didn't physically build that stuff he ran the machinery for the show. His employees did the work or contractors he hired.

None of the kids or Amy had to work a day job ever again. This, likely, includes the grandchildren, present and future. I'd say all wise choices have a cost. In this case, it was the love, respect and admiration Matt deserves from his (ex)wife & children. To him, it's the price to pay for their comfort, freedom & future. Only a man like Matt can & probably will ever SEE that. It matters not if anyone ever does but him. The decision may not have been in Amy's hands. A million times over, I doubt Matt would have it any other way. The machinery and the employees did not make those choices either. Matt did. He gets ALL the credit, AS WELL AS all the blame, heaped upon his head. He did what was best for all. It's proven & evident in the dozens of seasons of episodes recorded. All that needs to be done to see AND hear it, is to zip one's lips, watch & listen. It's not really a matter of opinion. It's comprehension of these facts hitting the logical brain uncorrupted by our own inner voice. Matt was genius in the fact that it's impossible to dispute when he not only gets the biggest chunk of that success, but no one in his family is worse for wear, but their contempt for him...and THAT is their own choice & doing, not HIS. Funny what miracles can happen when you listen to God. Not everyone will like you or give you credit, but those who do, will learn a valuable lesson about what is REALLY important. It's called NOAH'S ark for a reason. He was the one who heard God's voice, and he could only HOPE that those he loved would come along for the ride. Even Amy's new husband Chris, and Matt's girlfriend Caryn SEES this. I know I do, as well as MY kids. When Matt's kids get some years & wisdom under their belt, and they make smart decisions for THEIR kids, they too may see it. But SEEING it is not the important part. LIVING it IS. And they are. Hopefully a developer does not come in and destroy everything to build million dollar homes on it. Hope it does go to a young family and keep it going. I’m still so sad about the farm it breaks my heart for zac and his wife who truly wanted nothing more then to raise there kids in that farm I truly believe with Matt that nobody was good enough for this farm but him he’s allowed Karen to come in and run and rule the show which isn’t fair at all he built this farm for his kids and it’s truly sad that he didn’t give it to zac no matter the price and work with him knowing no matter what it stays in the family
They committed very few hours at the farm and showed no interest in doing the farm work required. I believe Matt would have handled things differently if Zach and Tory weren't so entitled.
I think Matt already had decided long ago that none of the kids would ever live on the farm by the choice of Matt not because he thought they wouldn’t keep the farm up. That was just an excuse.

All his big displays over Christmas, the time capsules, handprint marks, memories made forever, all the times he mentioned "for posterity" was all a big load of crap. When it came down to being honest it's not about family and grandkids anymore, it's about control and cash for him and Caryn. Thing is, how many years does he have to need so much money. For years it was always talk of who will take over his dreams of the farm, and legacy's, but it's really about money and control. My husband died All we ever looked forward too is leaving what we have to our children. I have watched this show from the beginning it sucks to see such memories that could be shared gone your selfish family first im ashamed of what you became kids family first
Yeah....I don't see value in it....for me the problem is paying for things not really needed and kids get bored of things so quickly.....also the super biggy for me is it will all wear and break down in weather after time ....then it's work fixing....and if not moving it and dumping......it's work envolved....and maybe costly to keep it in condition
Exactly… watch some new owners … make a dump out of it. Karma will hit him hard for not selling it at a reasonable price to his kids. It could’ve have stayed within the family. Jeremy is looking to buy his own farm .. bc he didn’t accept his offer … Zac moved far away to buy a house with some reasonable 2 acres so his kids can enjoy some land. He kept saying he wanted to pass it on to his kids but was too greedy and asked to much $ and wanted to control them. Now karma will hit him hard watch the new owners take everything down and do something new.
What if new owners just use the land to raise cattle and tons of farm animals. A chicken or pig farm. Watch them live somewhere else and use the land only to farm. Matt will get hit with nice smells on his side. That’s karma.
@@ragazzo3215 I am sure he has his reasons, but from the outside looking in it definitely seems like a selfish move. I don’t want to be too judgmental, but I do feel for the kids. It could’ve been such a wonderful thing that could’ve been passed on from generation to generation. I wish Amy would have been able to have kept the house and some of the land, I feel like the kids would’ve ended up with it that way.

But again who’s to say if Matt would sell some of his part to strangers. I just think he’s making a big mistake. The pumpkins are grown in the other part of the property he lives on. Pumpkin season will continue just differently .. if your unable to except change maybe seeking prof helps a good idea. The show used to be good before divorce and before he decided to cut his kids out of that farm and grandchildren, they put on a façade of making it seem like it was a family farm and there was always talk about kids and grand children enjoying it in the future what a joke. I don't understand why he didn't deed a portion of land to each of his four kids. Then they each could do what they wanted whether they wanted to build on their portion of land or not. It could be their choice what they wanted to do with it. He could have passed his legacy down to his kids & kept it in the family instead of selling to strangers.
