Saying the Haitian people are responsible for their country is like saying the US isn't powerful enough to alter another country. It's like saying Black people in the 1960's were responsible for their own poverty.
It's similar to British conservatives screaming at Indians "what are you doing in our country?" How about them screaming back "what the hell where you doing in OUR country for two centuries"?
What's concerning is that people are going to watch his movie thinking he's being satirical like Sacha Baron Cohen, but in reality, that's what he actually believes
The main point of the movie is hearing what DEI grifters believe, straight from horse's mouth, so to speak. MW doesn't offer any ground breaking insights or proselyte much.
We all know that the intent of Laura Loony wasn't merely to say that curry smells. Most people are not that daft, but Matt Walsh is obviously hopeful that some of us are. Just look at her history and you can read her intent. It was a racist attack meant to offend, straight from a culture with a history of judging the customs of "less civilized" people whom it was in the interests of the colonizers to dehumanize. Making fun of smelling like curry is an old, well-worn racist trope. She would have said much worse if social media didn't have rules around overtly racist language. If she was just trying to make a joke she would have at least made the effort to make it funny.
I am "mostly" with you, but you lost me at "Interests of the colonizers to dehumanize". Yes, you can draw that parallel, but it speaks negative volumes about your point of view.
Getting away from semantics, the real question should be "Regardless of whether you think it meets the definition of racist, do you think such behavior is still bad/harmful?" From what I've watched so far (just a few minutes) he would not say it is harmful, and I think that is enough to discredit anything else he'd have to say on the subject, given how he and his cronies reacted to 'white guy tacos.'
@@MDoorpsyif you hear a dude say he makes the plainest, most boring tacos, claim his spice tolerance is “black pepper”, and yet he created a recipe that won a spicy taco cooking contest, then that person is full of garbage, and given Tim Walz’s track record with lying about himself, I think it should be scrutinized. Why would he lie to make himself look more plain and uncultured than a mayonnaise sandwich on white bread? It points to a major character flaw: he panders. Btw, his recipe was nothing like what he described to Kamala.
@@MDoorpsyalso, isn’t it cultural appropriation to attach race to an ethnic dish? I thought ppl on the left said white people arent allowed to make things their own or experience the creations and culture of other ethnicities and nationalities?
No offense to Ryan Grimm but if Breaking Points really wants to press Walsh on his bigoted views, the show needs to bring someone on better versed on these issues. But then again I suspect Walsh wouldn't appear if faced with someone who can debunk him to his face.
I don't think he was crying racism, I think he was pointing out the double standard. If he said another color besides white, a certain portion of the online community would be crying racism
I'm 3 minutes in and he's basically saying "words can't be racist, people are racist". So nothing on paper counts as racism to him unless the person writing it admits they are racist, lol.
The left did that when they tried to say things like, “Black people can’t be racist because of power dynamics,” while not realizing how racist they actually sound when they say garbage like that.
@@caimaccoinnich9594 just looking for an explanation. People make stereotypical jokes all the time and it's not considered racist. So can you explain or nah
The sad thing is I agree with Matt’s initial definition of racism in the traditional sense. But he’s replacing the overly academic definition of racism with an overly simplistic definition. He is legit saying that if you don’t openly claim to be racist then you can’t be racist. Which most people don’t openly claim to be racist while doing the most racist shit like rounding up a lynch mob.
Man this dude spend like 20 mins of his show going on and on about the Tim Walz taco joke was vile anti white racism, but a curry joke isn’t racist? How does this even work?
I think you need to go listen to that segment again. He is pointing that it's going in the very common current thing of "it's ok to be racist against white" bag. He's pointing out that the reverse with any other race would never be uttered, so it should be denounced.
Just having negative stereotypes is racist. You don't have to "hate" me to be racist. Saying shit like "You're actually a smart, attractive blk woman" like it's a compliment is racist. I heard shit like that before.
Who's gonna confront Emily about nodding along to Megyn Kelly's claims that boys are getting surprise unwanted surgeries at school?! Get that person off your channel before Breaking Points loses all credibility by association.
@@luodeligesi7238 I can't even explain how misogynist and racist this is. Calling out a woman and PoC is hateful and can't believe I'm seeing it on a BP/CP video comments thread
The way Emily giggles at the stupidest s***t while contributing less than nothing to the segments makes you wonder what are the qualifications to be a political commentator as a conservative. Good stuff.
“I’m a huge fan of curry”. Give me a break. As a brown person who got make fun of “for smelling like curry” who now has teenagers who also hear that same racist crap, this is such bs.
Curry is good though. Not just Indian curry, mind you, I actually think that Thai curry is better (personal favorites are red and panang). Chicken tikka masale and butter chicken are some of the most famous dishes in the world, and in England and the US in particular, they are eaten voraciously. I personally love me some vindaloo.
The stranger thing is how folks come to believe that "curry" is one specific food eaten by one specific culture. Folks love to wallow in their own ignorance.
Yeah Matt, you dingus. Haitian people have little to no influence on the trajectory of their government. That’s like asking if Medieval peasants had any influence on the orders of the King.
Saying Matt Walsh shouldn’t be interviewed here is keeping people in their bubbles. Getting exposure to other perspectives is good for us. Ryan was great, so was Matt. I enjoyed this interview.
Being racist doesn't necessarily mean you hate the race you're being racist towards. There's a difference between being racist and being A racist. It can be an action or it can be a belief. Walsh strategically confuses the two.
You have to hate people of other races to be a racist. He hasn't done or said anything racist. lol and those race grifters in that movie deserve the ridicule.
So according to matt walsh, the only way we can tell if something or someone is racist is if they themselves identify as racist, But he complains abt "anti-white racism" all the time on his show
This could be the weirdest most disingenuous conversation on the topic I think I've ever heard. When you get to the point where the only way to identify a "racist" is for the racist to admit they are, words no longer have any meaning.
I honestly found it a good discussion, with genuine back-and-forth happening between Ryan and Matt on their disagreements on how policies are construed as racist. You can disagree with either side, but they had this talk about meaningful issues without getting upset, name-calling, or refusing to talk to one another. And that's what we need to see more of in media.
Been in the Atlanta area most of my life, school districts are not racist in Atlanta. They are separated by income levels. Yes, more people who are black go to public schools in Fulton/DeKalb counties, but everyone who can afford it regardless of race tries to put their kids in better schools than public schools. Also, the Black/African American population in Atlanta is higher than any other racial/ethnic group. Racism has nothing to do with the schools inequality here in 2024. Money does.
@@ga5518 It's not hard to see that the issue boils down in its essence to the fact that local property taxes fund public schools, ergo where you go to school is the primary determinant in how much money they have. Rich people, including white knights and equity crusaders, don't like the idea of "Robin Hood" tax schemes or federal funding for public schools, for the very simple reason that they don't want their schools to lose money relative to poor districts.
I think Ryan is one of the best debaters of our time. He is able to quietly study the person, learn their arguments, find the weak points and then with respect and logic point them out.
The "white people have generational wealth" thing is so absolutely bogus. SOOOOO many white people, myself included, JD Vance included, came from very poor families where we can't just ask mom or grandma for a loan and still made it work. I didn't get any special treatment for being white. And now that my last name is Hispanic since I married a Hispanic man, I have noticed ZEROOOOO difference in my ability to get a house loan or move into any neighborhood I want. It's easier for the rich, absolutely, race is immaterial!!
14:39 Matt Walsh uses the classic line “Nobody thinks America should be more like (Haiti)” and Ryan Grim rises at 15:02 to give Matt Walsh the spanking he deserves. Bravo Ryan.
@sideshowamit nah the original comment is right. I wish we slide back to the older days. When we didn't have to discuss with stupid people ideas that we can pick apart easily and not take seriously. But then again we use to see interviews of people with tinfoil hats. So idk
Three white people discuss what racism is or not. This is so stupid and ridiculous. This is the same thing as only men discussing women's issues. Breaking Points, do better. F-
"Slavery was horrible, everyone agrees on that point" "New Florida standards teach students that some Black people benefited from slavery because it taught useful skills" ... "DeSantis says Black people benefited from slavery by learning skills like 'being a blacksmith'"
Moving the goal post back....Curry in this joke is implied as an inferior food smell... This is old fashion racism not DEI woke just fell out of a coconut tree "racism"
Matt Walsh's neutral take on Laura Looner demonstrates willful ignorance or just being disingenuous. You don't "just ask" a provocateur like Looner "hey, do you hate Indians??", then take her word for it, and assume she's not trying to promote racial bigotry. Dumb.
I think there are still many people in America who design policy that use race as a barometer for class, but I also think a lot of that is coroborated by constant exposure to affirmative action. As a Canadian I'm always blown away when I see American job applications asking for racial information.
Saying "The dems are the real racist" is a lame move. - Matt Walsh The guy that cried racism because of a "white guy taco"joke but also claimed in this interview that thinking asians can't drive isn't racist.
He fumbled that Haiti question because he is used to right wing media where "Well its Haiti's fault" and "They need to take care of themselves" but he didnt expect somebody who knows Haitian history to push back like Ryan lolol. These people are so transparent.
Gonna disagree with the redefinition of racism by Walsh here. However, I'll posit that it has become all-to-common, for a multitude to, as Walsh does here, play fast and loose with any standardization of the word for the benefit of various agendas.
He had NO idea what he was talking about when he referenced Haiti. His assumption was that it was the people that failed...but it was the government...external government. He is TOTALLY ignorant, and his bias won't let his absorb facts. He is LITERALLY comparing the "freedoms" of the US with the intrusion of other governments on Haiti.
In part but it’s also difficult to bypass Western powers constant interventions on their affairs and generations of colonialism and resource exploitation and extraction. To this day the US still gotta be involved meddling in their governmental affairs. And despite what you think the DR has similar problems, however they are dealt with more leniently for whoring out resources to American corporations
I'm sorry, what's the comparison I'm meant to make here? Just that the Dominican Republic is better off than Haiti? How does that prove Haitians are responsible for their own misery? These are different countries with different histories. When was the last US backed coup against a democratically elected leader in the Domican Republic?
