Just as Simeon, after encountering Jesus, "took him up in his arms and blessed God" (Luke 2:28 ESV), we seek to lead others in a life of stewardship, relevant engagement, and practical living that honors and blesses the Lord.

@@judywetterman1314personally I think we should all be concerned about our health, men as well as women. @@mvj1153the redpill community doesn’t say that men should not marry. It says that the current state of marriage in western nations makes it a bad deal for men. They do say that marriage is ideal for both men, women and especially children. The word forbid in the kjv can also mean hinder which I think has been done more by western society and even modern Christianity by discouraging marriage in order to pursue education. Many of the divorces that those men use as examples are 40+ year marriages. Everything is wonderful until out of the blue the wife says she's not happy anymore and wants out. It happens to the best of them. To get a more accurate perspective on the problem you have to wait 'til the marriage has had time to be considered a 'success', but many marriages fail at any age, after any length of being happy. So at what point can you call your marriage a total success? If it's good for the first 45 years, it can still end in misery.

About Piers Brosnan's 60 year old wife: yeah, pregnancy can make it very hard to bounce back. But it's harder for women to lose weight and easier for us to put it on because of our hormones throughout our adult lives! She, being 60, has likely gone through menopause and that will make it very easy to gain weight and hard to lose it. Younger women, even who havent had kids, still have a monthly fluctation of hormones to contend with that make it harder for them than the men their own age to lose weight. And I'm saying this as someone who did have a baby and did manage to bounce back to her prebaby size so I am not just making excuses. You'd think the red pill group would be aware of all this and be able to accept that men and women are not biologically the same and yet somehow, they are oblivious.
@blahblahblah4544

It's because they are being selfish. Both feminists and redpill people are being selfish, not understanding and not empathetic. Their idea of love is "What makes ME feel good" not "What can I do to make my spouse feel good." So their battle will rage forever because it's greedy and won't end until they become loving and selfless.

The issue with her getting fat is with Pierce Bronsons millions she’s had house cleaners, chefs, babysitters/nanny’s etc. if she decided to go see a personal trainer she could afford the absolute best with a meal plan etc. even at her current age she could likely turn everything around in 6 months. And as for Pierce Brosnan’s wife, you can clearly see a man who is loving and respectful to his spouse when her faded looks do not faze him. @@ophanimangel3143 what does this have to do with Pierce Bronsons wife? If you and your mom have to work 40 hours a week. And pierce Bronsons wife had to work out 2 hours a day, she would still have 26 hours more per week than you or your mom. That’s just from the job. Keep in mind she does not need to cook or clean, they can afford help with that. So who knows how many extra hours that would be. So what is his wife’s excuse. As for your mom, really fitness is a lifestyle, your mom easily could have lost the weight, if she managed her food and prioritized some exercise. She would have been healthier, and happier too. Evidence for this is that she is still overweight, cause she never adopted a fitness lifestyle. She is likely 1 year away from her goal weight if she started her fitness journey today.

Finally, if you think even a healthy woman over 60 can turn her weight around in 6 months, you are showing your ignorance. Not without surgery (which has its own dangers.) Women her age should lose weight extremely slowly with no more than a 200 calorie deficit a day. It is very easy for women her age to ruin her metabolism and spike cortisol. I agree. Because in the Bible it says you have to be do-ers of the Word. And with the Holy Spirit you have way better chances at real love than with the world's ways. In fact I'd say the Holy Spirit is THE ONLY way to have a marriage. Not words. Not proclamation of faith. The real Holy Spirit that will heavily Chastise ya if you do your spouse wrong. That Holy Spirit who is the rod and comforter. The real one. Not this empty dogma religion stuff. The living Holy Spirit and doing the Word of God is the only way to marriage. And the Bible says if the unbelieving spouse leaves, let them. Gotta be equally yoked. One person can't carry two crosses.

yep, and the percentages for this happening inside Christian circles is almost the same as outside. I've grown up going to church, we've moved a lot so I've lived in a lot of different places and seen a lot of different people. I've seen so much horrendous devastation from divorces, and I've seen "godly women" turn into ruthless beasts as they exact an emotionally-fuelled campaign of revenge and wreckage. Sure there have been some really bitchy and nasty men, it's not all one-sided but I'd say roughly 70% of the time the women go full HAM and they nuke the hell out of everything, and take no accountability at the end of it. On average, I don't see the same degree of self-reflection in women as I do in men. And this is the same inside Christianity as well.

I think what's crazy most these people who says this have no problem having children together and playing house. Staying with a man or woman they don't want to get married because "They don't need a piece paper to proof their love." Yet most of the same men who feel this way would lose their mind if they don't give the child their last name. Will both fight to have their name on their apartment or house but lose their mind over being married. They don't really believe these things about marriage what they fear is true commitment. No different than the men and women who wants to sleep with someone but not be fully committed to them because they don't need a title to define them. People lack accountability and being committed so they fight against the things that are right to make themselves and others believe it's unnecessary or evil.
@orthotuber
@orthotuber 11 месяцев назад
They refuse to commit because then they lose all possibilities to "trade up", Jordan Peterson explained this very well in one of his lectures. Dennis Prager (who is not without his faults) pointed out to David Packman that couples who do this are actually dishonouring their children. Yeah we may have removed the stigma of being a "bastard" but it's still so much more embarrassing to refer to your parents as "boyfriend and girlfriend" instead of "husband and wife". I think she highlights how the system contributes to encouraging divorce. Having been married 15 years, my wife and I own our problems and we have watched a lot of seemingly perfect couples get divorced. I think the red pill point is you don't know if you are in the doomed marriage category and the system is set up to disadvantage men in the significantly high likelihood of divorce. Even 35% is an alarmingly high rate of divorce and for our circle I'd say more than half the marriages end in divorce. Developing charcter helps you better judge character and being willing to figure out what works for you as problem solvers rather than sticking to tradition or modern expectations in addition to prayer is all we say has helped us get this far.

You can read up on the statistics to see where your relationship falls. Looking at my husband and I, for example, we have an extremely low statistical chance for divorce because we score low on all risk factors. I've been married for 16 years now. The thing is the reason why marriage fails is not because a statistic its based on the relationship. If you are marrying someone outside of the fact that you love them your marrying for the wrong reasons. When you truly love someone you will take the time to work and over come things as a couple. In order for a marriage to be long term (forever) you have to make good decisions on the partner you are marrying.

I invest in and support my husband's dreams and career aspirations in many ways including financially, because I want him to be happy and believe in him. He is there for me in many ways. He is my partner in life. Her very transactional, black and white, negative way of portraying relationships to younger men is very toxic. @Frau_Zett 9 месяцев назад
I 100% agree with you, that transactional view is just awful. In a marriage you are in it together. I have seen a couple instances in my family alone where the transactional component of the relationship was completely erased, e.g. my uncle becoming physically disabled and having to give up his company, so my aunt had to pick up a second job and raise 4 kids mostly by herself because he was wheelchair bound. Of course that is not the outcome you wish for when you get married, but realistic people know that things can happen that may limit your partner's contribution to the relationship. It's your job as a couple to find a way to work through this, and if you both can't and decide the marriage is not salvagable, then so be it. I am a woman and her statement of saying "just because they've been together for 20 years doesn't mean they're happy, his wife packed on weight, so he's probably miserable." This infuriates me because by saying that statement she's claiming that all men are superficial and shallow. Yes, even though men are visual creatures, there are millions of men who marry their wives for more than their youth and beauty, men choose their wives because they love who they are, they're I love with their personalities, they are compatible, they love their wives based on her morals and character. I've met a married couple who's been married for over 44 years and they're still going strong. The husband loved his wife when she was thin, he loved her still when she gained over 60lbs, she still loves her till this day even after she lost 80% of her weight due to menopause. There are plenty of other men who loves their wives greatly. But for Pearl to assume a husband will lose his love for his wife just because she gained weight is very insulting to the male gender. I'm relieved I've met happily married couples who prove Pearl otherwise. ♥️

I’ve only been married 4 and a half years but I thank God every single day for him. All the odds were against me, I was a single mom. The only thing going was that I was young and attractive. But my husband honestly didn’t really care about that. He cared about my character. When we first met, we didn’t have didn’t have God in our lives, but we do now. He saved our relationship has blessed our marriage, and has blessed us with beautiful children. He and I are both so grateful to have each other. It’s such a shame how our society has come to this where people want others to fail at marriage or don’t want them to even think about getting married. Yes there are all these numbers and statistics, but just like what Mat said is that we make these choices as we are in charge of our own lives and how we live it. When it comes to marriage on itself, it’s not easy but both husband and wife must work together and go through all the trials and errors and still love each other. I’m married myself for 5 and a half years and things are still great. Sure we can get on each other’s nerves, but it’s never to come to where we want a divorce or actually want to leave each other. I heard from elders who are married for decades say that if ur not arguing from time to time then there’s something wrong and I agree. Not saying we don’t love each other, but we’re always going to have different opinions and that’s perfectly ok cus we’ll always come to a decision together or she’ll trust me as her husband to make the right call. One other thing people don’t bring up that helps with marriage or rather what’s needed in marriage is God himself. Of course us Christians say that and believe that, but those who aren’t or those who aren’t into the faith much wouldn’t say or believe that.

There is also nuance and conditions where marriages should be abandoned when the spouse is physically abusive and repetitively committing adultery without repentance. God hates divorce, but He also hates abuse, adultery, idolatry etc. People are selective on what they view God loves/hates. He also divorced Israel when they refused to come back to Him and be faithful. That's the truth. Some people will attempt to take advantage of God's love, but God knows and they will personally be held responsible for their actions.

The redpill guys don’t want marriage to fail and they’re not against marriage. They’re against the idea being perpetuated by Christian conservatives that marriage should be promoted to the general population. Most people who are getting married should not be. Because people get married out of infatuation with the idea of a committed relationship, a feeling of “duty”, or they get married out of love which is often just a fleeting feeling. Most people are not going to pick their lifelong soulmate, it is not likely. It’s not “doom and gloom” to say that, it’s just reality that we can see by observing human nature alone. And if most humans aren’t good at long term committed relationships, why would we advise people to bind themselves into a contract predicated on the longevity of committed relationships? It doesn’t make sense to me. It seems that only certain people should get married, a small percent. The rest should not

The better question for those considering marriage to ask: what do happily married people act like? How do they manage trials and conflicts? How do they think? It's not luck. It's work, friendship, sacrifice, and loving someone more than you love yourself -- and that is taught and modeled by Christ. We modeled and encouraged our kids to date people who shared their faith and values. Their chances for happy marriages rose significantly because of this.

Yea her opinion will completely change when a young man sweeps her off her feet and she’s convinced she has found the ONE true love of her life and that they’re meant to be yada yada yada. We all experience that sooner or later. IF we’re blessed. I found mine at 15 years old. We were married when I was 25 and he was killed when I was 35. He was 37. He was my one true love and the only regret I have is not getting married right out of high school! Younger! We were blessed with 20 years together. This woman can not say that 75% of marriages fail when all the studies seem to say it’s close to 50/50. Where is she getting her numbers? Also look at the rate of divorce 20, 40, 60 years ago, our modern beliefs are the reason for so many divorces. Not being unfaithful, or abuse. But because we are taught we should be all about our own happiness! If you live for self and your spouse lives for self why is anyone surprised that these marriages do not make it? You have to love them more than yourself. Their needs must come first and THEY put yours first! That’s how a marriage lasts.

And how men are nearly always required to foot the bill for both lawyers, loose all their assets and loose custody. THAT is the issue I see. So when one party walks away enriched and one broke and broken it is obviously not balanced or fair. And the system fails men and kids and families in that regard.

@@caribanna1865 Bingo! Marriage has never been "private between each lover" if there are no witnesses it's not valid. @OliverGrace7
@OliverGrace7 11 месяцев назад
I'm going have to disagree with you both since that's not Scriptural. Legal marriage is through the courts, Spiritual marriage is through God. When Adam & Eve became One they weren't in the presence of Family but of God. So in Christianity, when two individuals make vows, they’re committing before God. It’s a sacred bond that should stand firm on its own merits. Arguing that a community is necessary to keep a spiritual marriage together feels like a crutch. True commitment comes from within and between the two individuals. If you’re relying on a community to enforce or uphold your vows, then perhaps there were foundational issues from the start. While the Bible emphasizes the importance of witnesses in certain contexts, it doesn’t explicitly mandate the presence of human witnesses for a marriage to be valid. A spiritual marriage should be unshakeable in its foundation, with God as the primary witness, not contingent on the scrutiny or validation of others. “He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.’” -Matthew 19:4-6
