As a Michigan fan, I was so looking forward to rubbing this in, but after watching that game, I have way too much respect for the entire Alabama program and its fans. The humility shown by Saban and Milroe at the press conference was impressive. Keep your heads up guys, Alabama is always reloading. Think back to that Texas loss and then the close USF game and everybody wrote them off only to watch them come back and lose in the semis by one play/3 yards.
They mostly lose, just at high times. Most Bama titles came in the BCS system. We just get everybody's hate. Matt really described the fun and celebration going on for everyone else. It wasn't like this for my late dad. Lost fair and square so good job with the class, Wolverine. Best regards.
@@billdawson9253 well they acquitted themselves nicely. At first, I was one of the people arguing that Florida State got robbed, but Alabama put that to rest. I still don’t like how subjectively the playoff committee seems to make their decisions, but they got it right this time and I’m happy to admit I was wrong. I will definitely be cheering for Alabama as well in the coming seasons (just not if/when they play Michigan 🤣). God bless!

The fact that you think that the method they may have used to steal signs makes it cheating is laughable and shows how easily the media can manipulate your opinion. There is no competitive advantage offered by scouting in person or simply pulling your opponents signals off from the All-22 coaches film. Also, 99% of the “evidence” offered by the media was anonymous sources and supposed reports. If we learned anything during the Trump administration, it’s that our national media is not concerned with reporting facts, but rather in gaining clicks and selling stories. The bad snap of the opening drive of the second half really hurt and killed a great drive!I don’t think we were the best team in the country this year at any point so we had a successful season, got to continue to work hard and improve this offseason!
The bad snap on fourth and goal in OTat the 3 was pretty bad, too. And the other 34 during the regular season. Are there any centers who can snap a fooball in the portal?

I'm still shocked about the bad snaps. It killed us in the Texas and South FL gms, and was issued in others.. but there was 17-18 yesterday. There was a few sacks that were caused bc of bad snaps

I think it’s the month away from football. Both Michigan and Alabama looked terrible out there. There was a lot of mistakes on both teams offenses/special teams that game.
That's because styles make fights. Michigan was the better team but the coaching style didn't allow bama to play there "best" game. Michigan dominated the trenches and it wasn't even close. They were getting after Milroe especially in the first half unlike anything Bama had seen all year. Georgia could not contain him in the pocket while Michigan did a marvelous job outside a couple great QB runs. Alabama had to literally scheme the QB run plays because he couldn't get out the pocket.
@TH-li7lj yeah hopefully the expanded playoffs next year tightens up that layover. It has to be difficult for some guys once they slowdown for an extended period to be able to be 100% prepared and ready after that long break.
Man they have been inconsistent as hell all year. The Oline would have a good game, then a bad one. Milroe hit the whole field against LSU. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn the next game. Those bad snaps happened all season, every game. It was crazy. Honestly, Matt was right, we overachieved like a mother fkr.

It’s absolutely difficult to watch a replay when your team lost in a close game. I still haven’t watched 2018 SEC championships against Bama and also the one at the past few weeks. ( Dawg fan) so I can relate to your emotions.

Everything that was a concern for me cost us in this game and was greatly exposed 1.Bad snaps 2.playing to much man against motion heavy teams 3.Milroe inability to read defenses pre snap Ppl you have to understand the reason Michigan Dline was getting to JMill so fast was because he was not identifing the pressure he was not and has not been able to recognize that all year long that’s why he struggled mightily against.. Texas, Arkansas, Auburn, and Georgia yes Georgia he did not play very well that game but there were other factors that lead to that win.. Michigan had a long enough layoff to make Bama look like the Texas team and played sloppy and still won they should’ve beaten us by at 21 points
Michigan also dialed up stunts with combination of delayed blitzes if you can’t step up to throw in the pocket affects the deep pass which was what you had to take away from bama

Michigan fan here. I appreciate your content. Clearly, you are a fan of your team. But your takes are good overall. In the next game, Penix is a better QB than Milroe (at this stage). I’m interested in your takes on 2 things: (1) Are Washington’s receivers faster/better than the Bama receivers that Michigan held in check; and (2) How does Washington’s pass rush compare to Bama’s. On point 2, I thought Bama had some elite edges, but Michigan’s OL largely neutralized them. Proud of my guys. I know your pain as a fan. I look forward to more of your content.

As a Georgia fan, I hate Alabama and their fanbase and shed a tear of joy when they lost. Having said that, I always respected you Matt. You've always been fair and never trolled others. You're the only reason why I haven't completely gone to the Darkside when it comes to hating Bama. Part of me wishes BAMA would have won because them losing reflects poorly on the SEC. I feel like a healthy Georgia would have beat Michigan.
As I Michigan fan I was apprehensive about this game because Alabama has been the standard bearer for college football for a long time and has demonstrated an uncanny knack for finding a way to win, as recently displayed against Auburn. This game could have gone either way but despite the horrible special teams play from Michigan, Bama made mistakes of their own and Michigan prevailed in the end. I know Bama has had a very high standard but 12-2 is nothing to be ashamed of.
Great recap, and great humility in the loss. As a Michigan fan, I would have been sick had we blown that game, But if we would have, it'd have been our fault. Unlike the Lions loss to the Cowboys, which I'm still fuming about. NFL is rigged. Can't wait to see the championship with the two undefeateds!
I don't watch the NFL anymore. Was so turned off seeing multi-millionaire players disrespecting our National Anthem that I stopped watching. Have read several times that the NFL is rigged. Must be something to it. That's a way to destroy the NFL. They can't be stupid enough to not realize that.

The Bama center needed to work on his snaps.. never seen a clip of them working on that once.this was like watching the 2000 game. I’ve learned a lesson through my life as a Georgia fan. Got to look at the overall. Georgia didn’t win the natty this year, but you can’t win every year. We have a good team coming back. There is always haters and always challenges. A true fan would react the same way you did. You are a true ride or die fan.

I'm ngl Matt, when they announced the top 4 teams I was excited because a win versus Bama, was going to mean so much more than a win versus Tate Rodemaker. That game delivered and I genuinely felt bad that to advance, we had to end Bama's first "nobody believed in us" season in a long time. Could not have asked to share that Rose Bowl experience with a better fanbase and I thank Alabama for treating us all to the game of my life. No sarcasm, the hitting alone in that game rekindled my passion for football.
I said it all off-season, I said it at the beginning of the season, I said it in the middle and I said it after the SEC title game! Jalen Milroe sucks! He is a terrible quarterback and, Saban’s biggest flaw is his obligation to play the guy who has “waited his turn” and not playing the more talented qb. The only real opportunity Simpson got, was in a monsoon and, an Oline that blatantly allowed the defense to get to him almost every snap and, Simpson still moved the ball down the field. If Julian Sayins doesn’t rip the starting job away in the spring, next season will be as big a disaster as this year, and it was a disaster!

A lot of the sloppy play can be attributed to the fact that these guys sit for a month before playing these games. Look when most of the upsets happen; first game of a season and right after a bye. Honestly, Matt, I'm verrrry troubled by this loss. Very troubled. Think about where we are as a program right now. We're losing to Texas and Michigan for Chrissakes! Let that sink in: Texas. and. Michigan. That's who's beating us now. Not Tim Tebow's Florida teams or DeShaun Watson's Clemson teams or Joe Burrow's LSU teams. Not even wacky, once-in-a-blue-moon Kick Six black magic in Jordan Hare Stadium. No, Texas and Michigan are who's beating us now. We've got some serious problems to address. You can still be proud of this team if you want, Matt. I'm not. Nothing I witnessed yesterday leaves me swelling with pride as an Alabama fan. Our offensive line is utterly atrocious. Our QB is a frontrunner who's easily rattled and will crumble under pressure once he's been sacked a couple times. Our player development needs to be reevaluated because we're clearly not maximizing the talent we've recruited. I'm not gonna come on here and join in the choir of Alabama fans fellating this year's team for still winning the SEC after the way we started in September. I'm not gonna say this was a great coaching job by Nick Saban. Because, quite frankly, I don't believe any of that holds up to scrutiny. The only difference between Georgia losing to Alabama and Alabama losing to Michigan was the fact that, as a Georgia fan, I knew we lost the game halfway through the 4th quarter. I told my brother, "If Bama gets a touchdown here, we lose. Too many 1 in 1000 chance things have to happen for us to win."

what would even be better is if the line would have executed their blocks. Players make a oc look good when they execute the plays , coaches can do nothing about the poor performance of the line. Left tack has been the weak link all year and that is where michigan seem to overload the rush, He was confused the whole first half on pass blocking
Love your analysis of games. You pretty much nailed everything I was thinking about this game. I got nothing to add other than, good game. That was a thriller. Next week vs Washington? Expect a DIFFERENT UM team than this game. We had guys trying to do too much, trying to win the game on 1 play, too much cutesy plays that blew up... Part of it, was being nervous about playing Saban "with a month to prepare" and a plethora of 5-star players, and thinking we HAD TO do that. (Turns out we didn't.) Now we know: doing what we do, is enough. We will go back to being patient and playing simple, Harbaugh, smash-mouth football. Can't wait for the challenge of Penix and Co.! #goblue〽

coming from a michigan household, rooting for alabama was a bold move and it was fun moment to experience, sucks it resulted like that but i’m happy for both teams honestly (alabama showed that they can still compete wit 1 loss and michigan finally getting the recognition they deserve)

Hey Matt, people in Medellin Colombia know about UGA and BAMA. I was there with my Dawgs shirt on and had people from there ride by going go Dawgs. Was a big surprise to me. So don't think that we own college football. Everyone is watching this all over the world. I have seen Bama stickers and UGA stickers on the bikes and cars.
Honestly, the grass at the rose bowl is an absolute joke! Back to back years before last night, the Utah utes quarterback, Cam Rising, has gotten an cal tear in the rose bowl. That led him to be out all of this year and not 100% last year. During Alabama vs Michigan we constantly saw players slipping. For example: during a long third down, milroe ran about eight yards and then slipped so Alabama had to punt. During michigans second drive an Alabama linebacker was in man to man coverage vs a running back, he tripped so michigan converted a crucial third down. Finally, when Jj McCarthy got hit grass got stuck in his helmet (not supposed to happen)
