Just from what the owner said, he was never aggressive towards them, is an indication he had a home before. Just had a difficult time to trust again. I truly hope he wasn't abandoned.

@allison4970 is not the same! Seems like all shelter cats want me, haha. I'd probably go home with 10 cats. I would love to stumble across a cat like this. It'd make it 100000% more special :)

@jackiea4077 You have a better chance of the Cat Distribution Center "finding you" if you already have one or more... cats attract more cats in my experience. .. also opossums, raccoons, skunks, foxes etc ... IF you put food out. 🙃

I rescue senior cats when I adopt. The ones that are a lil broken to look at. Least likely to be adopted are the ones that speak to me. 💝

I cannot tell you how many cats have ended up on my doorstep. They have adopted me.I get so much pleasure in having a cat in my home. I like them better than people to be honest!

Myself, as well. They always treat me like angels! I think they feel great relief at being "fixed" and not being impelled to endlessly fulfill their evolutionary imperative (breeding).

That’s what I was thinking. Poor little angel was probably abandoned by his previous owners because he was getting old. I’m so glad they saved him and gave him the comfort and love he deserves, especially at his stage in life.

All cats deserve to be loved and cared for. I have 3 rescues at the current time, and have throughout my whole life. My door is always open to any cat in need.

I have nine! My neighborhood is crawling with ferals. I TNR whenever I can, but if there's any hope of socializing them, I try. The most recent little boy I've socialized is deaf... that was a real challenge! I can pick him up now, and he's more motivated by scritches and love than food. Every cat's life has value; every single one.

Yeah, cat’s won’t put up with abuse like dogs will. If they are not being cared for they will move into someone else’s home. It is also possible, of course, that he was abandoned. Whatever the reason for Otto showing up on their doorstep I’m glad it was their doorstep because now he will get the love and care he is entitled to.

He reminds me so much of my Lestat, it was the same way, this sweet orange kitty showed up in bad shape. He decided to stay with me and turned into a beautiful companion for the last 7 years of his life. RIP my sweet boy, he is so missed.

Poor baby he must have gone through it, he had no energy left, just needed to sleep in a safe place to heal,lots of food and cuddles ❤ So happy you took him in, a turning point for him 🐱

I had a cat exactly like this Otto I called her Whisper because she could barely meow. She & her buddy whom I also adopted called Capone were such amazing cats but it was only whisper who was the cuddle bug & if you were sick or not feeling well like after I break a couple ribs & my knee she wouldn't leave me for a minute even lol. Oddly she would lay on my stomach or my back even though it would often cause me pain she seemed to feel safe & where my pain was. She'd be so gentle though as she'd try to get as close to me as she could to keep me company. I miss Whisper & Capone greatly...

I 100% recommend it. Their purr releases chemicals in the brain that reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. And as long as you introduce them slowly, they get along surprisingly well with dogs. They have a way of bopping them on the nose until the dog learns to leave them be, lol. Male cats tend to be more affectionate and cuddly if that’s what you want. Female cats tend to be more standoffish and only want attention on their terms. Getting a bonded pair is a good idea too, it gives them a companion to keep them occupied, reducing any mischief they might otherwise get into out of boredom.

I feel certain Otto was a beloved pet and he lost his human. After that he was probably just kicked out to the street. He seems older too. Which would make survival hard as I doubt he hunted before. Many times when a cat stops grooming themselves it is because of depression, hopelessness or illness. His eyes have seen sorrow. I am extremely grateful he did not give up and found a hooman to give his love to. Thank you for caring about him.
