Despite the lackluster paint job with the Buck Rex, I still think it’s worth collecting due to the new sculpt. It’s tolerable for me, but they really should of done a better job with the paint by maybe delaying it a month of two to correct this issue. Mattel should salvage the Hammond Collection Buck Rex from its failed campaign and release it as a regular product, perhaps they could do a version 2.0 with the main line Buck Rex with better paint appliances. Give the 2022 Thrash’N Devour version the Buck paint and apply the re-sculpted pieces like the more bulky neck, and you would have a better version.
I think they did this on purpose. This set was announced before the crowd fund, which, a male rex catches everyone’s attention. But then they showed off a “better” version in the crowd fund male rex, probably trying to persuade people to support the crowd fund. But that obviously failed. So we’re left with this male rex. Like you said, embarrassing on Mattel’s end.
If you include this Buck Rex with the Extreme Damage T-Rex which looks the closest to Doe & one of the many Juvenile Rex figures, then you get the entire Rex Family.
@@damienbastings here’s the cool thing: the dead giveaway for me that has me convinced that the Extreme Damage Rex is Doe, are both the lighter brown colors and most importantly the slightly curved stripes on her cheeks.
I'm pretty disappointed they didn't use the Bull T-rex colors for the Buck Rex. It more or less resembles the growing Baby T-Rex from JPIII. Since the Crowdfund on the Gates with stretch goal of a Hammond Collection Bull T-Rex colors, we'll for sure, see it released on its own, for sure. I do appreciate the different head sculpts though. That all said, yeah the Mercedes Benz vehicle looks nice, but the paint is highly inaccurate. Which is sad, because they did so good on the Ford Jungle Explorers. Bahahaha! I can't unsee Kramer now! I can see it now, Jerry's stand up routine, "What's the deal with all the dinosaurs, on this island? You come to Jurassic Park as an investor, and when you take a tour, they just let the dinosaurs run around wild? I feel like I wouldn't be endorsing this park." Totally agree, as pull apart Eddie Car, with his toxin rifle, would have 100% perfect, if the paint jobs were don correctly on the vehicle and rex. Great review, as always bro! 👊😎🍻
Love the vehicle - everything else is lackluster at best. Were the buck larger/better paint and Eddie included instead of Ian- this would be a big winner. Thanks for the review!
The buck rex is such an embarrassment. Mattel doesn't usually do the most amazing paint on figures . They always stop before the tail and they never paint the claws . We've Gotten used to it to a point that we expect it. It blows my mind that this Dinosaur (which is one of the most popular of the series) has such lackluster paint apps. It's like they didn't even try. This Rex makes me feel like Mattel's genuinely mad at us.
Looks like I'm gonna give this a miss. I haven't got a Bull Rex yet in the Legacy line so really want this tbh. Only buying it for him and not Ian/ Merc as his face doesn't appear to be that close to Jeff's. Also, the Benz looks too plastic and cheap to me. Wish they'd make a Spinosaurus vs plane set at some point so we can get an improved Spino, Billy, the Kirbys and maybe even Udeski.
I like this better than the rex pack that comes with the bull or buck and the baby T. rex, I feel like the legacy collection was very cheap but this t tex looks better
This set looks incredibly frustrating. TLW is underrated, this is set sounds cool on paper and the Mercedes looks fantastic...but the paint app on the Rex is just unacceptable. And I just *know* Toys R Us are going to be asking $90 or so for it, just like the Rex Breakout set.
Even though this set is cool but the buck paint lack luster like Mattel just stop being cheap keep going it would sold much more I love the new head sculpt and the vehicle and lost world Jurassic Park Jeff Goldblum just like with the Velociraptor from legacy collection with the cage it's no right it looks more like a Tiger Velociraptor not a JP Velociraptor because the is just brown not orange with black like stripes I do love the Glowing eyes I hope you repaint the buck rex to make it more better with toe nail paint hand nails painted more paint on the back to the tail and more light color for the stomach Atlest the 2019 legacy t rex pack that buck T Rex has more paint applications and yeah so Mattel stop being cheap and keep going to make it better pls paint the nail and the back the tail and the stomach just stop we mean it
The jaw on this one is way better, and not just for the males. But yeah this looks not only unpainted but just... cheap, like a giant cereal box toy. And the eyes are grotesquely puffy haha like Squidward "Even my bags have bags!"
Mattel, what you have done?!!! So crazy! This vehicle is the star of the show for this video than Buck the male T-Rex, so disappointed! Mattel do resculpt on this figure as Buck the male T-Rex is good, i so appreciate it, however for paint job on this figure is completely look like unfinish at all, so Dino-terrible 😞! I care about Dinosaur more than human figure, to be honest. This figure does look like the Basic type figure, so limited paint job, so disappointed. Hammond Collection Buck the male T-Rex was superior version of Buck the male T-Rex (not just attempt the sculpt, but also attempt the paint job 🎨 🖌️ more nicer than this figure), unfortunately Hammond Collection Buck the male T-Rex is part of crowdfund, too expensive for everyone, especially for me to pick up, so terrible decision 😔. Unfair Mattel, why this type of figure cannot get lots of paint?! I so disappointed! I also biggest fan of Buck the male T-Rex 🦖 from The Lost World Jurassic Park, this figure does made me a heart broken 💔 attempt the paint job. So disappointed. But still want to pick up this set. I will try my best to track down this set despite this set is about 50/50. Maybe i should wait you do reviewing Buck the male T-Rex model from Dino Dream, Andy. That's more nicer than THIS SET from Mattel 🌷🤗.
I hate that it's packed with the malcolm and the car. I think both of those were done better than the rex and if i could id rather have the car and Ian without that awful rex.
Looks like a set really lacking in detail, from the very blunt and too-thick T-Rex teeth, to the fact the rear doors on the Merc don't open and the other lack of detail on the vehicle. Generally this looks very low-effort. And why is T-Rex lower jaw totally cream-coloured?! It looks absurd. They'll never make anything as good as the old Kenner Rex.
