This Skeletor was based on concept art. See Demoman for the MOTUC take on it(for the figure only, the backstory used there was for Classics packaging). Neither facial hair nor scimitar are New Eternia additions. If they leaned into some of the Skeletor early designs any more, the alternate traditional option wouldn't have been an option. It is unlikely that they different displays were because most people would just use the alternate heads & remove the armor ; if that were the case the packaging display would probably be reversed. It is more likely an attempt at multiple display options. In this case, trying to do both lead to some positives as well as negatives: for Skeletor the loose top armor but two strong head sculpts, for He-Man an non-helmeted head that is technically accurate to the helmeted head, but doesn't work on the body. & FYI, He-man's shoulder pads do come off. It appears to be a running thing in the New Eternia line.
I like how New Eternia is looking, it’s good to see Mattel experimenting with imagination and concept bombing the toy line in ways they haven’t really done since New Adventures. I see this guy as sort of a “what if Skeletor won and became a warlord” type of thing and I can appreciate the idea! As a side question, are the revelation/NE staff heads interchangeable?
@@harveyawesome and the body is compatible with Origins. My NE Skeletor is now Keldor. I got the Keldor/Cronis pack from Target. Try Origins He-man head on Revelation He-man body. You'll love the results.
There IS a way to keep the cape in place. Keep him MOC, haha. (Though, I admit, I would totally do what you did if I took him out of the package, Spot.)

I picked up this Skeletor for the classic look, but after having him in hand and seeing the new head and having that nice soft goods cape on him, I'm displaying him as the New Eterna version, I love that look!
They say when we die our hair still keeps growing. Maybe that's what's going on with Skeletor. I'm definitely going to pick this one up! Skeletor has one of the greatest super villain voices ever!
Definitely going to display him as retro Skeletor. He just looks so good that way and I too was left wanting with the Revelations. Never collected any Masters of the universe before, so I’m really enjoying having 6 inch versions of these classic characters on my shelf. I hope to get all the classic-looking Masterverse figures. She-ra and Hordak are really cool but this new Skeletor is my favorite from the line so far. And Scareglow lol
I just swapped Armor with Revelation Skeletor this one is more detailed and it is awesome. So Have the purple cape with Viking He Man. And the Helmet Head and Black Cape covering Revelations Armor. The Darker Purple looks so much better on the Darker Skeletor.
The only difference is I like the Cape so I would display him with that on apart from that mostly the classic look can't wait to get mine next week here in the UK
Huh, I actually love this NE Skeletor, goatee and all. He's my second favorite Masterverse figure after Revelation King Grayskull. I put the regular head on the Revelation Skeletor body, so that's my "traditional" Skeletor in my display.
The sword will slide into its back slot nicely if you put the cape on 1st. Then just lift slightly to set it in. Saw another reviewer do that. Great vid though
The torso seems to be the same but sits higher, so he looks better proportioned because of it. The additional accessories are nice for some storytelling reasons, like some photography, some story of older Skeletor. Still without it he looks amazing as the classic look
You are on point about how to display this figure and that sword 👏 so many idiots making review videos gushing about that stupid barbarian head when the “basic” head is phenomenal. Hate that sword but I’ll toss it and have him with that crazy staff 👍
I still haven't picked up this Skeletor yet, but when I do get it I think I'll display it the way you did at the end, which is Skeletor without the extra armor and the head without the helmet. I think he will go great with the 40th Anniversary He-Man when that comes in.
This Skeletor figure is awesome as eff... minus the cape armor piece being loose, because it's a rad character design and the beard I feel is a nod to Demo-Man and Keldor merging together to create Skeletor.
I think the skull is a Separate part because it's the one that came with the 40th anniversary skeletor And he man. And the skull on that staff was dye cast.
(Some advice about the ''Armor Plate-Cape'' piece, and the Sword) With the new armor piece, On the under side of the new armor are small notches sticking out that will line up with the spaces between the straps of the ''Shoulder armor flaps'' of the original style armor underneath, And that will help hold the new armor in place, on top of the original armor, Also with the new armor still in place, You can push the sword down his back (Right at the center of his neck) Between the cape and his back, so the sword goes under the cape into the holster, above the armor, But still under the cape with only the handle visible, Give it a try ? The New Eternia Skeletor looks fantastic as-is. For my collection, the retro head has replaced the god-awful original Masterverse Skeletor head. I don't see why anyone would keep that one on the shelf.
Why I bought this skellator 4 that classic look 100% but the other head is very cool and the chest armor I do want to use them for a custom at some point
Haha, yeah, as you've already been told by others, He-Man's shoulder armor is removable and definitely gives off the more "classic" look. I personally think these figures look great. I probably wouldn't have picked them up if they didn't include the alternate heads/look.
Actually answers to your questions about beard are in bio of Demo-man who is essentially responsible for keeping Keldor=Skeletor alive after the acid accident.
His chin hair grows by the power of the mystical havoc energy! Muahahahaha. Good review and great figure. I love it. I will figure out a way to attach the armor.
The beard makes as much sense as the his magic skinless, muscle-less, eyeless face... Whatever magic that keeps him alive apparently grow hair on the chin only 🤣 I think the reason they did it was as an homage to Skeletor creator the late Mark Taylor.
This New Eternia skeletor is not so realistic mainly the skull! Its some kiddy figure! REVELATION SKELETOR IS EXCELLENT WITH DETAILS, STRUCTURE AND LOOKS! I HAVE COLLECTED REV SKELETOR ! I AM SEARCHING OF THE PANTHOR OF REVELATION SERIES MATCHING TO THE REV SKELETOR

For me Id go with the Skeletor, the Marvel characters change so frequently in the movies that years from now I don't think Fat Thor will be as cool as having just a really nice Skeletor displayed on your shelf, just my opinion though
