That view of the ancient city in the background at the end of the match...spectacular! Spectacular is also the word I'd choose to describe the Musetti drive backhand - what a shot! Some of the returns from that wing in the deuce court in the second set were unbelievable - it must have been dis-spiriting for Berrettini to watch those balls go right by him and paint the sideline. A good match between the two young Italian champions. I'm always amazed at how global the sport of tennis is, and how long a season it demands of its players; not two months ago, Lorenzo literally walked right by me within arm's reach during his first-round match vs. David Goffin, as they both took a "cool-down" break. That match was hotly contested, with Lorenzo winning a tight tiebreaker late in the fifth set. Yet here he is, just a few weeks later and a continent away, winning his second career title on TV/RU-vid...very cool!

Let's go Musetti ⭐ hope he can continue to rise and start to be a contender for bigger titles!

I think Musetti’s movement is very underrated. Movement is one of the most underlooked aspects of the game. That alone will make you very tough to beat. Now if u add shotmaking, power, and mental strength, you’re looking at a top 5 player at least. Go look at alcaraz, the big 3, etc. If musetti continues to improve, you never know. No one thought medvedev would be number 1 or win a slam. Musetti has also gotten very good wins, along with giving Novak a scare at last years French.

At some point Berrettini said to his box: ”Ha più voglia di vincere di me” which means “He wants to win this more than I do”… All of these injuries this year must have been so tough for him mentally… hope next year will be easier for him ❤

Three errors. Three! Three errors in a home country final against a very game berretini. Berretini was hobled a bit going in. But mussetti here just played brilliantly. Very few misses at all, and he wasn't exactly pulling his punches. What a good kid too. Hopefully this week cleared out a bit of the nervousness that has plagued him the past few big matches. Tsitsipas at RG comes to mind. Edit: Just wanted to point out what a beautiful tournament this was. The fans were amazing. The atmosphere was iconic. And the play was exceptional. I was lucky enough to watch both semifinals yesterday and the final today live. I wish I was there. Looked like such a great time. Italian tennis is looking great.

As an Italian it was a great spot for our tennis. Two friends who fought, too bad for Berrettini's foot, it probably would have ended in 3 sets. Anyway to those who are surprised by Musetti strong on the hard court, Musetti won and made the final at the US Open and Australian Open juniors .. Now that he is trying to command the game and enter more inside the field, together with a clear growth and mental stability ( as well as a real desire to win) will be bad times for everyone. He can beat everyone already in 2023, ready for the top5 imho

Musetti has the strong points Shapovalov and Tsitsipas have, but without their weak points: he's much more solid than Shapovalov during the exchange (3 or 4 unforced errors on this match) and he's much more rapid than Tsitsipas to execute his shots. I think he will be top 5 the next year, and win majors in his career. Anyway, I hope so. He's game is beautiful.

Out of all the next gen, Musetti, for me, has the game to do great things, and is very Federer like. His only slight weakness is mental strength, which on occasion, goes on holiday. Although of late, this area of his game is much improved and you could see that his game plan was to completely nullify Beritinni's forehand, by targeting his weaker backhand.

Musetti's game has improved immensely. His footwork is fantastic and that serve (especially the first serve) is a weapon now. His mental game has a big part of it as well. Less shrugging of the shoulders nowadays. Great win for him.

Ton of controversy surrounding this tournament, with the surface initially, then not being able to play past 8pm due to the court getting slippery due to dew points and being in the vicinity of a large body of water, but they got it done and ended with an all Italian final. Well done to Lorenzo.

Musetti is great at best-of-3 sets but the longer you can keep him on the court the better your chances mostly at Slams!
