Words are totally lacking when it comes to describing my appreciation of Matteo's brilliance. May he live long and burn with the light of a thousand stars. 🙏
classical players have the hardest time to understand improv because they aren't taught how to improvise at all. That's something you have to do on your own or through a separate teacher. You could argue experience, but dude is only 26, what experience would he have because a lot of self-study or teacher(s)? @@ScaleScarborough-jq8zx
When I first heard Matteo I was simply stunned at how great of a guitarist he was. His style of guitar encompasses so many styles and yet it is so unlike anything we have heard or seen before. Someone like Matteo who has such skills and knowledge and breathtaking technique only comes along maybe once in a lifetime. I'm 70 and have spent nearly my whole life in music playing guitar and being able to see and listen to so many other wonderful musicians and never have I been so taken with the incredible ability on so many levels that this young man has. He is truly one of a kind and I hope he a has a long and happy life and career.
@@user-us2xt4sg8k I was born in 1952 and I agree. But lately I have been listening to other guitarists who deserve mention also. Josh Meader, Ben Eunson and Max Ostro mostly. Others exist as well. What a glorious time to live if you love fusion guitar playing.
As an "old" guitarist at 75, I am totally blown away at Matteo Mancuso genius level of guitar playing, by far the best now and I have heard many of the greatest live, Frank Gambale, Al DiMeola, Larry Carlton, John McLaughlin, Eric Johnson, Guthrie Govan and many more...
i can't bring myself to lie to myself and say that he's better than Guthrie Govan. No one is better that Guthrie but he is a closest to Guthrie i've ever heard
@@JinkProject yeah but Guthrie is double his age. I'd be interested to hear Guthrie when he was Mateo's age, and God knows how much of a face melter Matteo will be in 30 years time
You can hear Guthrie play at this same age. That’s the age when he wrote a lot of the material from "Erotic Cakes" (early 1990s) and it was released at that time. Guthrie was better compositionally at that age than Mancuso, though Mancuso is technically better. The Guthrie from that age was sloppier and more of a hard rock player. What they seem to have in common is that neither is great compositionally.
My thoughts were on the same track. Hellborg has a pretty good resume'. The improvisation that he did with Lane and Sipe, though is something unique. Mancuso is obviously a generational artist. One might wonder what might happen if he could hang out with Hellborg for awhile - that could be interesting.
Maybe also with Allan Holdsworth in "Hard hat area"? To me his (Jonas) best solo, together with Allan's one (arriving from the Space). A masterpiece. By both. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wIoahfMZRZE.html
Mancuso is a generation leader. You don't get too many guitarists like him. He's already legendary in my book. His playing is unlike anything we've seen before.
I stick with if music can’t be hummed it’s just for music majors. Music should be enjoyable for everyone. Sure music majors can make music for each other and wank away 1000 notes per second together. Niche music is great. Skill doesn’t equal listenability. This is a good example of that. If a guitar player is bored imagine what the Lindas in the crowd are thinking. Poor Lindas 😂
@@szilardsarkany6236 Not really, I mean Matteo is a fantastic player. But why not leave the chops behind for a minute and try to play some melody lines in a solo once for a while?
I totally agree. He is a generation leader (to us now) or will become one later. I just want to add that Guthrie Govan, if put in addition to Matteo next to Hellborg, would play as skilled but probably would insert some more unexpected licks, chords, melody lines. But Guthrie has had a couple of more years of playing and experimenting. Matteo will be able to do this with time and experience. His right hand finger picking technique is sure to make it in to the future of guitar playing techniques that has been dominated by the pick or hybrid picking techniques over the past decades
@@MrThecamillone800 if anyone can dare be compared to the GOAT, Shawn Lane, it's Matteo. Like Shawn, he's a generational talent, and at a time when there are many, many stellar players in their prime.
I’m guessing you never saw Eddie Van Halen perform live or on video. He was fairly impressive. Maybe you need to be a young buck when one of the “once every decade” wizards I’ve been fortunate to experience. Come on …McLaughlin? Where is he in your continuum. Let me ask all of you. Who is Ted Greene? Have you ever watched him improvise for 45 minutes and have it never cease to surprise and make you mumble things you’ve never knew you had to express before. Ted Greene author of “CHORD CHEMISTRY “. A must have study guide for harmony studies.
Man what a collaboration! I'm a massive fan Shawn Lane and to see his longtime friend and colleague Jonas Hellborg playing with another one of my favorite guitarists Matteo Mancuso is absolutely insane!
For sure if I was italian I'd be very proud. hell I'm proud of him just because I'm a veteran player but seriously Matteo will be like the Italian Paco de Lucia. Just unbelievable. VIVA MATTEO Y EL CAFE LAVAZZA!!! 🙂
Superb, simply superb! Matteo is the new star on the guitar scene for good reason. I hope he'll be delighting us for decades to come. Jonas is already famous and has played with the very best of the best. What a great pairing!
2:51- I've recently been enjoying improvising over Cantaloupe Island myself and loving the change to Db7 in particular (I play Db Lydian dominant over it, mostly). Here I am being very proud of myself and then I hear Matteo just knock it out of the park on so many levels. Incredible musician.
Regarding Matteo, his special finger technique, his musicality are just absolutely mindblowing! I had never witnessed something like that before and I'm totally flabbergasted. We are the witnesses of a real and unfathomable prodigy! 🎸❤❤❤
I mean - c'mon. I'm a bassplayer. Always loved Jonas Hellborg. But Matteo Mancuso....OMFG he doesn't play a single wrong note and they are all so clear.....The dude's a monster
I think you just summarized part of the reason Matteo's music is -- to me -- extremely boring. Outside from wanting to hear his technique in action, I can't imagine wanting to listen to a Hellborg recording with Matteo on lead guitar. Just so dry and emotionless.
Although it looks like a very different model, his guitar seems to have the same feature as Guthrie Govan's guitar - no bad notes anywhere on the neck. I gotta get me one of those.
I was there too and it was one of the best gigs I been to. Comparable to holdsworth, and I don't say that lightly. Would have loved to see him with Jonas, one of the few guys that could possibly play a Shawn Lane tune properly.
What a treat having these two jam together! Matteo is a modern marvel. Jonas was the right-hand man for Shawn Lane (i.e. most terrifying guitarist who has ever lived) and seeing him with a new generation of virtuoso is a beautiful thing. 👍
Oh my goodness…. What just happened Im 6 minutes in and blown away by Matteo, some of the best jazzy-ness I’ve heard .. reminds me of Govan but matteo has his own style.. Love it
Stunning! And Matteo Mancuso has decades ahead of him! Jonas Hellborg is superb. Two of the best musicians on the planet. Love Mancuso's Yamaha Revstar.
I discovered Hellborg when I bought Elegant Punk in 1984. I was totally blown away and I've been a fan every since then. I still have my original vinyl LP!
Coordination between left and right fingers are unbelievable, fluidity and versatility are at the highest level, he is now a pioneer to influence newer and younger generation to follow while the older ones who are lucky to be alive and cherish it.
Какой кайф... Отдохновение в струнных мыслях! Чистота и прозрачность. Вдохи и выдохи кристалльно чисты. Идеальный дуэт. Никто им больше не нужен. Прелестно!
Great to see Matteo playing with the legends that played with the legends: Jonas with Mahavishnu 84 & John Mclaughlin and previously he played with Al di Meola (from Johns Guitar Trio)
That was totally unexpected but highly welcomed! I love Jonas since the 80s and Matteo is an utter brilliant musician too. Nardis was so beautiful!!! Thanx for sharing.
I hope to see alot more from theses two together. Jonas helborg and Shawn lane are my favorite duo of all time. Matius is one of few that's worthy of taking Shawn's place.
Was bummimg most of this year about my all time favorite guitarist Jeff Beck passing away. Discovered Matteo Mancuso about a month ago. Dude has me smiling again. His playing is stellar & incendiary. Maybe the GOAT...
