Very nice! I'm a retired aerospace engineer, and I've built three PVC/wood backyard roller coasters of my own, and written two ebooks on the subject, so I know how difficult this is to do. I would suggest maybe testing it with 150% of the maximum expected rider weight, using sand bags, then inspect for any cracks or yielding of metal, if you really want to be safe. But great job with the track design, rail rolling and welding. I hope you show more details of the cart design. How much did it cost, if you don't mind my asking? Also, how many labor hours?
@Magictecture
@Magictecture 3 года назад
Thank you so much for the compliment! We are huge fans of yours. We actually watched several of your videos while building ours and the 150% weight test was our matra. The first track layout followed a PVC model similar to yours, but we switched it out for metal to increase rider weight capacity. I didn’t track the labor hours, but we worked on it every day for about 4 months. About 30 people on total helped with the mountain. The stucco took the longest time and cost the most. We’re going to do some behind the scenes videos in the future and would love any feedback. Thank you again!

@ColoradoAnimatronics
@ColoradoAnimatronics 3 года назад
Ok, let me just start out by saying this is amazing. The track work (did you use a pipe roller for that?), the mountain, the theming and the animatronics are all very well done. Now for the obligatory question: is there any forces (airtime, weightlessness)? You should get the ride forces app and tell us what the highest + and - g's are. This is the best backyard coaster yet, no doubt. I would also like to see more detailed videos, especially the car. Once again yall did such an amazing job on this!
@Magictecture
@Magictecture 3 года назад
Thank you so much for the compliments and suggestions! We are planning on doing a behind the scenes video in the upcoming months to show how we built the mountain, kart and track. And yes, we used a pipe roller with 1 1/2” pipe. I’ll take your advice on the ride forces app and upload that as well! There are two pretty intense spots on the ride, the first being the dip into the tunnel and the second being the dip under the bridge. It will be interesting to see what the app reads! Thanks again for the suggestions!

@Magictecture
@Magictecture 3 года назад
Right, great question! So if you look at frame 1:04 on the right hand side of the screen to the right of the bridge, you can see the kart, that’s essentially where it stops via “gravity”. If you fast forward to 1:13, you’ll see where the track goes into the lift hill tunnel. The track is a closed loop, but it does require someone to grab the kart from the spot on 1:04 and push to the bridge. We put this “low spot” so that with multiple karts, we wouldn’t have collisions.

I'm a little worried that Disney lawyers are going to come after you if you don't have their permission on your channel name and logo. I'm sure your video is going to end up with millions of views, and you don't want your channel cancelled by RU-vid due to copyright infringement You might want to change the name and logo now to avoid the potential mess. Your work stands alone from Disney anyway. I'm sure Walt Disney would be smiling down on you. FYI - you might consider submitting this video to Jukin or some other online video company. I did it, and Scott Brazelton did, and it turned out very well for us, helped pay back our expenses very nicely. Contact me on my channel info and I'll tell you the details. Jukin certainly helped our videos go viral a lot quicker. RU-vid thieves (people will copy your video and publish all or part of it as their own) don't like coompanies like Jukin, because they come after them.

How I would do it is you could cover it in a tarp and poke holes in it to make the stars, which could also serve as a clever way of making ventilation. Only problem would be it’s not rain proof, but that’s okay. And if you wanted to it could start outdoors and the tunnel could be a transition.
