Matterhorn Helicopter Taxi - Air Zermatt Heli Skiing Switzerland 

It was a bucket list item to ski in the Swiss Alps. Chris and I spend two days trying to ski every run in Zermatt Switzerland. We start our day with a Helicopter ride up to little Matterhorn where we land in Italy. To our left we can ski down into the huge ski resort of Breuil Cervinia. To our right is Switzerland and the resorts Sunnegga, Rothorn, and Gornergrat. The last one uses a cog railway to run trains up to 10,300'. They have every different kind of lift device in operation here. 53 lifts connected. It is also possible to take a sequence of 5 chair lifts from the village and end up at the ridge that we heli dropped on. But we passed every line up with the helicopter trick and we got a very nice view of the Matterhorn. On our way to Italy we dropped a skier and guide to the west of the village that were doing a private backcountry tour. Our Air Zermatt pilot was very skilled. It was a good day.
FYI - this is a collection of ski operations but one can buy a ticket valid on all of them and then tour anywhere you want. You have to have a valid day ticket if you want to do the heli drop. Their day ticket price is 65% of a Whistler Blackcomb mountain day ski ticket. Hmmmm...
