I'm so excited to study the New Testament! This episode I enjoyed listening through it, then going through the transcript and writing points I liked in the margins of my journal edition of the New Testament, then using another color pen for my own insights and impressions

Regarding the verb "to wax" that was brought up. It reminds me of the German word "wachsen", to grow. Thank you for all of your insights.

What and amazing start, with Gaye, for 2023! I am super excited for the New Testament. I was one of those skeptical readers at the beginning of the Old Testament last year but I stuck with it through the entire year and I loved it! I learned so much, and now I am anxious to see how this year will broaden my knowledge of the scriptures. Thank you for doing these podcasts. They help many more people than you hear from but I talk with people all the time and just common scripture readers are understanding more and Hearing Him because of you both!

This was excellent. This opened my eyes more to the beginning of the New Testament. There was so much that was covered that made me think of the faith and the feelings of Mary and Joseph. It made me think of how hard it had to be for them and the faith that they had. Sister Strathearn is a very spiritual person and I love the experiences that she told about. You have made this very interesting and spiritual. Many insights have come out of it. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. You have excellent quests and I also enjoyed the remarks that you have added. I loved this a lot.

I have been reading “Aaronic Priesthood Through the Centuries” by Lee A. Palmer. It was used as the book of instruction for Priesthood quorums when my husband was young. It was under the direction of the assistants to the 12 and the Quorum of the 12. He said John the Baptist had to be ordained by an angel because he was a prophet and prophets held the higher priesthood and that his mission required the higher priesthood. His father did not hold that priesthood and the office of high priest had been so polluted that only an angel sent by the Father could do the job. This book is highly authoritative and educational and easy to read and understand.

A few years ago while serving in the nursery at church I caught ac virus off one of the nursery children and it went to my vocal chords and I was struck dumb. It lasted for six months. I had to have speech therapy to get my voice back... When better, I went back into nursery and the same thing happened again. So I was released from many years of serving in nursery and was called for the first time as a seminary teacher! I think what what I learnt was 1st people treat mute people as stupid and second and most importantly, that when my mouth works my ears stop working 😏. Zacheus disbelieved (understandable) but Mary wondered How the impossible was possible and received confirmation that with God nothing is impossible both were amazing and humbling lessons.

Yam, also known as Ym and Yaw (YHW), is the Ugaritic god of rivers and the sea. Also known as Judge Nahar ("Judge River"), he is also one of the Elohim or sons of El, the name given to the Levantine pantheon. Others dispute the existence of the alternative names, claiming it is a mistranslation of a damaged tablet. Despite linguistic overlap, theologically this god is not a part of the later sub regional monotheistic theology, but rather is part of a broader Levantine polytheism. He is also known from Egyptian sources, which present him as an enemy of Set (at the time viewed as a heroic slayer of monsters and similar to Levantine and Anatolian weather gods). Yam is the deity of primordial chaos and represents the power of the sea, untamed and raging; he is seen as ruling storms and the disasters they wreak. The seven-headed dragon Lotan is associated closely with him and the serpent is frequently used to describe him. Despite his antagonistic role in myths, Ym was sometimes invoked in theophoric names, indicating some degree of cult, which sets him apart from another similar figure, Tiamat. As Ym's myth is generally believed to be older than the Enuma Elish, it's possible Tiamat was partially patterned after him. Of all the gods, despite being the champion of El, Ym holds special hostility against Baal Hadad, son of Dagon (or El). Ym is a deity of the sea and his palace is in the abyss associated with the depths, or Biblical tehwom, of the oceans. (This is not to be confused with the abode of Mot, the ruler of the netherworld.) In Ugaritic texts, Ym's special enemy Hadad is also known as the "king of heaven" and the "first born son" of El, whom ancient Greeks identified with their god Cronus, just as Baal was identified with Zeus, Yam with Poseidon and Mot with Hades. While Baal Hadad was the lead god in Ugarit, in the Baal cycle it is Ym who is favored by El, and he even briefly rules over the other gods. Baal only rises to power after vanquishing him with the help of his allies Kothar-wa-Khasis, Astarte and Anat. Yam's ultimate fate is unclear, as the text makes references to both death and captivity, and in later sections of the myth Baal talks about Yam as if he was still alive and a possible threat. While in the past researchers, especially those belonging to the myth-ritual tradition, interpreted the myths of Baal, Ym and Mot as a representation of the cycle of seasons and thus related to fertility rites, this view is challenged in more recent scholarship as incorrect or simplistic. His name comes from the Canaanite word Yam, meaning "Sea."

Just a note that if you would like to watch a wonderful 7 part series about Jesus Christ, check out BYU TV’s series entitled, “Messiah: Behold the Lamb of God.” I bring it up here because Gaye Strathearn and many other Biblical scholars are featured in this beautifully-done series. It used to be available on RU-vid, but I don’t see it there now. I know there are quite a few resources out there, but I highly recommend this, along with “Follow Him,” of course.

How can we be like Jesus,??!! If we believe is not complate, mostly religion church only believe with Jesus, or GOD almighty, the father!!!, its only father and the son,!!!. How son to be deliver to this earth without a woman, a mother, GOD HAS A HOUSE, HOUSE OF GOD, (CHURCH). IF ONLY FATHER AND SON,!! WHERE IS THE MOTHER??!! WHY CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IF NOT BELIEVE IN THE MOTHER!? ".CHRISTMAS IS THE BORN OF LORD JESUS, THERES A MOTHER DELIVER LORD JESUS!!! "...ITS I FEELS NOT COMPLATING, IM TAKING MY LEARNING OF THIS, WE HAVE TO COMPLATE THE BELIEVING, THEN WE CAN GET TROUGH LORD JESUS AND THE FATHER, AS WE, HUMANS, NO ONE WILL GOES TO THE SON FIRST BEFORE RESPECT, HONORED THE MOTHER, THEN THE MOTHER WILL HANDED YOU TO HER SON, 🙏🙏🙏,ITS MY LEARNING, THANK YOU.

Thanx so much for these podcasts. Moses in the Lord’s genealogy: Moses, however important, was not from the tribe of Judah, but from Levi. Secondarily, Uriah the Hittite, we don’t know that he wasn’t a Jew from some dispersed branch of the tribe. He could have been one of those that developed iron or whatever. I think he was a Jew from Anatolia. Ruth the Moabitess, she also came thru the Covenant line as a descendant of Lot. Remember the Lord told the Hebrews to leave the Moabites alone that they were kinsmen. Thanx again for your oodcasts
