I was really touched by Dr. Muhlestein's comment, "Let's make sure love of God and each other is at the heart of all that we do." I think that is a good measure for us to use when evaluating our own behavior.
Thanks for your wonderful interpretation about the leaven of the Pharisees. We need to be careful of those things in our lives that can turn to mold when taken to excess, such as social media.
I would like to say I really enjoy this podcast. It is uplifting and inspiring which truly makes me a better person. I also would like to comment on Kerry’s thought about looking at what the outside world says and filtering that through what the prophets have said. Especially our modern day profit President Nelson. Amen to that!
So much appreciated this lesson! Thank you! I love the miracles! I have been married to a wonderful man for over 60 years. He is not of my faith, but good and honest and loving, and I pray every day for a miracle! Some day it will happen!!!❤🇨🇦
The story of the Gentile woman in Mathew 15:22-28 is introduced right after Christ talks about what we eat and how it affects what we say and do (become). She is willing to eat the very crumbs in her desire and humility. Her example in the moment, and how it applies to the previous teaching and the previous teaching applies to her is a beautiful lesson within the full chapter.
This was excellent!! Love the reminder that Pres Nelson told us to pray for miracles!! And that they may not all come at once but in stages like the blind man who at first saw men walking like trees. Then later was completely healed.
I have been sick for almost 5 years now and this resonated with me so powerfully. Waiting on the Lord is so torturous sometimes but He can heal what is damaged. ❤
My observation is that the Pharisees are looking for offenses and denying the blessings while the certain woman was looking past offense in humility seeking for a blessing.
It's interesting Christ tells some of the first people he heals to tell no one, but it's not like these people could hide the fact that they could now see, hear, etc. I wonder if these times are more like our own personal blessings at times when Christ is possibly not telling us to hide the fact that we've been blessed, but not to go proclaiming it loudly for attention.
Thank you brethren. I love your discussion, teaching, and reasoning together. I have paused the video to leave this comment, so I don't forget it. I apologize if you later answer this question. One thought that might add another layer came to my mind at about the 27:40 mark that I would like to share as a question is : could the concept of "the first shall be last and the last shall be first" partially influence the Savior's decisions of whom to primarily interact with? During his mortal ministry was he establishing the foundation of this, showing his power in teaching, blessing, and ordaining/organizing the house of Israel? (The Gentile's turn is later.) I like all of the other ideas you all presented in this story.
I would love to see this scene where he compares this woman to a “dog” depicted in the Chosen. In my mind, I imagine that the Savior had heard someone refer to her as a gentile “dog” and then in a gesture of loving sarcasm (like a wink or some other gesture that says “they call you a dog, but I’m not. Let’s play with this pejorative phrase a bit”). Then she catches his sarcasm and plays on it. That’s how I think it went down.
Wonder if Pharisees were thinking about the time God commanded to have Aaron/ sons “thou shall bring Aaro/ sons and wash them w water…..” just wondering.thank you.
When it was discussed that Christ taught convenient people and they taught others, brought to mind the passage of the doctrine and convenient where it explained that between his death and resurrection he organizanized the spirits the same way. He did not go himself.
Obviously, the Savior is traveling a lot to bless a lot of people and to teach them. But he doesn’t travel everywhere in every region so he’s not blessing everyone. So I’m wondering what his intention was in where he did go it had to have meaning. They were many many worldwide congregations of people that didn’t get this opportunity. I’m wondering his purpose, and where he went and wHen.
I dont understand the order.. the woman the well! And He interacts with Gentiles! It doesn’t make sense… Jesus does bless non Israelites.. Have you read Corrie Ten Boom??
I watched Scripture Central and they interpreted it, that Jesus knew her faith, He wanted to test/stretch it, by firstly ignoring her, then saying no, and then finally giving her the miracle. They said it's like how the Lord is with us and our prayers. Sometimes He is silent, sometimes He says no, and eventually in His own time our wish is granted.
