I still can’t believe he won that race…his top speed is amazing. If he can survive the NCAA season and stay fresh into June, he has a decent chance to make worlds.
No. It is because of the shifting camera angle. The camera is placed almost on the finish line. Watch again. Use "k" for start/stop and "." to move frame by frame. "," moves 1 frame back.
@@knutespenbergby3265 I followed your directions. Thanks! Taking into account the angle at which we'll see the finish line at 6.0, what I see is Mathew Boling going from tied for last at 5.5 to tied for the lead at 6.0, to crossing the finish line first.
He had the same slow start issue when he got his wind assisted sub-10 in the 100m in HS. He just might not have the reflexes to be a better starter than that.
@@marcusaurelius5149 how was it a false start? did he actually start before the gun or within the 0.1 after the gun which is the minimum reaction time? i think it's kinda hard to believe someone manages to start exactly before they shoot as it's random guess, if that's what happened. If he just started before the gun i guess it would have been disqualified anyways and people wouldn't talk about it.
There was actually talk amongst the track community that the 6.45 that Jones threw down was also a false start. Personally, I don’t know what to think of it, but I just felt like that needed to be said.
With all the events he’s doing, I can only wonder if Boling is the best decathlete waiting to happen. Regardless, he’s the definition of a team player!
would not hold up in the throwing events........his jumping and running is not enough to overcome this shortfall imho....his high jump would not be good enough either....
damn, bummed for micah. I raced against him quite a few times in high school. going into my senior year, based on the previous year being the one where all the other top sprinters had graduated which left me being the fastest one in the district, I was supposed to be the one to beat until micah showed up and just demolished everyone without even trying. he was a cool dude, didn't really talk much but its high school track so who cares. I was very very impressed by him and so was everyone else. regardless, i performed my best, made it to state for all my events, was surrounded by tons of awesome team mates and it is cool seeing someone I raced against go so far so fast in his track career. wishing the best for him.
In the first false start, a dumb ass pole vaulter is clapping for himself only about 20m away from the start line. A clap can sound like a gunshot and cause a false start. The NCAA needs to go with an instant replay judge.
Your video productions are excellent. Over the years I've become more of a track and field fan and your channel has only contributed to that with all the great content you put out. I also appreciate your commentary and how you are so complimentary to all the athletes. I hope Bowling can keep competing at this level later in the year.
@@TheoOJamaloO1 Wrong. They reach their absolute fastest just after 30 meters with top sprinters reaching it between 35 to 55 meters. Boling was clearly decelerating as he was crossing the finish line.
@@Upthebroncos310 He vaulted 4.50 in highschool on a lark. He's 6-2, 180. Check out those broad shoulders. Yeah, he can throw. The question is can he hurdle. That ain't easy.
The pressure to execute a good 60m when ur in the top 5 in the world is hard to compose yourself I guess when ur as young as these guy's but with age n experience u hold ur composure better. Sad to see such talent be DQ'd in the 1st round. But how sweet to watch the development of Matt Boiling and doing 60m-400m is unbelievable. I remember many many yrs ago reading results in an Athletics magazine (B4 internet) n Carl Lewis was in a very rare 400m race which he done in 47.1sec, now compare that to what matt can do and many many more sprinters in the USA ATM it's looking very good for American sprinting as a whole. Will Jamaica have an upsurge like this very soon along with other brilliant sprinters from around the world, we might see an all 8 sprint race this year where all 8 go under 10sec? It wud be great to see. Irish sprint fan reporting here 🇮🇪🏃♀️🥇🥇🏃♀️🇮🇪
I think Matt started slow because he just watch 3 great runners get eliminated! He didn’t want to risk it. Matt has improved his start in the 60, which is why I am thinking he must have psyched himself out
i wanna see how he does in a 100m dash. clearly this guy has some top end speed that is limited by a 60m race. would be interesting to see if he can do a sub 9.9
TRACK IS SHOOTING ITSELF IN THE FOOT! Williams and Jones' disqualifications is a clear example of why track will never be that popular. Fans deserve to see the best of the best. Imagine going to a rock concert and the star performer is disqualified from playing because he played a wrong chord while warming up. Crazy!
Finished 5th in the 60 final with 2 of the fastest runners in the world missing. Williams was a freshman last year, and made the olympic team as a relay alternate. Boling also finished 3rd in the long jump,an event I thought he would win. He has a lot of improving to do,if he is going to be a world class athlete.
I saw him just TOTALLY embass himself in the 60 and 200, so let's take this praise down a notch until he can learn to relax a bit more and not choke. Respectfully.
But a great start will take some energy away from his top end. That's how it works. But he can still improve his time with a great start just don't expect that same top end with a great start.
@@TrojansFirst not really, just look at Bolt, he managed to start fairly quickly even though he is massive and he has the best top end speed ever recroded.
@@thewalkingjoke3843 my point is that we have a finite amount of energy. If more energy is expended on a great start it leaves slightly less for the finish.
@@TrojansFirst you look at it the wrong way, he is already spending a lot of energy on his start because his start is inefficient; he could get better at the start without sacrificing speed later on.
