Matthew follows Jesus...back home? 

As someone who left Islam to follow Christ, I understand the family struggle. My family wants me dead for leaving their religion. I put Jesus above everything and everyone, myself included. I have denied myself, picked up my cross and followed Him. I don’t know where I’m suppose to go but I trust my God has a special plan for me. Hallelujah ✝️

As someone who is autistic, I love Matthew.

I love how Jesus called Matthew to follow him and Matthew LITERALLY up and left!

The calling of Matthew made me weep it was so beautiful he was rejected and not wanted but Jesus chose him ♥️🥺

I am also on the spectrum. I grew up in the 70s, when people didn’t know much about it. I had no support from my family. My mother used to tell people, “don’t pay any attention to him, he’s different.“ Everytime Matthew describes himself as different, I feel closer to his character. When Jesus said, “get used to different,“ I have never felt more proud of myself.

This show is PHENOMENAL. I can’t say it enough! The writers are clearly Spirit-lead. I love the humanity behind each of the Biblical characters!

Gaius being a father-figure to Matthew is one of the most wholesome things in yhis show❤❤

Gaius seems like a genuinely nice person given how he was caring for Matthew in his own way and reached out to his family.

That Roman soldier seemed like a genuine person but professional in his approach.

The Chosen is a TV show about those who were peripheral to Christ. It's not meant to replace the Bible. But its timing upon the culture is surely by God's design. Mathew represents so many people who aren’t accepted and yet Jesus chose him. Christ wants each one of us not just the people to look and talk of us.

I’m a grown man and I started tearing up when he said “ follow me”

I loved seeing the transformation of characters in this scene. For years and and years Matthew and his parents hadn’t talked at all. Suddenly there comes Jesus and his amazing sermon and it motivates Matthew to speak to his parents and his parents to reconcile with him. Wow! So amazing to see that. It’s amazing to witness the miracles that god can perform and sometimes listening to his word can help us in certain situations more than others

The way that Jesus called Matthew, and how Matthew just gave in. One of my most favorite scenes. And how his heart changed while following Jesus.. so many like Matthew need Jesus but are stubborn.. I pray for our country, and our world.. God bless💙

As the only person in my hindu family to come to Christ through a dream, and baptised in Him, continuing to live with my parents, learning how to love them like Jesus Wants, despite their disapproval of my faith - needless to say, the last scene with Matthew's family reconciling with him gives me immense hope. I know that my Lord Jesus will carry me through and one day bring my family to Him

I, too, am “mildly fond” of Matthew. As someone who has been praying for reconciliation of a family member for many years this has given me so much hope. The telling thing was that both sides listened to Jesus’ words and acted upon them. That will continue to be my prayer, for my heart and theirs. Thank you, Chosen Team.

I've watched all of these episodes and seen this progression take place. Multiple times. For some reason, until today, watching this video, pieced together the way it was, I never really identified with Matthew all that much. Today, something is different. I cried as Matthew said that he didn't know why Jesus chose him. To be honest, I feel the same. But if Matthew is part of God's plan then so am I. Thank you for this today.

As someone with autism, i relate to Matthew's portrayal so much. And little moments like him fidgeting with the cloth and laying it down to hug his Eema (which wasn't scripted) are such freat visual storytelling. Showing how anxious he is, and then how relieved he is to be accepted back into his family.

As an autistic Christian myself, the way he potrays the feeling of being overwhelmed, of scrabbling to keep up with the world around him while he's still trying to make sense of fice minutes ago, is pitch perfect. This is exactly what the world can be like for people like me.

Matthew is my favorite Apostle. He represents many ostracised as different for mental abilities. Different is good.

I hated as a kid always feeling different from everyone, and now as an Adult I’ve been battling p0rn addiction I fell into when I was younger. It’s destroyed the great life I had tried to build with others, and now all I want is to be forgiven and leave behind my Sin. God help me in my journey, that I might have the Faith to follow Him like the Woman that I love has. Hail to the Lord King of Heaven and Earth, and to all those at the Chosen, thank you for this series. It’s made it a bit easier to read the Scriptures. My Lady I love so dearly and I read them often. Her favorites are Isaiah and Psalms right now. So, truly, thank you.

Matthew being called is one of my favorite moments. I love how he responds in shock - very well acted. And i relate to his feeling different from others. Its nice to see neurodiversity represented so respectfully.

I love how you show Matthew’s progression to repentance. It doesn’t happen immediately. Even when he decides to follow Jesus, he still doesn’t fully see what he’s done wrong. Then when confronted by Simon and Andrew in Season 2, he’s still defensive. It takes two full seasons of growth and learning to be humble before he actually apologizes. I just love how it demonstrates that even genuine conversion isn’t an overnight fix. It’s a long-term commitment to do the work and faith that God will see you through. He still hasn’t had a real heart-to-heart resolution with Simon though. Hope that’s coming. Simon has some work still to do as well. Maybe this conflict will be the catalyst in Simon asking Jesus “How many times do I need to forgive my brother?” 🤔

I need to watch this from the beginning again. I love this show so much.

Blessed enough to have seen this with many other Chosen fans at the Atlanta premiere last year. The whole audience was crying and clapping. It was such an emotional moment. Can't imagine how Paras was feeling sitting there. He so beautifully portrays Matthew. And I'm sure this reconciliation was something many people can relate to on some level. I certainly can. Love this!

Love the character of Matthew. He is a lot like my 2 grandsons that are on the spectrum. ❤

My favorite moment here is when the parents realize that Matthew is Jesus' scribe. But a close second is the symbolism of Matthew putting down his ever-present tissue (20:14) in order to fully hug his mother. It's the moment he releases his past emotional bondage.

Matthew is so precious I am so glad that he made that decision to follow our Lord and Savior Matthew is a precious soul❤

Jesus the King! As long as you're not stuck in a religious (spirit) you can't understand how important this beautiful TV series is! The church was never meant to be divided into denominations. Out of order WHO CARES, we know the Word and this is truly ANOINTED by God for such a time as this 🙏 it's a beautiful thing to imagine how it may have been. I thank you Dallas and the wonderful crew and actors for such a phenomenal job! I lost my husband last April so it's been a journey for myself and our 2 son's. He was so lost and committed suicide, but my kid's and I were already absolutely hooked on The Chosen. I have to say there are no words for how this show has helped us through it! We all ware our Chosen sweatshirts and every time we do SOMEONE always comments to us that they love the show as well! Believers sure, but mostly unbelievers who are finding their way to Jesus through watching! It ALWAYS turns into a conversation and sincere love by the time we part ways. It's truly a blessing how The Chosen has given common ground to share Jesus with strangers who would have mabey never even thought about it. God bless and keep you all 🙏❤️‍🔥

My brother was on the spectrum, and I see so much of him in Matthew. Often, it wasn't easy to be around him and even harder to try and understand him. Sadly, he passed away before I had the chance to see The Chosen and specifically, this story line. Think it would have helped me a great deal in understanding where he was at, and even more so, where I should have been at as far as understanding him.

Oh look, a compilation of some of my favorite scenes!! I have a non-speaking autistic son, and I cannot understate what an amazing job Paras Patel is doing with his portrayal of Matthew. My son rarely makes eye-contact, but when he does it is the most intense eye-contact you will ever experience... and Paras does this particularly well. And the mannerisms are spot-on. THANK YOU, CHOSEN TEAM! THANK YOU, PARAS!
