+Joanah Ramirat I KNOW! That's 'cause he IS Chandler -- the Friends producers knew that he had a sharp wit and was the funniest out of the cast, so they decided to base Chandler on Matthew. They even let him sit in on producer meetings since he had so many genius humour ideas.
Am I reading in to this joke too much? Because my very first reaction before I even realized if the audience were laughing along with me or not was, "That's clever." While not a laugh out loud joke, it seemed like s smile worthy joke based on cynicism and philosophy to me.. Guy standing on the streets of the most famous city in the world, known for its 'modern' life and wealth and colourful populace, looking at the people and screaming "Puppets! Puppets! Puppets!". An average, normal guy assuming he was 'selling' something? That's got layers of observational humour I feel.. :)
***** When he says "Funny story actually", you would think there was some sort of misunderstanding, like him saying he wanted a bed on a beach and the genie thinking he said head of a peach, but he genuinely wanted his head to be a peach. It's funny because it's the opposite of what you would expect and kind of an anti-joke.
wtf , the time is flying , he's so old now ! i won't lie , i started to watch friends few months ago , and when i watched the last episode it was so sad ! my point is : when we like a serie or anything else and it ends , it's kinda sad !
For those of you confused about the puppets joke, it is important that it takes place in New York. They have vendors who basically yell out what they're selling. Sort of like the vendors at a sporting event walking through the stands. So when the guy walks up to him, he thinks he's selling puppets so he asks him how business is going. Then as Matthew said, the guys screaming puppets was just insane.
I feel that the joke was super hilarious because he said it! His faces and actions are what make it funny. If anyone else in the world told me the joke I wouldn't have laughed historically like I just did
I agree with the commenter down below. Matt needs his own talk show/radio show. Only, in my fantasy, I would have Michael Weatherly as his co host because they both have an awkward charm about them that I find adorkable. It's amusing to me how Ellen always seemed indifferent toward Weatherly whenever he came on the show but obviously has such a soft spot for Perry(who wouldn't though). If those two guys had a show together, even if they rehashed their characters, I would watch. Even if they clashed. =)
I really thought the joke was going to be something like "A man walks into a bar with a peach for a head. The barman asks "What's up with the peach for a head?" and the man says "Mmmmph mmmph mmph"
+Rebecca Palumbo I have no idea. Some people were saying it's because of his dentures others were saying that it was drugs. Don't know which one is true.
After he said "What business", I kept waiting for the punch line......and then I realized that that is the punch line! I don't care if you crack stupid jokes Mathew..I love you ^_^
The guys is shouting out to the people walking by, referring to them as "puppets that they have become". The peach joke was "Yeah, as if I asked for this peach head, dumbo." People can't understand this? He is sarcastic af with his jokes and they're brilliant. They don't make u roll on floor. They make you chuckle and appreciate the humour. Matthew Perry's wits were top notch.
xD the peach head one? usually when jokes start with "a genie granted 3 wishes" , you expect there to be a mixup - like the guy asked for a lot of money & the genie gave him a piece of paper with "a lot of money" written on it or something like that. this guy just asked for a peach head bc that's what he wanted xD the puppets guy - if you hear that someone was standing on the street yelling "carrots!" you'd think he's selling carrots. so same thing, but this guy was just insane xD
Pika Puppy NO NO. THATS not what he meant.... He was calling the people on the street.. PUPPETS.. 😂 😂. GET IT. thats why... He said what business. He was calling them Puppets
LOL i love all of these ellen vids with matthew perry! and gosh, him analyzing the character and the joke in the beginning, all that subtext, such an actor thing to do :D
