Who's watching this in 2023? It's strange, when I first heard about Matthews tragically premature passing, like everyone else around the world, I was in a state of stock. Then once it sunk in, I was just so sad, and still am several weeks on. Even watching Friends feels different now, because I'll watch a few episodes and get lost in the fuzzy warm nostalgia and enjoy the infectiously feel-good nature of the show. But then a scene will come on with just Matthew, or the camera will point only on him for a second, saying a trademark sarcastic one liner, or chewing up the scenery with his hugely underrated physical comedy, that became indistinguishable from Chandler Bing. I digress, but in those moments I'd start to feel sad again when i remember he's gone, and it became a bittersweet mix of e But what I didn't expect when emotions. When i came across this interview though, i suddenly realised it was the first time since his death i was watching Matthew Perry as himself, not as Chandler. And I expected to find it hard to watch, more so than Friends because it's not him playing a character its the real him, and yet strangely i felt nothing but joy from the moment he walked out. Maybe it didnt feel sad because it was like peeking behind the curtain, seeing him interact with Alan and showing where his boundaries are, how he responds to personal questions about his addiction, how he shows a vulnerable side but always still cracking a joke and a smile. You can see his humanity bursting through the screen and I think that resonated so much with me, because as much as i love him as Chandler Bing, its easy to disassociate the person from the character. Especially when that character is so beloved, and plays a key role to one of TVs most popular shows of all time. But its important to remember hes not just that funny, awkward, zany guy from Friends. The real Matthew Perry, from what ive seen, so much deeper and relatable than that. I can't wait to buy his book so i can get to know this great guy even better. Hope he's gone to a better place. RIP ❤

I don't know why but I felt sorry for Matthew Perry in this...I felt like he wasn't feeling the Brit humour. As a Brit,our humour comes across like we are taking the piss out of you when we are not (sometimes we are). We just see the funny side in everything! Respect to MP for all he has achieved and conquered!༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

A lot of ppl don’t realize Matt spent about 6 months in the hospital with pancreatitis about 3 yrs ago. He’s a very sick man.

How can Alan do this “bit” of friends with the chair and using matthews alcohol addiction in it to have a laugh! I think seriously that was un tastefull kicking a rolling tray filled with champagne out of the way just to make a joke. It’s a serious illness that people struggle with everyday and something like this can push them over the edge.Just look at Matthews face.

Who asks an alcoholic on a light entertainment show if they still have urges to drink?! Jesus wept

What a waste of a guest. Poor Matthew Perry.

He looks awful. Poor thing didn't know what to do with himself after Friends ended. Too much time on his hands and lots of money obviously resulted in a lot of bad decisions.
