@@Rosterized bud watch that again, mcdavid was falling before that stick even touched his skate, he felt tkachuk touch from the jump around and began to fall. was 100% a dive
Looks like a damn trip to me , idk if you've ever played but you to embellish going that fast and pop back to your feet that quick I'd have to say that's a clear trip
It’s cuz mcdavid is a pussy🤣 if you so much so touched iginla back in the day he’d make sure to get you back by throwing knuckles and scoring goals. True captain
Yup, he just got tangled up and fell forward because he was building steam. Anyone who thinks this was a dive needs their head examined. He popped back up because he figured there'd be no call, and rightfully so... so he just wanted to get back in the play.
@@Brasulda exactly what I said? That would be the tangled up part... Anyone who plays hockey has been in this exact scenario. On both sides. Tkachuk was lucky not to get called for tripping, although I don't think it was intentional. A stick between the legs can easily drop a guy by accident. Specially one moving as fast as McTavish
For anyone saying he dived, RU-vid has a great feature where you can slow down the video. He clearly caught his right skate while going full speed while also pulling his arm back. It was a clear trip and this is coming from a wings fan.
Putting it in slow mo also shows McDavid jump with his left skate at 0:35 as well :/. Only reason this is a thing is because it's McDavid. He doesn't need to do this type of stuff but I guess it gets frustrating being in his position.
@@onyblitz9178 yea man I would imagine it being frustrating. Every night you play your gonna get targeted by the other team, but he really cant do anything about it most the time but complain and occasionally take a dive, because his team is that much better with him playing. I'm a pens fan, I've watched this stuff Sids entire career.
@Bradley Dods You must be losing vision in your eyes, get them checked. McDavid's skate gets caught by Tkachuk's stick. McDavid falls and gets right back up. Nothing more, nothing less. McDavid was CLEARLY not diving.
@@LC-ht7sg haha watch it again; try 0.5 or 0.25 speed if your eyes aren't good enough. Tchakuk's pulled McDavid's stick, turning his torso around, then Tchakuk's stick hooked across the laces on McDavid's right foot; those two combined and he fell. Whether the stick in the skates was intentional or not he fell because of what Tchakuk did; any "real" hockey player knows that's a trip haha. Nice try though. He popped back up because he was focused on the puck and with his speed that'd have become a 2-on-1 if he had beaten the defenseman to the loose puck.
I watched it half speed. McDavid didn’t embellish at all. Chuk grabbed him and hooked his skate he was about to take a stride with. Causing him to fall. Maybe chuk should play cleaner instead of crying.
@@teajay3671 lmao watch the video. .25 speed shows a very blatant leg lift BY McDavid to contact the stick, and then he immediately flops despite being completely stable
@@TrenbologneSandwich whatre you talking about he was midstride and the stick wrapped around his ankle and he also grabbed mcdavids stick at the same time im guessing youre only defind tkachuk because youre a flames fan?
@@dominikbier6189 lmao I hate the Flames. I just watched the video kiddo. I'm guessing you're only blatantly ignoring the video because you're an Oilers fan
@@jeffb7244 let me grab you from the back of your jersey and start rag dolling you and see what happens. Get a clue on physics there buddy. But I'm not surprised Neanderthal oiler fans do not understand that simple concept. Have fun watching your team on the golf course missing the play offs. Pathetic team.
So tkachuk stick was definitely in mcdavids skates which I give him was unintentional but you gotta know where your stick is at all times and mcdavid falls…. How is this not a penalty
That’s what I thought at first too. If you pause right before, during and after you can see that Tkachuk’s blade was turned away from Mcdavids laces and was simply laying against the side of the skate. I think he fell or ”fell” from having his stick pulled behind his back, but that seems like a light one.
@@dcul8812 Rule 57 - Tripping 57.1 Tripping - A player shall not place the stick, knee, foot, arm, hand or elbow in such a manner that causes his opponent to trip or fall.
@@TrenbologneSandwich 😂😂 no. I’m not saying McDavid never embellishes, but that was a trip. Can’t blame him for embellishing after how many calls get missed
0:33 for those of you who are blind af... Tkachuk grabs Mcdavids stick and pulls him.... Maybe most you "hockey fans" havent skated nor played but when someone pulls your momentum on skates its hard not to fall
I'm not a fan of either team but I do like McDavid...but that tug isnt what caused him to fall. If Mc david were to fall from that tug, his legs would go forward. Think about it... you get tugged back from your waist up your legs would be the ones moving forward. It wouldn't be the other way around. I never played pro or remotely close to it but did play/skate alot. I'm also an animator, and this looks off to me. Its possible McDavid felt the tug at first and tried to counter balance his weight forward to push off, Tkachuk lets go or never had a full grasp of his stuck and Mcdavid push forward led him to fall. I think Tkachuk wouldn't have been so upset if he didnt feel like McDavid dived, I also dont think Mcdavid is known for diving. If you ask me he lost balance trying to counter a shift of weight that was never there.
Plus his stick is wrapped across his own body, so it's even more awkward. Chuck knew he was guilty, his reaction is to try for coincidentals instead of 1 penalty, I guess it worked because they called nothing.
Clayton. It was a dive. He just made it look good, that's all. He's a pro. I am also a fan of McDavid. How can you not be? But he is human. And he dove.
He is not upset. He is trying to get a reaction out of the Oilers. That is what Tkachuks do. That is what all pests do. If you get under their skin you get them off their game. He might be a little upset that he didn't get the reaction he wanted but he doesn't really think McDavid dove there.
If you slow the video down, Tkachuk grabs his stick at the same time that his stick hits McDavid's right foot, That would cause anyone to lose balance.
Tkachuk also grabs conners stick and pulls. So you have the trip on the right foot simultaneous with him pulling backward on his left side. I don't think there's and embellishment here, especially with how quick he pops back up
Looked like a legit penalty to me. Tkachuk grabbed Mcd's stick. He didn't have to do that. Interference or whatever you want to call it. The puck was nowhere near Mcd. There's a penalty "Holding the stick" for a reason.
Not only was Tkachuk’s stuck in Connor’s skates but McDavid’s stuck was also caught on Tkachuk which turned McDavid, I think no penalty but if any then should be a tripping but definitely not a dive
@@123hockey9 eh players always try to sell it and i mean the amount of missed calls on mcdavid is pretty high not saying i like it when people sell a trip but if thats what he has to do to get calls then so be it i guess
@@AceMatthew25414 put 0.25x speed and look at 0:33 . McDavid going full speed leaned forward and this very easily happens in scenarios like that, fucking ridicilous that people instantly call everything "diving" these days
@@Rosterized still look like he could've powered through that stick, it wasn't between both his legs and it was a soft one handed stick on the right ankle, never know for sure though what it felt like for mcdavid at game speed
@@Rosterized I don't think it's ridiculous. You see diving infesting other sports like soccer and basketball and we just don't want to see that happen in hockey. I'd much rather see players and fans being overly sensitive to potential dives rather than players flopping around like fish out of water.
Tkachuk absolutely hooked mcdavids back leg which is tripping this is just another missed call to add to the ESPN reel that cause the anchors on ESPN to say hockey is a joke
Tkachuk grabbed his stick/glove??? this is a penalty to someone that makes their bacon from speed. He slowed him down, whether with his stick or hand... it's a penalty.
McDavid literally falls (dives) constantly if you watch him play. Not a flames fan either. He's one of the strongest skaters ever but falls all the time. Notice how he always falls like he's falling into bed.
I mean Tkachuk's stick did get hooked around McDavid's ankle probably by accident, but I would rather see no call there over a trip and/or an embellishment call
That was a laughable obvious around the skate ankle takedown I'm not even a fan of either team I'm just a fan of the NHL in general anyone who disagrees that that wasn't a takedown has an extreme bias towards the oilers
You can hate McDavid all you want, that was a trip all day long. Doesn’t seem to be a dive. It’s more of a “fuck, gotta get the puck.” And shoots back up. If it was a dive he would have stayed down
I think there’s malfeasance by both parties. By the black letter of the rules, this appears to be a trip. That being said, McDavid appears to feel the illegal contact and goes down very easily. I’d say legitimate trip that McDavid certainly wanted to make sure the official noticed.
Man, so many comments about McDavid bein a bitch or taking a dive...do you guys even think or do you just skip to anger? Maybe he did. My first take on this was that it looked like he set himself up to get tripped and then did. Do you know how much that shit gets under the other teams skin??
Hell never have a vagina like mcdavid either that was clearly a pussy ass dive cause he knows he doesnt want to fight because tkachuk would beat the fuck out of him
Mouth guards are required to play in the NHL. This guy is always chewing on it, even during the play. It should be a penalty if it isn't fully in your mouth during the play. Just like any other equipment that isn't worn properly. The NHL is always concerned about head injuries yet they don't enforce that simple thing. Besides, it makes him look like a baby with a soother.
people that think this is a dive after watching the replay are either blind or have never played a competitive hockey game in their life, when you are skating even a little fast it doesnt take much to lose balance specially if you cant take a stride cause someomes stick holds your foot back. that being said tkachuk i dont think meant to trip him but he definitely meant to grab his stick even though nothing came of it. anybody that watches calgary knows tkachuk can play dirty but shit happens, alot of penalties are accidents, happens nearly every game. tkachuk and basically every single player in their career at some point has tried to sell a penalty in some capacity. dont witch hunt players for not being perfect.
McDavid fell no ifs ands or buts. However the ref blowing the play down can easily make it seem as a penalty which warrants the embellishment reaction from Tkachuk because he didn't do anything to trip McDavid. So is there reason for Tkachuk to be fed up in the moment yes is this a penalty for ither player? No
Well.... it looks like he dove bigtime but Tkachuk grabs his stick at a very inconvenient time, which I wouldn't doubt would throw him off balance like that at least a little. I'd say just no calls either way.
