Harmonica Practice Vol.5: After Lester Young the most logical follow up for me is Charlie Parker. Here are head & solo of his blues "Perhaps" played twice in two different keys - which is always good for improving technique - & on two different Seydel-harmonicas, both tuned in "C":
The "Symphony Grand Chromatic" and the brand new "Symphony 48 Chromatic".
"Perhaps" comes here in two parts both are FIRST TAKE RECORDINGS :-) .
Part 1 is played in the original key of "C" on the "Symphony Grand Chromatic" with Acryl comb and wooden coverplates made by Santana harps.
It has the four original Parker-choruses - one head and three with the improvised solo - followed by two choruses of my own.
Then starts part 2 in the transposed key of "F" again with the four original Parker-choruses and some of my own. It ends as on the original recording with one chorus of the out-head.
Part 2 is played on the "Symphony 48 Chromatic" and it is also interesting to notice the different sound of the two harmonicas.
Although part 1 is in the original key and range of the alto sax for the harmonica to me it seems better to play it in the key of "F" because this way it is in a stronger register of the instrument and corresponds better with the energy of the alto sax recording.
