Hiking the upper and lower dells, waterfalls and the Vermillion river trail.
I hiked about 6 miles, spending 2 hours in the dells/canyons area and 1 hour on the river trail. The dells were very impressive with their high waterfalls and beautiful canyons. There are also caves you can walk through at the lower dells, they are at the end of the canyon by the waterfall! The river is also nice. I may try to come back to kayak it. It was also a lot less crowded than Starved Rock State Park, which is only a few miles away. Thanks for watching!

That is one of the most under rated parks in the State of Illinois! It is truly a gem. Thanks for watching!

Do you have any recommendations on activities in the area other than hiking and what are the best locations to visit in matthiessen and starved rock? I wanna make sure I don’t miss anything important

At Matthiessen the river walk along the Vermillion river is also nice. The trails get a little hard to follow so pay close attention. In my video of Starved Rock, I only did the canyons. You may also hike up Starved Rock and Lovers Leap. If you get tired of hiking, you can also fish and have a bbq/picnic, or eat at the outdoor bar which is really cool!

I am super glad you liked it! Thanks again for watching. I try to keep posting interesting outdoor videos as often as possible. Check out the rest of my videos, most are local to the Northern Illinois region or midwest!
