Physician here. When a physician makes frightening statements with implications for national healthcare based solely on 'personal opinion' and not on evidence, you should find another physician. We are now in the age of evidence-based medicine, including psychiatry. O'Keane, to her credit, states clearly there is no evidence that the 8th amendment has a negative impact on anyone's mental health.

It might not be quantifiable, but you can trust your patients to know information about their own lives. Do you think you know better than a woman about what’s best for her life and social situation?
