I rode Matugani earlier this season, and I concur it’s really a perfect fit for the park. It straddles an intensity threshold that’s bound to excite, but not overwhelm, pretty much any guest.

My partner and I agreed that Matugani and Yuta Falls have really made this place an all-day park. I really think this park is now on-track for success. It really is a special place and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

While it operated at Liseberg it also had soft over the shoulder straps for a while. It changed while it was operating. The reason for the bit of straight track after the launch is because it crossed a small river there while it was operating at Liseberg. Unlike LSMs which can be place pretty much anywhere the mechanical room for the hydraulic launch had to be on land and there for the straight track to take you over the river for the top hat that was place on the other side of the river at Liseberg. That also explains the funky supports in the valley after the top hat. They are placed like that to go on either side of the small river.

@@williamjg2347I don't mean this as a slight, but that's probably why they got a favorable deal on it. A lot of capital goes into building a theme park from scratch and acquiring a pre-owned coaster that can be seen as a signature attraction day 1 that has a potentially limiting feature or two due to original constraints (such as needing to cross a river) is a relatively affordable alternative to other options. It's a very solid ride and we are happy to have it here in Iowa. God Bless you, Liseberg.

Never Thought That They Managed To Get The Hydraulic Launch Working Again After Being Relocated , When I Think About Hydraulic Launch Coasters Being Relocated That The Hydraulic Launch Is Being Removed And Replaced By A Magnetic Launch , But Matugani Proves Otherwise.

I did manage to ride Kanonen when it was at Liseberg back in 2016. And back then it did also have the newer vest restraints instead of the hard collars. But this coaster was just amazing for rerides again and again. Like many Scandinavian roller coasters it strikes that really good balance of being pure fun without being so intense its tiring. Plus we should also consider when this opened, it was the very first Launch coaster in all of the Nordics. No one in Scandinavia had experienced anything like this in their part of the world until Kanonen opened in 2005. Kanonen literally meaning "The Cannon" as if you, the rider, are being shot out of a cannon like a human cannonball. Even with the "Dull" straight track, I can see exactly why they did it. For one, its former location went over a river between the top hat and the rest of the layout, but also it gives general public riders the ability to realise the speed they're going at. Again back in the mid 2000's this was extremely novel. I think its also fair to say Kanonen sparked a wave of launch coasters across Scandinavia in the mid-late 2000's since that was the hot new thing back then with other parks being quick to get onboard, including Tusenfryd with Speed Monster and Fårup Sommerland with Lynet, so it definitely has a legacy to it as a trendsetter, and I'm glad it still lives on and can bring joy to people in midwestern America.

Why did they sell it/get rid of it and replace it. Has to be a reason.
@giantsgustav
@giantsgustav Год назад
@@stepsgamingThey opened Helix 9 years later, ridership went down from Kanonen due to their similarities. Then when Liseberg started to transform into more of a theme park they wanted to really build on the myths and legends part of the park, which Kanonen did not fit in to. So it was many small factors that eventually led to it’s closure/replacement with once again, a very unique ride for Northern Europe

I'm glad you reviewed this, this is a perfect coaster for many ages. It's thrilling but not too thrilling and it has decent positive Gs, airtime, hangtime, whip, a launch, pretty much a little all the forces.

We rode 3 times on our trip to Lost Island and I was completely surprised by how good it was! Definitely was not expecting it to be that good. Walking up to it I didn’t think it looked as intense as the launch turned out to be and I guess it’s smaller size gave the impression that it would be a more mild middle of the road experience. Always a great surprise when a coaster blows away your expectations! Can’t wait to get back there this year!

The launch actually stops much sooner than where you pointed to in the POV. If you look down into the launch track where the cable runs you'll see magnetic brakes inside the cable trough, those brakes are there to slow down the catch car so once it reaches those brakes you're no longer accelerating.

Seems like a fun little coaster, like a combination of Copperhead Strike and Ice Breaker, or a mini-Storm Runner or Maxx Force! Hope they can replace the restraints to lower the height limit though. That kind of sucks.

At night, they have a smoke machine effect releasing fog from the snake head before every launch and they've added a little more character with a pre-recorded spiel meant to be from Matugani herself.

I lived a few miles away and saw the park being built, but unfortunately moved before it opened (but fortunate to gtfo of Iowa!) Not surprised it has no crowd. Most people had no idea it was even being built as there were no commercials, billboards, etc anywhere. Maybe they're banking on the water park guest to walk across the street? Did you get to to the water park while you were there? It's rated as one of the top in the country.

This park is in desperate need of a big headlining attraction. I think a mid sized rmc would be perrfect. The large support structure would make it so you couldnt see the other end of the park. Or they could get in touch with that chinese park that never opened. They could buy a bunch of themeing from them along with 2 large new b&m coasters.
