Sambar is sweet because that restaurant is Udupi restaurant. Normally sambar is sweet in Udupi restaurant as sugarcane largely produced in Karnataka. You will get tangy sambar in Tamilnadu because they use more tamarind. You will get spicy sambar in Andhra because they use their famous Guntur mirchi.
Such a fun host. She knows her spots well. The sambar you had was an Udupi style sambar served in most Mumbai based Udupi restaurants. If you were to go to a place that serves food from Kerala or Tamil Nadu, you might get a thicker, dry roasted coconut masala based sambar which is darker at times and has more veggies.
Dnyanda is so well read and really a food enthusiast she’s much more than just explaining the taste and rating it out of ten on the other hand she can talk about food, their etymology to the things about knowing reasoning behind naming of dishes to scientific benefit of it, detailed review has been given about many iconic and popular places of matunga!
Great Video triggering memories of the city where I spent nearly 30 years working 😃😄 1) Arya Bhawan is famous more as Muthuswamy Caterers, rightly told by the local guide. However it's hardly the place to try fusion when you have authentic south Indian cuisine specially Idiyappam etc which isn't generally available in Mumbai. 2) Madras Cafe is a much awarded restaurant. It's Idlis, Sada Dosa, Rasam Vada , Sookha Nariyal chutney and Milgai / Mulga podi are outstanding. 3) Ram Ashray ( not Ram Asrey of Lucknow fame) opens at 5 in the morning and yet there's a queue at that time. Most Udupi restaurants in Mumbai have sweet sambhar to suit the Gujarati palate, by adding Jaggery. Matunga is an exception if you taste the sambhar at Mani's , Madras and Mysore Cafe, Etc.
Hi Anubhav the kadi with vada is a famous dish of south Karnataka. It's called boonda soup. A round shaped Urdu vada dipped in very thin soupy dal served with little ghee and some onions as garnish. It's mostly served as snack in the evenings.

@sir, ye wada is same as Bonda soup you will get in Mysore, Bangalore belt. Also the south kannada samabhar has a sweeter note. This sweet sambar is based on that I suppose.
Enjoyed this video. Food looked delicious. Your host did a great job and had a good personality. It was fun to learn from her and her passion for food shows. Can't wait to try food in Matunga.
अनुभव जी, में पिछले कुछ सालों से आपके फूड tour videos देखता आया हूँ, पर इस matunga tour मे आपकी detailing is EXCELLENT Many Congratulations pl keep it up as they are very useful for travellers like me
‘Tadgola’ is not bitter at all ,it’s a delicious fruit but you ate in a very wrong way but it’s not your fault, no one told you how to eat,you have to take out all peel delicately, as you were eating it for the first time you should have taken tender fruit i.e. Small one , you have to eat it as panipuri, no wastage of juice inside ,next time whenever you in any western coastal region ie kokan, goa in summer season try in this way,it’s delicious .
The USP of your videos is the words that you use when you like/dislike a dish and do not fabricate the praise for the dishes like other food vloggers. Really liked how you said regarding neyappam "corners khane main maza hai " 😊
Idli that you had in arya bhavan is called as tumbler idli, famous in tanjore district,Tamilnadu. This kadi wada is from udupi(try in Ambha bhavan, near king circle, currently run by two brothers.Want to know its history, you can ask them...yes,you have almost 60-70 types of sambhar .Ram asreya has opned another near kabutar khanna.try that if you come next time.bun poori near upupi krishan temple is yum.its bit sweet ,chutney balancess sweetness of that bun. Also certain families (hotels)add jaggery in sambhar and rasam to balance that imli effect.
Its called brahmin idli not because it resembles whatever, but its because the shape resembles Kotte kadubu i.e. idlis made in jackfruit leaf which gives it that distinct shape and taste. These idlis are made by saraswat brahmins in temples(and homes ofcourse). That might be the reason it got associated with 'brahmin'. But these are also made by others.
Sir, there are different types of Sambhar. There’s a sweet, khatta and spicy types eaten differently. The ones with idli and dosa are relatively sweeter.
I m from tamilnadu. There is right way of taking idli the podi. Mix ghee and podi in the plate. Roll idli over it and the take. If u leave it for few min like 30 min then... Mmmmmm mouth watering
Really amazing to see 🥰 so many varieties of Fruits availability here & benefits to human system seasonally and otherwise , plus loved the unique variation with "guava halwaa " 😊🤗. This was completely new to me , great experiment 👏👏👏 . Congratulations to you SIR .....🙏😇
Nice video Anubhav. Is this video taken last year summer? As the water fruit vendor says he sells the fruit in March April May . Seeing your videos is like watching a family movie . It not only contain food review, apart from that lot of good things you cover. Continue doing good videos. God bless.
Abhinav, if you want to showcase authentic South Indian food in Mumbai, you should be going to Matunga (veg).Sion (Non Veg), and Mahesh Lunch Home, Delhi Darbar, Baghdadi hotel which is must visit behind Taj . Chembur and Ghatkopar in Mumbai have also got authentic north Indian food. For pure Maharashtrian snacks, main course like Thalis you need to visit Dadar. u can also try Biriyani at Lucky restaurant in Bandra. All the best.
