Thank you for the Maui fix! It is crazy what is going on with the short term rentals, we are owners in Kapalua Ridge since 2013. Hopefully we will be full time residents when the hubby retires. The main reason for my comment is to say thank you for your videos and please consider running for county council! :) You have the perfect balance of respect for the locals and the islands and a common sense approach to solving many issues Maui is facing (homelessness, short-term rental, tourism, education system etc). Valley Isle's new walkway is very cool. I still think Royal Kahana is a much better property though!

OMG! That's where we stayed! The Royal Kahana by Outrigger. We got the most awesome steaks and salmon, at the TIMES store, to cook on those grills. Ninth floor, best (air b&b) accommodation of our whole Honeymoon. I remember us floating on our backs in the pool at night, looking up at the almost full moon in Jan/2020. So excited to dee it again! Thanks Eric!

Can you explain what these sky high HOA fees are used for? I understand some cover utilities but my utilities have never cost $1000 a month and chlorine and landscaping cant be that expensive. Id rather buy a house if the payment is the same.

The HOA also covers many things other than utilities. There is the insurance, employees of the AOAO, Landscaping Maintenance, building maintenance, reserve for future building issues and if there are any additional assessments for major projects (see all those sandbags....) Our building has one assessment from years ago rolled into our HOA fees too, so that adds to the HOA fee.

Eric can't get over no Beach there at all hardly anymore, I remember me and the wife would get up and go lay out on the sand and swim , in your "honest" opinion do you think they can push back the ocean , mother nature is a tuff girl . Like trying to stop a tornado .

Aloha Eric, next time you run into some locals, please ask them to say Molokai and Lanai for you. I would be interested to know if they pronounce it the way my ohana does who grew up around there. They did not emphasize the "i" at the end - Mahalo!

I have asked local Hawaiians that know the language really well and they confirmed it is the correct pronunciation - but it can be said the other way as well just like tomato tomaato
