The Red Sands is similar. Similar shape and shares the same nylon lens material. I have a couple pairs of RS, and they've been fantastic. Very light and comfy. The sticky nose piece and lighter material is worth the extra $
The only issue is the lens material, MauiPure. If you fancy this frame but also want a more durable lens with better scratch resistance, you better customize the sunglasses and choose a non-standard lens colour and they will be made from MauiBrilliant lens, which is still not as good as the SuperThin Glass in terms of durability, scratch resistance and clarity but much better than MauiPure.
Serengeti’s are photochromic. They adjust to the intensity of the light they receive, which is really nice when you drive or are constantly on the move. They have really good materials but not all models are polarized. May Jim’s are all polarized, regardless of the material of the lens or frame, however the optics of cheap models pale compared to Serengetis. But if you get a nice pair of Maui Jims with super thin glass technology, you’ll get excellent quality and the enhanced optics you’d get from Serengeti’s. And Maui Jim offers more colors to choose from. Both brands are really good. I own two MJ and one SG. I’m happy with all three.
Those are pretty nice and it doesn't seem like Maui is playing games with that deep ruby red color like another sunglasses manufacturer that pretended like each batch was different and being produced for the first time and totally uncontrollable. When they actually should have been spending time to tighten up that ruby red coating process to make it repeatable.
Never heard of this brand before. Is it so popular in the US? I dislike the logo, a crappy copy of the Ray-Ban's one. BTW still, looking for a third pair after buying 2 raybans years ago, just to change. Is a battle between these ones and oakley. But I still have to find an oakleys pair I like
