Six months ago, wildfires on Maui killed 100 people and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses, mostly in Lahaina. As slow-paced cleanup efforts continue, many survivors are still looking for long-term housing. The Legislature vowed to make Lahaina a priority this session. What are lawmakers considering and is it enough?

There was no discussion in this entire video with healthcare experts, physicians, nurses, etc. a major miss. Yes water is important but the previous and well documented gaps in the numbers of doctors, dentists, mental health professionals, nurses is an immediate issue that is killing Maui residents NOW

Come on people....permits handed out for restaurants and businesses but not homes? Businesses are taking a chance because they are for the tourists and this seems risky since the water must not be safe never mind the fact that water is made available to these businesses that essentially only employ very few. And who are these employees anyhow? Strangers from mainland?

Yes, the fires were popping up randomly which according to a longtime arborist, is not typical of a forest fire.

People who are homeless from the firestorm will be lucky IF They can even get the temporary modulars to Live in. Disaster victims in mainland only get to live in FEMA homes for a year, only short time, then pushed to streets, this is not any time to get picky. about trees, shrubs, BBQS etc. IF a fire victim can get then own modular home with a Stove, refrigerator, Kitchen table and separate bedrooms, this will help to stabilize them. people.

Are they willing to give up all the comforts and innovations of "the white man"? No more electricity, plumbing, etc if you don't want to be tainted by the "dirty white man". I guess some racism is okay, you must really want a big border wall. 🤷🏿

Spetic tank should not be and be replace with sewage line in place of rebuild of Lahaina town,as well the water infrastructure should be main goal for Lahaina because fire hydrant.Water is real issue and shortage of water for Lahaina Town and people of Lahaina. Government should take controll water issues and conserving water over usage for golf course Both state and county need work on this where water is major rebuilding of Lahaina and fix the steams that water for Lahaina and it's not about corporates plantations who are control of water of Lahaina and right of water.They are also responsible of issue in Lahaina.
