ANSWER: It appears that both Razaak & Maul were dealing 5% damage. My assumption is that 5% is the minimum damage we're able to do. Even with defence break on the enemy, it wasn't enough to bring us above 5% of the initial damage. Dolores' ATK boost was allowing them to beat the enemies' defence and deal more damage, the defence break from Maul then became relevant. Example for ease of brain (it's late okay, forgive me) **Base Damage** 10,000 ATK 100% CDMG bonus Enemy resistance = 12,000 (mostly linear right?) 0 ATK through resist, + 100% CDMG = 0 DMG However, min damage = 5% so we get 500 DMG **+15% Def Break:** 10,000 ATK Enemy resistance = 10,200 (12,000 - 15%) 0 ATK through resist, + 100% CDMG = 0 DMG However, min damage = 5% so we get 500 DMG **Dolores Boost of 5,000 ATK** 15,000 ATK Total (10k base + 5k Dolores) Enemy Resistance = 12,000 3,000 ATK through resist + 100% CDMG = 6,000 DMG **Dolores Boost of 5,000 ATK AND 15% Def Break** 15,000 ATK Total Enemy Resistance = 10,200 (12,000 - 15%) 4,200 ATK through resist + 100% CDMG = 8,400 DMG

7:55 We can confirm by having a quick look at maul and he, ... FUCK xD haha priceless. I think it also shows one of the reason why Defense isn't so good VS HP. It seems defense has a mitigation cap so the is no reason to push high levels of defense, once you reach the mitigation cap (which doesn't seem super high for defenders) you're better off having HP.
Could be interesting to do the same test but with a different hero that has a def break + razaak to see if it is in fact the def break (which of course it most likely is, thats the point of def break), but also to rule out a weird dolores / maul interaction bug (which it probably isn't). This also opens an interesting discussion (unless it's figured out) between which is more valuable, def/mresist reduction vs vulnerability. Thresholds on which is better ect. An example, which provides more damage between say Greeds mresist reduction, or Aeon vulnerability (just off the top of my head of a comparison). Breaking a def or mresist reduction milestone could be more valuable or almost required to do those big numbers?

I was excited about Razaak but as you said he is rather underwheling, I know there are other legos that needs change but I think he should be on that list as well since it looks he need qutie a set up/ gear to even rival a 4 star so that should not be the case in a gottca :D the whole point of a genre that we all cry for legos that are simply better at doing the same job :DD
So I’m using them together in GR1 , I will use 2 Mages and razurk w doloros boost and healer, then maul on the other side without doloros boost. Considering my other 2 dps out damage maul. Great video as per usual bucket
I wanted to mention something here that not a lot of people know regarding Razaak: for gr3-19, I believe Razaak is superior even for right side, but the difference is you have to place him on the top tile facing right because of his slower cast. But in doing so it will be in time to kill the right side wave. This does reduce your potential boss killing slot, but allows for Razaak to kill right side. With enough gears he can do it on his own, but also possible with dolores. So for gr3 (19+): Razaak can do both sides, and he requires fairly significantly less gears to do so. Gr1: Use maul. Gr2: Razaak is better for clean the middle due as well here if you that's what you need him for.
Yup this is exactly how I use my Razaak in GR3 actually! It is tricky in the middle but it's a nice option for handling the tricky right lane. Agreed mate, nice summary :)
It would be interesting to see an over time set up, because looking at their damage after the chapter is completed my Razaak is usually doing more damage. I don’t use Dolores near as much as I should though.
The math on this one is strange; it has to be something like: Test Armor vs Attack: Once you get past a certain Attack over their Armor, something like a parabola function that is pretty flat at the bottom, but once you hit past that “sweet spot”, it boosts the damage very quickly as the parabola rises to infinity. This suggests building out more attack may be better in the game? But I also wonder how high crit damage would perform, versus high attack.
Very in-depth and informative video. In GR1 as you demonstrate, most enemies have Heavy Armor (i.e. you're supposed to use mages against them), so it really amplifies the effectiveness of Defense reduction. I am curious how effective Defense Break becomes in a more "ideal" scenario, i.e. GR3 or anti-air arena, where enemies do not have high defense and you're "supposed" to use Marksmen. I theorize that in these cases, Maul (and his Defense Break) become comparatively less effective than Razaak.

i hardly recommend AOE Mage or Fighter to *6 first. -. Fighter is suitable pick on many stages. sometimes more reliable than Tank in some points. -. the same goes with AOE Mage. the difference is just, you really need Gear Raid 1 to level up your power higher. and yes, it needs strong AOE Nuker/DPS to pass, which role is largely occupied by Mages
Ahaha sorry mate, it's honestly a toss-up. I think Razaak overall performs better, but his ult timing is very annoying. Also Razaak will perform better in GR2/GR3 which is more important :)

One thing I noticed during the first phase of testing was that Maul didn't def break all of the mobs and only hit some of them for the original 18k. This could switch it in Raz favor for overall damage as he's still within 3K dmg of Maul and hits everyone for that amount. Wondering what the limit of enemies for Mauls S1 to hit is. If they are grouped tight and under that limit Maul wins every time. Additionally, I use both of them in GR3-19, Maul on the left, Raz on the right facing up in the tile no one ever uses with Ezryn to heal Raz between beholders. Works great and they slaughter the waves.

oh.. this system makes atk and def so much important. I dunno if is better or worse but for sure unusual. Last week on Void Normal, I beat the last boss with my Isolde tanking his normals and even the special atk taking close to 0 dmg. That surprised the shit of me. Shes 6/6 with +3500def only. No one is talking about how good is def for tanks. Ofc is hard to measure cos you dont know how much atk the enemies have.
If you compare when maul start his attacked the first wave fist line monster was on his ultimate compared to razak you set his ultimate half of the wave is on his ultimate. I wonder that also affect the result since the fist it capture half of the enemy while mail it only hit the first line of the monster.
*me who has all three* "I see this as an absolute win!" seriously tho, my vierna and aeon havent been able to carry me past 3* GR 1-17 im gonna really invest in my dolores and get her caught up, and then get maul and razaak to 6* if i was paying attention right, the optimal time to pop ults is when maul casts salt erosion and then the next 5 seconds(2x speed)?
@mabucket What do you think of Morene’s nearly permanent 20% def break in places? I’m curious about it at guild boss mostly as I’m lacking a solid defence reducing gb hero. I tested my nm3 team with Dolores and Maul who has 10% def break on 50% uptime (not max skilled up) and it added about 10-20% more damage on my dps heros. For example Wrath saw the biggest increase perhaps due to his higher crit damage? He went from 6.9m to 8.2m. I would try Morene myself but I just used both my gb stones for the above results 😅 Thanks for the vids!
I know the video is quite old already, but in the time where you ult both at the same time and Maul applied his def break to the units, razaak's ult hit for nearly 83k dmg. GR1 is a nice testing ground in itself, but as you explained in your pinned comment as well, it's just too high of a defense. So on units where you actually deal dmg with piercers, razaak is probably dealing double his dmg with the ult, while maul's ult comes out a faster and has lower build-up
Yeah I didn't know about damage minimums until this video actually! This testing is where I discovered the damage minimum and then worked out the resistance shortly after. In regards to Maul vs Razaak. Personally I find Maul to be infinitely better from my usage, with one huge caveat: if it's a GR run, I use Razaak for the bonus EXP gain, it adds up over time. But otherwise I prefer the reliability, CC and frequency of Maul's damage more than Razaak. Also the cost awakening makes a huge difference in places like VR
Thank you! Notable aoe def breaker are: Hatssut (bouncing), Maul and there's Morene for easy single break and a Fighter Rare that aoe breaks but it's inconsistent Not all of them just the ones I can think of atm. Estrid and Torodor also break in single target
👀 I just pulled Raiden this morning (hit Platinum II 5 mins before event ended), so basically Maul is carrying me in GR1 - please don't make them nerf him 👀
i guess they should make much more AOE deff break champions but the content might be to easy then :D So we have to wait for new content or probably they have to scratch everything and do the deff scale way different :D
So def break is either buged out completely, or their damage calculation is so far off any standards, that you cannot use def break as it's suppossed to be used... wierd, to say the least. Explains why Torodor is not used as a placed hero very often tho. He should be the pinacle of usefullness with the def break, but somehow is not.
I know for sure maul % on any banner is lower than other same units.... like by a lot... the guy refuse to come out even when i have multiple copies of other epic heroes. Like wtf
Maul is better with Dolores and in content with other heroes that aren't dealing magic damage. Razaak is better in GR3 and better unboosted, or find a way to def break for him
It's 'interesting' to see atk dominating everywhere in the game. It means all accessories are unfavorable except atk%. This eliminates game variety. Also the stats are unbalanced.
@@yuantonghui7362 Yeah I really don't think it's ideal. On low resist enemies I think CDMG mains are still decent for sure - but high res enemies like AMR18 ATK becomes super important. I figured out the full damage formula and will be making a very detailed video soon and updating my damage calculator :)
