Enjoyed your tour. The Mauna Kea is one of my favorites as well and I will be there with my family next week…can’t wait. Agree it’s one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever seen and I love the beach chairs and SUPs. About the pool, we are beach people but sometimes enjoy the pool later in the afternoon for a cool refreshing swim before we head back to the beachfront wing after a full day at the beach. Thanks, Nick! And I look forward to checking out your book.

I’ve eaten dinner there about 6 years ago and I thought how beautiful the hotel was, just gorgeous. Of course we stayed at the Hilton at Waikoloa.

Thank you for such an extensive video on this hotel. It is a remarkable place and there really isn’t anything else like it. My family has been coming there since the 1980s. A lot has changed over the years, but so much has stayed the same and that is what I love. And it really does have a way of calling you back. I haven’t been there for a few years but this video has scratched the itch a little, so to speak. Thank you again.

Thanks so much for the very comprehensive tour. We enjoyed it. Side note: You asked why someone would choose the pooI over the beach. My husband has a mobility disability. Going to the beach isn’t an option for him. A great pool is a central part of our decision about where to stay. Mahalo!

Have been there 5 x also. I’ve traveled for the last 35 years. My favorite beach anywhere. You are downplaying the snorkeling. The reef continues around the points, and the snorkeling is excellent, easily reached by a short swim from the shore. Thanks for the video, I just returned about a month ago from there, made me feel like I was still there, thanks.

Nick, nice to have a tour in maunea kea hotel now I got idea how nice is that hotel near big island .and specially I have a best friend of mine that he works there but he never mention me how nice is that hotel.

Hi, I am glad that I found your video before my visit to the hotel this September. Since there wasn't much video posted recently, your video has been big help! I heard there are shops for swim suits/golfwares and some photograph place. It could also be nice to know what they have and what the prices would be. please keep posting!

My hotel video tours are so niche, for a "private audience" (I think under 75 views right now!). It makes me happy to know that you got some value from watching it. Have a great trip. Next time I will show the swimsuit selection- it is downstairs near the Peloton bikes- and the golf shopping area (it is near the entrance, outside in another building).

Great video Nick. Love the detail in your des riptiom of things. And no, the video is not too long. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem wirh me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much h, Steve S.

it really is such a nice beach! I heard that Rockefeller flew over the Kona side in a helicopter and reviewed all the bays, and that is how he picked this property many years ago.

Love seeing reviews of the MKBH. Fortunate to have been there quite a few times. Still a great hotel, but had a more special feeling back in the late 90s/2000s. I do like how they have all the beach activities/ free rentals now though. Love the tennis center and the snorkeling is great. Manta is great for breakfast, but dinner there is abysmal (small portions, dishes not properly executed).

It is so nice to get a comment from someone who has been here many times! Similarly, I have heard negative reviews about the dinner service there. It would be nice if the Hotel worked to upgrade their dinner options… but I’ll be honest, it is still one of my favorite spots on the Big Island. I am 14 and have been going to this hotel pretty much every year since I was born. Staying here is my most highly anticipated part of the year. Thank you so much for such a thorough tour! This got me even more excited!!!!

THIS COMMENT MADE MY DAY!! Thanks for checking out my video and have a great trip. Last time you went did they have the two floating pads out in the Bay? That was new when I went this last time. I think they must have added the second one within the last year or two.
