Very nice collection! I love K98's! I have few rarer ones. A svwMB French occupation, a 1941 Obendorf Luftwaffe, and a standard Czech VZ98N. Anyway, your RTI ones cleaned up pretty well I'd say! Nice to see others collections!

Very nice for sure but I'd say that the Mauser collection can never be complete. I already gave up at about 30 something. The prices of milsurp have gone up since no more or not much are imported. I just hope that when I drop dead, my wife will not sell them for what I told her I paid for them.

I would like one of each, allied & axis powers fire arms. Just can not spend multiple hundreds on each rifle. Any recommendations for less than $200 each retailers? Is that a realistic goal?

Nice collection! I've got two kar98ks myself, one is a DOT1943 Russian capture with it's waffenamts intact and the heavy Russian bluing. It's pretty cool since it has an early war stock, mid-war receiver and barrel, and a late war stamped trigger guard and magazine floorplate. My other one is BYF44, Balkan capture (from what I've read at least) with severely dinged waffenamts and it's exposed metal is pretty much in the white. What is odd is that this one has a matching milled trigger guard and floorplate too. Overall, an excellent video, keep up the good work. 😎👍
@tfusilier44
@tfusilier44 Год назад
Thanks! If the serial number is original its likely because they were using up leftover parts. The stamped vs milled parts were simplifications in production and especially in 1944 its likely they would pair them up as needed to get rifles out the door.

Possible. Is it all matching? Did it ever get the front sight base or barrel replaced in its service life? I have seen a couple Russian and Yugo captures that got replacement barrels/rear sight bases.

@@tfusilier44 It's the first rifle I've ever owned. Wanted one since I was 15 and saw it in a WW2 game. I really don't know much about it, it has a decent number of matching part #'s but other than that I cant tell you if it was a russian capture.

I have a Yugo capture without the crest... Good to see another one here. How common is that. I've not seen many.
@tfusilier44
@tfusilier44 Год назад
It's certainly not the norm. It's possible the early refurbs or certain factories didn't adopt the crests at the same time as others. Or perhaps they didn't bother stamping those for export. Hard to say, I also think the Czechs and/or East Germans may have sold Ethiopia some of the German marked examples.

@tfusilier44
@tfusilier44 Год назад
I've fired all the K98s from RTI minus the swp45. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet but with the worn muzzle on it I suspect it will keyhole. All the others I've tested cycle well and are pretty accurate. I used both PPU 8mm and some German & Yugo made surplus. Some more accurate than others but no keyholes or other issues. The B grade dot 45 I got from them recently has a good bore too, but I'm still finishing that one up.

@@tfusilier44 you are very lucky that they are shootable and fun tion. The ONe k98 i buy from rti has too much headspace and my gun smith deemed as a parts gun… and i bought the original german one and did the hand select bore option so over $1200 just for a parts gun…
