In this video we review the Mauser M18, a hunting rifle rel;eased in 2018 or 2019 that basically was released and most people had no idea. there are many grea thing about this rifle that shoudl warrant it a place in your shooting safe. 60 bolt throw super smooth action crisp trigger. double stack magazine and a good quality simple stock.

I have two M18 rifles - one in 308 and the other 7mm Remington Magnum. Both are very consistent and shoot beautifully. I think they are the best €900 I ever spent. A friend of mine has one in 300WinMag and it’s been kept busy. It’s a workhorse. I constantly get under 1 MOA with the 308. Would not mind getting another one in 6.5 CM. Maybe I was lucky but cannot fault the M18.

I'm very much thinking of getting the m18 stainless 308 as my first hunting rifle. It ticks a lot of boxes for me and I can always get a custom wooden stock later.

Excellent review! I wonder if it has something to do with the stock, might be good to use a MDT field stock/chassis and maybe a threaded muzzle?

Thank you for the review! I’ve yet to get into bolt actions but I’d been thinking the M18 would be a cool one to start with. Mostly because it’s from the company who first developed the most common type of bolt action that so many other rifles are modeled after. Shame it didn’t make a better impression.

I reckon you didnt do a good clean on the new rifle. I have 2 in 223 and 308 both adjust the trigger very well. The polymer doesnt bother me it makes it lighter. Cant be arsed to haul 10 lb of steal for 3 days in the bush. Ok for the range boys though. By the time youve put that humongous scope on the and a suppressor theres another 2lb plus. My only gripe is it didnt come with iron sights, then it is usable out of the box. Other than that its a perfect rifle for the money. Mines been soaked in a stream covered in crap and even held the tarp up for a few nights. Quality comes at a premium, go buy a k98 this is a good rifle for a good price and does a good job. 3 goods make for happy times.

I own one in 6.5 prc and it is a clover leaf shooter with hornady precision hunter. I feel the finish on barrel is too thin and coated mine. Local gun shop dropped price to 450 as it drew no interest So i bought it. My gain. Would buy again.

They are melonited so the Finnish is actually in the metal. My prc shoots lights out to.

They did have a 5 shot guarantee. Mine has trouble feeding sometimes. Once at the worst possible time. Fck!

These were available in 2018(at least in the US), I think I got one of the first ones that came into the country and had to wait for it to be shipped from Germany to their distributor in Texas then to Florida. I never messed with my trigger but I think its lighter than 2 pounds, I pretty much just have to breathe on it and the rifle will fire. Also my trigger is metal instead of plastic, I guess maybe only early guns were steel? The caliber selection is much more limited in the US, we don't have the Mauser calibers like 6.5x55 or 8x57 sadly. You can use Remington 700 scope bases so you don't "need" a rail but does limit optic selection. Right now I'm waiting for their wood stocks to be available, either the Pure or the Max.
