January 10th, 2021 was an epic day at Mavericks ⚡️ Here's part 1of 2 chronologically edited movies, featuring January 10th - 2021, plus 2020/21 winter highlights. [54 minutes] #surf #surfing #powerlinesproductions
Damn Brada! You sound pretty badass. Mavericks, huh? Boring? After all the pros that have passed away here, and lots of the elite surfers of this era that just don't surf it, that's saying something. I'd love to see YOUR videos out there. Why no posts? Yeah. Thought so. Easy to act tough on RU-vid. Nothing personal, but shut your fuckin mouth and have some respect for the chargers. Just rent 'North Shore' for the 100th time and zip it.
Even the other Mavericks legends acknowledge how heavy that is. Hearing him reflect on his relationship with Mavericks, is so inspiring, to make the most out of life.
We surfed that area from 1965, And Nuevo and south. There's a spot, San Gregorio, that formed ginormous, perfect waves but broke too close to the cliff. Never had an inkling of Mav's.
Fantastic capture and viewpoints Peter Mel is a legend Mavs rider that barrel wave he made has set the bar totally respect his knowledge experience and raw guts...right up there with Laird Hamilton you carn't get much more praise than that...
Astounding footage. I love the spaghetti western music at the start of the video. That stuff always creates an atmosphere of mystery and a vague sense of foreboding.
Yes, it's great to hear the stories of the surfers as well as the rescuers who take on Mavericks. Great radio communication too. Awesome content all the way around.
3:10 That wave just cocked it's leg and blasted a massive beer fart. One it had been holding since the open ocean. Calling it a "spitter" is the understatement of the year. Thanks for sharing your session with us my friend, good stuff indeed! 👍 👍
Powerlines is just Amazing. To hear the stories, and see the whole safety thing in action, blows my mind. Fking Whelhem is a legend with his air drops. Shout out to Stanley Drake. Carpinteria home grown. Good stuff brother. Ewweeew Powerlines! P.j. Carp.
That's epic. Keep coming back to this video but I like free style alot better, without the straps. I mean it's good to see people getting air like that.
Waves of that size and that clean and glassy, it is insane. I surfed for 30 years and had surf like that maybe 3 times, and size , well hard to judge, maybe between half and two thirds of that. Certainly got that "falling elevator" thing going on when taking off. Was shitting bricks every time, but what a rush...
Was there in the water a few days after this session when it was 13/15 feet. These waves are ridiculous. Thick barrels, shallow breaks and heavy currents, mad respect for surfing them at 20/30 feet. Gives me deja vu anxiety seeing the pov of paddling over the sets
I really appreciate how it shows the waves from a distance too. I like to see them in context of the area. It helps to see just how big the whole wave is. Would love to see Mavericks in person when it’s like this. How come nobody surfed this before Jeff Clark?
Nobody believed it was possible especially there at pillar point. The place is out off the main coastline. So when he discovered it he told his closest surfing friends who took a long time to actually go check it out. It's also on rare occasions that it's firing massive. Not an every day huge swell.
More importantly than the surfing, Is the choice a good narrator& the MUSIC music music music, especially around the 17 minute mark, Well Done Powerline.
Come on guys I got to go to work I wanted to watch part two thank you so much though it's Friday. The weekends here and hurry up put out part two you made my day a lot better than it would have been thank you so much
Such a well done video for sure. Could you see this break from Amtrak Coast Starlight? I’ve seen Radar towers around Pt Conception. Mavericks is further north. Anyway really enjoying the big wave videos out right now. As I’m sitting in my cabin in Mt.
All surfing edits should be like this where you hear and see what's going on behind the scenes. This really brings it together nicely like you are right there apart of it instead of on the couch looking at the screen. Props to all 🤙🤙👌
Whenever I hear Twig describing a wipeout to me like I'm right there, but I'm actually listening to James Bond on a strike mission to another planet and I just keep nodding my head with the understanding I will never ever be on that planet.
Maverick's has this shifty, double up thing that happens halfway through the wave. Turns the lip into a ledge. Full on hairball. I saw a video of John John Florence talking about this place as a scary wave. No argument from me.
