I am home sick for a time when my race were united and a Christian race. I am a baby boomer I was influenced by people of the 19th and early 20th century. They were not tainted by technologies that distract people of today, nor the lust for the world. Their love, faith and trust in God was real and from the heart and soul. I remember being on the floor of my living room as a child, watching this episode with my peeps. I knew who Mavis Staples was, thanks to my G-ma, and I remember thinking how in the world are they (Bill and the cast) still sitting down during this performance? I'm smiling, with chills throughout my body with tears streaming down my face. Just look at the faces on the congregation in that church and those faces tell you that the power of Mavis' delivery is affecting them emotionally, too. OMG what delivery, what body and voice emotion coming from her soul, what a voice. You can tell Mavis has a strong connection with God. Lord have mercy. I know Marvin is smiling on this, too.
