Meghalaya is one of the states in India with an extensive network of underground caves, some of which are still undiscovered. Mawsmai Cave is located at a distance of 57 km from Sohra (Cherrapunji) and Shillong. There is a network of underground caves that are full of beautiful and sometimes frightening stalactites and stalagmites. Unlike the usual tourist attractions, the cave was deserted and there were only a few groups to explore. The entrance fee is Rs. There is a short walk through the forest to reach the main entrance of the cave. This hike takes you through the breathtaking views of the valley filled with waterfalls during the monsoons and the occasional cafe where local Khasi music is played.
