“Is this turning into one of those shows where we sit around and reminisce, thereby recouping 80% of the episode cost via the use of clips and archive footage?” “Yes it is, Max. Now stop talking, stupid, you’re costing money.”
The best part is that all the ''archived footage'' they showed in that episode was original. Even as they poked fun of the laziness of clipshow episodes, they still made more effort than most.
Can't we ignore the fact that this rabbit is self-aware, destroyed most of the mafia, knows how to disguise properly, knows how to play poker and sold his own head as an extremely expensive TF2 item?
@@GalaxyAnimation19 Let me elaborate, since I'm a Geek Nerd Dork. In 1993's Sam and Max Hit the Road and the sadly canceled 2004 sequel, Sam and Max: Freelance Police, Max was voiced by Nick Jameson. In the TV series, he was voiced by Robert Tinkler - my personal fave and the one I take inspiration from for *my* Max voice. In 2006's first Telltale episode, Culture Shock, the first episode of Save the World, to be precise, he's voiced by Andrew Chaikin - who would later voice Tycho from Penny Arcade in Poker Night at the Inventory, with William Kasten. Speaking of, in the rest of Save the World, the rest of the Telltale trilogy in general, and Poker Night at the Inventory, that's who he's voiced by - William Kasten. And in Poker Night 2 and This Time It's Virtual, he is voiced by Dave Boat - it is unknown if he will return for any future Sam and Max projects. David Nowlin - he'll get his - was supposed to be Max's voice for the Telltale games, but Telltale Games decided that having a separate actor play Max was a better idea. But he DID voice Max for a Gametap ad, so that counts, technically. And since I'm here, I might as well do Sam, too In Hit the Road, Bill Farmer did Sam's voice - you may recognize Bill as the guy who now does Goofy for Disney. Sam even calls back to this in Poker Night 2, saying he had to undergo voice training since his voice was too "goofy." Heh. In the TV show, he's voiced by Harvey Atkin, who sadly passed in 2017 - he's the only voice out of the duo to pass, so far. Harvey also did work as King Koopa, in the Mario cartoons, back in the 80s/90s. And in the Telltale Games, Poker Night 2, and This Time It's Virtual, he's voiced by David Nowlin - also TBA if he's coming back. Sam's voice changed 2 times in the (barely) 6 Max has had - Nowlin was supposed to be Max's voice for the Telltale games, but Telltale Games decided that having a separate actor play Max was a better idea. I can hear Max calling me a "Neeeeeeerd!" and I'm proud of it, dammit!
Modern tv: Cartoons aimed at kids can't be too violent otherwise kids will copy them because we think they are stupid. Sam and Max: "Remember kids. Don't try this at home. We are professional cartoon characters."

This show was so far ahead of everything, that even now they still haven't caught up! Only the fast-paced witty lines seem to be used in adult cartoon comedy, but even that is only the tip of the iceberg for this show! THis came out in the 90's, that's 30 years and still ahead of the curve! You want to know something even more amazing? Steve Purcell, the owner of sam and max kept the rights after teltale games closed; this means he can (if he wanted) have people make more games, series or merchandise for sam and max in the future! There are even two figures of sam and max being made (although they've been under the pre-order label for 3 years with no word, so best to keep an eye on it; rather and rush into hope) with a lot of expression, articulation and accessories! What i'm trying to say is, this show is still years ahead of us 30 years later; that's an impressive feat!
Steve also was personally involved with the creation of every Sam and Max game as well as was a founding member of Telltale games. One of the main reasons the group broke away from LucasArts games was to make a new Sam and Max game that fan had been asking for for years.
Why do I feel like Sam and Max is the only show that seems like it is made for adults only, yet is actually perfectly suitable for children... and I love it.
@@maneoj46 nah usually those finish. Then they go on to either make public schoolers look like uneducated chumps, or go absolutely psycho and end up on the news at 6.
Lmao, I like the idea that Max is okay with death, manslaughter, and gruesome gore being shown, but Cuties is where he draws the line. (And rightly so! 😂)
Not that I've counted, but Sam and Max do swear plenty in their original comics and games. Naturally they had to tone it down for the sake of the children.
Sam " we sure do swear a lot! But they cut all those scenes out before airing." Max " even my vodka juggling scene?" Sam " yes max and all the nudity" *max looks down* Max "ain't that the naked truth!"
4kids, "No, you can't use gun noises, we need this to be kid friendly." Sam and Max "ALL THE GUNS, ALL THE SLAPSTICK, THIS IS A CARTOON DAMMIT AND WE NEED TO USE THE BUDGET"
My favorite moment of his is still: “Haha, you kill me little buddy!” “Only if we’re taken alive sam...” Text cannot do the masterful delivery justice.

Apparently Steve Purcell, the creator of Sam & Max, had them live together for the duration of their working together in order to build their domestic rapport.
This video got me into Sam and Max. I asked my dad recently if he ever watched it and his eyes lit up and he said "YES! That was my shit! Freelance police right?" And we had a good talk about it, was fun to find out my dad also like it and now I love it Edit: I forgot I made this comment lol, I'm happy to see people found this wholesome :))
Typical dad conversations. Last time my dad remembers some show/movie, theres this movie called Ben, and this kid somehow friends with a rat, and apparently the kid aquires a rat army, and the movie is from the 1970s, so theyll just be this kid with 100 real rats LMAO
@@noahboat580 Yooo I sorta remember that movie, been a while since I've seen it tho. It was sorta emotional if I remember right.. My mother watches TCM a whole bunch and I like to watch certain movies with her. My personal favorites lately are Clue (based off the board game) and A little romance. (since i'm learning French)
I've never heard of this cartoon before. Biggest error in my life Edit: After around a year from listening about it, I've watched this series and seen the games. I can safely say it's one of my favorite cartoons of all time.
